Lee needed a different size - went with a 136 tooth belt, The forks can be built up for serious performance, and the wheels are lighter - less unsprung weight and going with the 140/70-16 and 110/70-16 tires puts him in a proper tire range as well. The weight of this bike is way lighter than his XB!!!

Thanks EZ, as you know I'm new to this forum and I have a lot to learn about the blast and Buell both. some of my questions may seem silly, but I'm committed to learn all I can about these wonderful machines. That is a good looking bike Jetlee is putting together, is it also lighter than a stock blast?

Very - it may come in even lighter than mine, and that is 305 and change pounds - plus/minus for amounts of fuel. Lee and I now live about 12 blocks away - so it is interesting to watch his methods at work - lol

Rocketrick,

As EZ said, I'm going with a 136 tooth belt from an 883. Ulysses use a 135, but it's just a little too tight.

The frame is from a 2003 XB9S, has the hole in the frame for airflow that was later capped to allow more fuel capacity.

The wheels/tires are smaller, lighter and generate less gyroscopic inertial forces allowing quicker turn-in. Yes, there's less traction at the limit, but I've never broke traction mid-lean with Rat Blastard; constantly I do on the Firebolt (daily rider). Even today, exiting the train station I got on it while leaned and the rear end did a nice little drift.

So far, it's about 100lbs lighter than my XB9R Firebolt and 40lbs lighter than my stock Blast.

If you know any machinists willing to turn an axle for me, I have specs and would appreciate being put in touch with them.

I picked up another Blast this past weekend. Cleaned it up and did some painting. It is turning out to be a nice machine. I forgot how much fun the Blast's are to ride.

Hello!I recently got my Buell in trade for my Magna. It was in good shape engine-wise but needed work in other areas.

So far I have put on some handlebar end mirrors and some LED turn signals front and back. I still need to figure out where to get some foot pegs that fit since it needs all 4 of them, and then I will change out the headlight for an LED light.

Even with the bent foot pegs I rode it over 200 miles the very first day I got it just to get it home, and it was surprisingly comfortable. Might not have the hp of the Magna but it feels a LOT more secure in corners at speed, and it rides over grooves like they aren't even there.

I fabricated some longer pegs today and added some exhaust wrap. The little changes to the Thumper seem to have worked well.
