Is there a shorter shift lever available? Or an easy mod to move the toe pad closer to the footpeg?   Oz | ||

Just modify the stock one. Its been done several times. You can just drill a hole in it and bolt on a new toe peg. | ||

Thanx, just checking before I drill and tap. The toe peg unscrews from the stock shifter, or do I need to find something else? Oz | ||

Toe peg unscrews. Also, try a Sportster Shifter. | ||

Drill and tap new hole - apply peg and if you want a finished look - remove old material. GT - JBOTDS! EZ  | ||

Jprovo, Thanx, that answers the "is the spline the same?" question, too. The owner, who I have urged to sign up on BadWeB, wears a size 5 womens boot. And honestly, the shifter seemed long to me (size 8 1/2). The position it needs to be in for her to shift puts the heel of her boot in the peg with the toe peg ~2" above the top of the peg. I don't think it's a good idea for her to get into the habit of having to move her foot up and forward in order to shift, then back and down to a riding/bike control position. On the up side, it makes the bike really difficult for normal sized people to ride.  Note to BMC, shorter people (Blast! Low buyers) have shorter feet! Ez, I was considering that, also it shouldn't cost too much to have two holes drilled in a piece of flat stock - hmm, it shouldn't be too hard to drill two holes in a piece of flat stock... I wonder if I have a piece of 1/4' aluminum... Oz | ||

So far it looks like 1991-2003 Sportster/XL shifter levers will work(with standard controls-not forward). |
