Logic dictates starting at the battery: check for loose connections. Is there 12 volts or does the test light shine bright? If not-bad battery. If yes-is the frame grounded? Connect the test light to the positive side of the battery and check for ground at the engine and at the frame. If the frame & engine is grounded -check the fuses, then check the relays. Then work from the battery out to see where the power stops. |

Battery is good. Battery is grounded to frame, engine is grounded to frame. Fuses are good, but how do i go about checking the relays? Thanks for your help. |

Mine wouldn't start with less than 12.6V, are you sure your battery has enough charge? |

Are you testing with a light or volt meter? The relays should have power going in, then power going out on one of the terminals. The idea is to trace the power from the battery out, until you find where it stops (bad relay, switch, broken wire, etc.). This is all assuming that you have no power, whatsoever, to anything. Do you have a manual? A wiring diagram will make it easier to trace the problem. |

Got it figured out. For some reason the ignition switch was not making the connection with the wiring harness, despite the fact that it was plugged all the way in. I pulled the connectors apart and cleaned them, and the bike started like a champ. Just a little electrical gremlin i suppose. Thank you guys for all your help. |

hey guys i am having some issues with the battery on my bike... I just bought it in april and about 3 times after cranking it the battery wouldnt crank...so i charged it and then it still kept stranding me. So i bought a new one about 3 weeks ago and today i took it out and the battery is drained again! I dont know what to do about it other than keep charging the darned thing. Anyone know any common things that drain the battery on the blast? Jen |

I had a similar problem, except the bike was dead before I even got to ride it! Have the dealer check the voltage regular and replace it, sounds like the voltage regulator is continuously trickling the battery. Hope that helps. |

Mine is still under warranty, so since they didn't charge me, I didn't look at the cost. I will check tonight when I get home and see if it says on my invoice. Hopefully it's not expensive. It should be easy to replace. Will get back to you tonight sometime. |

Hey I have a 2001 and had to replace the stator ( inside the primary) I did all the work myself. I tried the voltage regulator first, $40, order from Chicago Harley for the best price. If that does not do the trick, you will get the same symptoms and will have to replace the stator. BUT if it is under WARRANTY then the Buell Mech will run the proper voltmeter tests to determine where the problem is: regulator or stator. Good Luck! |

nah its a 2001 so it has no warranty...i guess i will just replace voltage reg and hope that works since it seems inexpensive enough to take that risk lol. thanks for your time jen |

In the Blast manual, the proceedure for static timing the Blast it says to align the TDC Mark (Line) and adjust ignition module so the LED just comes on. Is this correct? Shouldn't it be set for the LED to come on at the timing mark(The two dots)? Or am I not taking into account electron speed or somthing? Has anyone used the static timing method before? |

Well, it seems like my ignition module is acting up. Occasional mises at a certain RPM ranges, not fun. I'll probably spend the weekend poking at all the electrical switches and stuff to make sure that the it's not something else, bt I suspect the ignition module. Swampy and EZ how tough is it to change out?? Readigng the manual it sounds real straightforward. Any troubles de-pinning the connector?? What's one of theee going to run $$$$$?? Erik? You didn't happen to upgrade to the Pro-Series and have a stocker lying around... Do you?? James |

Yes, its straightforward and I do have the stocker lying around! De-pinning is not a problem.(If I was gonna buy a new one I get the Pro Series!) |

Check the pins for tightness - a loose connection can give you the same glitches as a bad ignition itself. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

I'll check out the pins to make sure that I don't have a loose one... Erik, Any chance that I can beg borrow or steal your ignition module? James |

Hi, brand new to the Blast, old to bikes. In fact, this site helped me decide on it. I plan on modding it into a streetfighter, but first I've gotta figure out a little glitch. None of the turn signals work, it's not the relay or any of the fuses. If I attach a test probe to the relay contacts and ground it to the battery, I can get them to turn on. Sounds like a ground is messed up somewhere. I guess what I need is a wiring diagram, or if anyone has any knowledge of how this could be fixed that'd be awesome. Thanks. Look forward to sharing pics of my blast when I finish it |

Jprovo, couldn't bring up the wiring diagram. Is there any way you could send it or PM me? Also, checked the contacts and they're good. I made an appointment to bring it in, but I'd rather save the money and use it for some dominator headlights. Thanks for the info |
