NY - Truthfully, it would be difficult to find an improper oil for your Blast, so long as you are using the correct weight.

The bike was designed to run with 20W50 conventional Harley oil. Any synthetic (which Amsoil is) and most conventional oils are going to be better than that.

FWIW, I use 15W50 Mobil 1 automobile oil. My primary motivation is that it's good oil and it's easy to find. The Blast does use oil, so it's nice to know I can find it on the road if I need it, rather than having to tote it around with me.

ok - no one laugh. I need to add oil to my Blast. Do I pour it in the hole where you check the oil and then get the oil to read between the 2 arrows? Thanks.

I hope no one is laughing, that is what we are here for. YES, that is where you add the oil, only add a little bit at a time and check it, little bit equals ounces. Your bike should be warm when checking it and level, sitting on it balancing it with the kick stand off the ground.

"Your bike should be warm when checking it" That point cant be stressed enough. If its been sitting awhile (days, weeks) it may not read any oil on the stick or even be seen in the hole, but it can still read full when hot. Between the lines is good enough!

And BuellKats' right, we wouldnt laugh.

I just poured some oil in the hole. I don't think that I poured too much, but if I did pour just a little too much, what would happen. I did let it warm up for 10 minutes and then turned it off. After I rode it home from work today and checked the oil nothing registered on the dip stick, but the oil light was not on. I added maybe 3/4 or a little more of a quart. It now reads right at the top of the arrow, but is is foaming. I am going to read that posting. Thanks.

Foaming or air bubbles is normal, but it can seem to do it more if its overfilled. Adding perhaps a half quart to much will most likely lead to more oil going into the airbox and possible smoking, but not likely to do any real damage. More than that you'll likely start spewing the excess oil out of any available orifice.
Oil light wont come on unless you have low oil pressure, not low on oil (though low oil can lead to low oil pressure). I'm sure some brands have a low oil light.
Checking immediately after a ride is always the best method, then you're sure the next day if it does read low, it was full the night before.
Never add more than a half quart unless you're absolutely sure its that low on oil. It'll only take 1 3/4 quarts when changing the oil & filter, so you can see where it's real easy to overfill.

Probably a tad overfull - I wouldn't worry though - riding will bring it down eventually.

Due to a thumpers vibration I had a bike shop tell me to use synthetic or "V-twin" specific oils because they have an anti foam additive.

For what its worth.
