I think you should post your proposal on the for the factory board, http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/6/6.html?1145964997 maybe it will find the right ear, maybe not. |

What I know is if Buell wants to develop a loyal following instead of building bikes for Harley guys to get thier wings before buying a big twin this would be a good way to go. Me I would like one to get my wife on and maybe go cruising. It would just be a fun bike and if they could hit the price point, well worth the investment. Good way for buell to stop being harley's little step child if that is what they wanted and are financially ready to do... |

Diablobrian - already done. Erik - I'm on your side 100%, I knew what you where talking about with the Sportster (and those old sportsters sat in the showroom floor because for all their looks and potential they still where HDs), I was just pointing out the fact that it really isn't sporty except when compaired to other HD's in stock trim. The modern ones are just what I'm talking about. If the bike was just a 500cc BlastXB - I'd probably be the only one buying - lol - however, a 650cc XBBlast would be a totally different critter - a total fun package with a lot of positive selling points that in todays market would sell well. Thats the point I'm making! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

I'm gonna guess at a couple of things.... The XB single might be more viable if / after Buell puts out the XBRR based motor - allowing for nice, big bores from the factory. The factory could then put out a 650+ cc single capable of reasonable revs and factory power. The < 30 RWHP deal now would be a waste of XB componentry. -Saro |

Here is the point I'm making - remember Honda's bike for the people and how well that puppy sold - well I say that Buell has a chance here to step forward and build such a bike for todays world - max power - no, but enough to keep you smiling and get the job done with out having to resort to aftermarket parts, handling - excellent, reliability/durability - excellent, gas mileage - excellent, touring possibilities - with the 4 gal cg frame and 70mpg - excellent, the ability to fit almost any rider - excellent! All this and a bit lighter weight as well! Surely such a bike needs to be built! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Right on!!! That's exactly what I am waiting on!! Well, as long as the fuel in the frame type frame doesn't cover the cooling fins like on the twins.(Wow they get hot!)Rode a xb9r in Daytona this year, like riding a stove! Leave the engine out in the open like our Blasts. |

interesting thought, I was trying to find this thread so I did a search, it appears that someone thought of this-not sure if they tried, about four years ago. Since we badwebbers have been thinking of it for four years now, and some have done it, when will the factory try to get something from it... |

How much power and torque do you think 809cc would produce in factory trim, such an engine combo could really shine in unlimited singles. With that tech out there - 10 to 20 over factory should be doable and keep a semblance of reliability as well. I think that would be serious Thump! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Would that mean a stronger belt or a 520 chain ??? In BLASTing LaFayette |

The belt would be fine - at least so says Blake in the Big Bore area of the KV, and you could always adapt to an XB Belt - which is a thought, I'd save the chain for racing. How much power is a good question - from the factory for everyday - i'd figure around 50 at the rear - 60+ from the crank - the potential in unlimited singles series would still be great! Red would be the donor - this is definitely a long term project! Hopefully to have finalized in about a week. a gent whose GF is overseas doing military gig, is doing a Pro-stock Buell for her, since the bike is too tall for her. I just hope she doesn't kill him for the idea - lol - bike is already totally tore down. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Never! I have been collecting many extras - carnage has yet to emerge - it will in the end though - now is trial fitting and chasing down Bearings and such - have a good source from Jim N - so its just a set of caliper readings - EZ |
