The factory front is covered in clear tubing/coating. There isnt any factory rear. Check for a local 'plumbing' place or ask a racing supplier for the name of someone who can make up brake lines for your race car. They'll make up a line from your old line as a model. Buy the front from the factory though, it'll be easier. The front brake line can be a real pain to bleed (you are warned!!!). And get the fork brace if you change the front-really! |

Yes - I figured it out on my red bike - the pull from the one side when braking in heavy rainy wet roads was noticable! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Yeah - It took me forever to bleed all the air out of the front line... What a mess.... |

The SLO ride gave me the chance to swap bikes back and forth with James. Hitting the front brake on his made it feel a little squirly (compared to the stiffened race bike). His bike also has 40,000 miles on it! |

The Kenda fit, the Pirrelli rubed just a tad at first then fit,but sucked as a tire - weak sidewall; hoping - since Avon is putting these up front as new and improved - that new 140/70 - if true profiled as the old Kenda was - would fit - Denis Kirk has the best price so far as well. Chaparral has them $38.99 front, $60.99 rear 100/80-16 -VS- 110/70-16 ???? and 120/80-16 -VS- 140/70/16 ????? I have the stock Dunlap front and a Big Kenda rear on the Little Kids Blast and it seems OK in the corners. The Avons AM51-52 seem a little sharper cornering on the Big Kids Blast. |

I just ordered my tires - the VS AM 63 in the 140/70-16 and the 110/70-16 sizes - sure hope they fit - otherwise I eat a 50% restock and use the Pirrelli - still each tire was only 3 bucks more than Dennis Kirk's price - so I don't feel screwed - looking forward to the fun ahead - almost have this last set of Pirrelli warn bald from the 300 plus miles doing Lake County in the wine country over the weekend - camped and rode - it was sweet! Probably sold a few more Blasts for Erik as well - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ

Hi All, I don't have a parts book and was hoping someone with a 2002 book can look up the part # and spec's for the rear brake lever bolt (pedal bolt) that attaché's the pedal to the footpeg support bracket. If anyone knows the thread count and length etc ... and if there is a washer on it would be very helpful so I can get a temp replacement until I can order an original from one of the boards sponsors. Thank you all in advance. I thought the rain on the ride home was annoying until I went to use the brake and it wasn't attached anymore! <Jim |

1/4 x 20 x 1" grade 5. Hardware store item, not that special. Get a washer too. PS if it actually stripped out, it can be drilled to 5/16 and use the XB shifter bushing. (Message edited by gearheaderiko on July 11, 2006) |

Now on to other cool news Introducing the Avon Viperstrikes in 140/70-16 and 110/70-16
My goal is to scrub that snake head right off! The guys at KC said the tires looked great on the bike - round and the edges look attainable - checked preassure 4 times - steady - the real test will be long distance, however, I have to break them in first ;0) - I have a hunch this was a very good move! Ok - I did a rough measure - v vs p - 128.78/121.28 rr and 105.14/102.60fr and clearance from swing arm to tire is 0.309. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

...and suddenly, I'm not quite so pleased with the new(ish) Pirelli on my rear wheel. Don't get me wrong, I totally LOVE the Pirelli! In fact, I found a "new" road today and beveled the outside edges of the soles of my boots - My best riding day ever, with major kudos to the MT75! But hey - 140 is 20 more! |

Yes - its the curvature of the lower profile, still - it cost 10 bucks less than the Pirelli fr and rr with mounting - is actually a 130 to 135 and a 105 to 108- still the swing arm couldn't take too much more tire - with the tire hot I'll have just enough clearance it seems - and if the reviews on this tire's larger brothers is to be believed I'll have fun as well - and well - looks - yeah they are there. - lol - could this be a new track choice - the front because of the lower profile would steer a bit quicker - and extra contact patch - even if but a little extra - we'll see - how sticky is this puppy? - GT - JBOTDS! You can compare Viper vs. Pirelli "back-to-back" on Vader & Maul - that would be some fun research! |

Funny is an interesting thing to say when comparing these tires - both are sticky - and I'll watch to see how long its life span is - however, even with only around 80 miles on the Vipers before the test and the edges being practically virgin - the last 1/3" still is - and the Vipers' busts now barely misses its beheading - how ever, Scott and I both feel sure that we could reach them and behead them - they are that sticky - another thing we both noticed was how much quicker turn in is due to the lower profile - something we both enjoyed but took a little bit to get used to - average speeds where 10 to 20 mph above posted - lol - air pressure on both was constant and about 1/8" clearance when hot - mid ride and at rides end. The ride ended with a beer toast and a sigh - now we must see to the long term - the life of the tire - I will keep reporting on this tire's progress - but so far so good, and this tire really launches well - lol - GT - JBOTDS! Hi EZ, Does the Viperstrikes rear fit with the fender-belt cover in place? One other quick question, My Blast seems to dive a bit more then I like under sharp braking at slow speed. Is there an adjustment/change/need-to-rebuild/? that I should consider? Or not. TIA, <Jim |

You can change the springs to Works or Progressive. Change the fork oil to a heavier weight. Add some shims to the front springs. You can further modify the front forks, but it starts getting expensive! |
