I would like to have a bigger fuel tank. I was wondering if anyone here has found one that converts easly. I was thinking about the larger Sportster tank with some mods. Any feedback appreciated.

Ekaphoto:

IMHO a 5 gallon tank would be good ...

One way to get a bigger gas tank would
be to put the blast engine in a XB frame !!!

Like the XB9R frame myself ...

Welcome to the board Ekaphoto!

I'm from Eureka also!

Eureka, Michigan that is....

The fuel tank on the Blast is made the way it is to mimic the XB series fuel placement in the frame. If you watch the Buell on Buell video clips at the Buell website you will see why. The fuel is placed down and around the cylinder head to keep the mass of the fuel lower improving the handling of the bike.

And with the Blast, you have to stop some time, so it might as well be at a gas station.

I doubt the larger Sportster tank will fit as I doubt they've changed the frame tunnel width in the last few years.
There are tanks that will straddle the Blast frame. Then it becomes a matter of seat modification or will the handlebars hit or? Some aftermarket cafe racer style tanks may work as well as some stock (or aftermarket) Jap bike tanks. Some suppliers will list tank dimensions to make your search easier.
Sorry, I dont think there's a quick easy answer to this one, although I've seen a few Blasts with different tanks, there has never been a "Yes, this one fits" to any available tanks.

A friend of mine mentioned recently that they make add on auxiliary fuel cells for motorcycles (or that are adaptable). He likes to do the "Iron Butt" rallies, so if thats sounds like a solution, that might be the place to look.

Buellistic: Your modification, although well worth it, may be a bit more involving than Ekaphoto wants to go. I could be wrong, though.

Perhaps some modified saddlebags and a fuel pump? When the tank gets low, flip a switch, and the fuel is pumped from the saddletanks to the fuel tank.

Sounds like I will have to use the bunge cord and gas can mod. The problem is lack of gas stations in the remote areas I ride in. I usually ride my DR-Z with larger tank or my V-strom, but the blast belongs to my girlfriend and i am afraid of running out of fuel between gas stops. Espically since I put on aftermarket pipe and kitted the carb. I am sure the fuel mileage is less than it was.

get the buell deluxe tank bag, strap it to the back of the bike as in the passenger position and put a gallon + container in it. I do this on my CityX when I am running off the grid. Remember extra gas is HEAVY and poor placement of it will affect your handling. Or you could get a pair of Jerry cans and use them in the saddle bag position. If you are off the grid where 3 extra gallons wont get you home, you need a new bike
