If you are not in neutral and stand is down, bike will stall out. With stand up - can you find neutral? GT -0 JBOTDS! EZ |

no, the neutral light doesn't come on anymore. I had it checked over and i've got the mechanic stumped. he even ordered and put in a new spedometer. nothing. he's tested everything - neutral switch, stand and nothing. |

Welcome to the board Kimbo! You say you cannot find the neutral gear? or the neutral light does not come on? or both? If you cannot find neutral, it would have to do with the shifting drum, the part that changes the gears when you move you shifter lever up and down. If you remove your primary cover, you need to check your shift drum retaining bolt, there is a picture of it posted on this site somewhere...and if that is tight you need to make the shifter pawl adjustment. The Little Kids Blast had a difficult time shifting until it was properly adjusted. If you can shift gears, and find neutral, but the indicator light does not light then it would be the neutral switch, which is located just ahead of the transmission output sprocket on the right side of the engine case, not up on top of the transmision(where the speedo sensor is) A quick test to see if the shift drum retaining bolt is loose and letting the shift drum move around is to put the transmission in nuetral and lean the bike to the right side, if the light comes on or flickers then it would be the bolt. Good luck, let us know what you find. |

Sorry, but I dont know where the answer that EZ posted about is or I'd help with that. But it seems to me that the most logical reason is a safety switch is shutting the bike down. It would seem that the bike is telling itself that it's in gear and if the kickstand is down and the clutch is let out, its going to shut off the bike. The neutral switch may be bad and telling the bike its still in gear. Have you bypassed the kickstand safety switch? (cut the wires and connect them together). Then the bike wont care if its in gear or the clutch is in or out. If you do this and it doesnt fix the problem, I'd be amazed!(your neutral light still wont come on but you'll now be able to ride your bike!) sidenote: I bought a used Blast (another) which would die if you let the clutch out while it was still on the sidestand in neutral. While the neutral light still worked the easiest solution was to bypass the kickstand safety switch. Problem solved! I do not however know if the problem was with the neutral switch or elsewhere, but at that point it didnt matter. |

I'm sure I have this problem to. I've never pulled the primary cover off. Do I have to replace the seal for the shifter when I do this? |

Jlnance: Now is the time to do a little PRODUCT IMPROVING ... Remove CHAIN GUIDE PN 39934-00Y(the XBRR has this same thing and it gets loose/brakes geting into the primary chain) ... Put SPRING,chain tensioner PN 24349-00Y into hole closest to chain on SHOE,chain adjuster PN 39946-00Y so chain is not held so tight ... Adjust BOLT,chain adjuster PN 3301Y to where primary chain(when engine is at operating temperature) starts to rattle against primary case, tighten just to where it stops rattling ... The next best thing to doing this is to put on a XB promary cover with chain adjuster assemly("i" did) ... If you are careful you will not have to replace OIL SEAL,shifter shaft PN 37101-84 ...
