i have a 2001 buell blast that i just replaced the carb intake boot and that stoped the carb poping but now i can't get it to go over 60mph and it takes about two mins to get there,can someone please help me out???

Timing Off? Primary Chain too Tight? Fouled Sparkplug? Clutch Slipping from too many wheelies?

What have you tried so far? A Blast that will only go 60 is a sad story.

First ride of this season. Mine is doing a similar thing. It will go along fine at any speed then just bog right down to no power, I can coast along in 1st gear, to keep it on the road. Then suddenly it goes full throttle again. Repeat. Bawwwgggg. Wide open. I switched fuel petcock, on or reserve, has gas, not sure if it worked. Switching it back and forth just to keep it going down the road.
I did adjust the primary some, the bolt seems all the way backed out(?), after replacing the primary gasket and new gear oil. Should I adjust some more??

Mine did that @ 13,774 miles. Found small 1mm tear/split in the rubber diaphragm/vacuum piston. Examine closely. Mine is '02 49 states. HD part#27585-88 for new vacuum piston.

Too tight Primary would be my first guess, a partially clogged main would be the second, a torn Slide Diaphragm could also do such.

Note moving this topic to diagnosing problems section where it belongs - lol

Located under square black plastic cover held on with 4 phillips screws. Top of carb.

Buellkat,
Just be real careful to get the diaphragm back into the groove in the top of the carburetor before tightening the screws down. You can use a 6" metal ruler or something similar to push the diaphragm into the groove.

Good news The diaphragm seems all in tact, examined under a bright light in a dark garage. LOL Bad news After the hassle & struggle with going thru all of that to examine it and still wondering what the problem could be....As long as I have it apart I might as well drill the port to 1/8" for more "power". I will clean it all up really good, put it all together, road test it and report back.

Don't do that right now, get the power loss issue fixed first. Don't compound your issues.

The Little Kids Blast seems to be down on the power this year also, it seemed to surge at high speed cruising and would not hold speed. I am going to be checking the sparkplug for color and checking the main jet for debris. I am also going to check the fuel line and if there is enough fuel coming out of the fuel petcock.
If it all looks good, I believe it would then be the ignition module.

Thanks Swampy, I was thinking along the lines of the ignition from reading earlier posts, one from you. I don't think I will attempt the drilling at this point.

i just adjusted my clutch so its not slipping, just put a pro-series spark plug in it and it was not fouled, and i don't want to trailer it a hundred miles to the closest buell shop.

Total clutch adjustment is done with the primary all the way to loose - then re-adust the primary - order is mentioned in manual - lol

also my turn signals are not working, i laid my bike down two weeks ago and it broke one of them so i took it off and i think i mite have shorted it out what do i do about that???

Replace the turn signal. One bulb may not have enought surrent draw to toggle the flasher.

Check the fuses under the seat. Is the 15A System fuse OK?

Did you replace the flasher relay or just the bulb? Sounds like the flasher relay is bad, but also make sure all the bulbs are good.
If all else fails, follow the trail of electrical current. That will tell you where it stops.
For a really good explanation of electrics buy/read Easyriders Electrics (Yes by the same people that publish Easyriders magazine- available from Whitehorse Press). It's like Motorcycle Electrics for Dummies. Explains the basics in an easy format.
