Jeff, Are the stock X1 bars around the same height as the crossroads bars? The clipons you have pictured look way to aggressive for me. Don't they attach directly on the forks? How much are you selling the X1 bars for? I will have to stop by the dealer ship and see how low they are. josh |

Josh, The X1 bars are about halfway between the stock bars and crossroads bars. I have the X1 bars on my wife's Blast and Jeff is right. they are the perfect height for all around riding. |

Lol - I see now why we can never get questions answered - ok guys I asked what the diameter of the new Buell Blast "For Racing Only" Exhaust header pipe - is it really only 1 1/2" as stock? Yet its getting numbers like an s&s - gee if they had used 1 3/4" as sugested by the best ON THIS BOARD (NOT ME BY FAR) then I'm sure their numbers would have been wild, now only amusing. I'm sure the aftermarket will catch this and do the larger header knockoff. As for Intake - I'm going with the ASB torque stack w/the CASS4 stack filter(stops .005 & larger) - my weekend project - along with lighting lol - Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Ezblast, By eye the diameter looks identical. The header is defiantly a longer pipe. There’s an s curve in the pipe. I keep my tools and my bike at my father’s house so I will have a real answer this weekend. I did not forget your question I just can’t answer it yet. Did you calculations take in length because this is a longer pipe? Josh |

It wasn't me - I doged the answer out of Blake and Aaron W. in the Blast 44mag. section.Lentgh helps top end hp - I went short for torque - but for max breating exhaust - 13/4" was the number they had mathmatically come up with and that is recommended with any Nallin kit upgrade. Not dissing the exhaust - it does a great job by their numbers - just curious if they have a reason for going with a smaller diameter header than the pro's recomend. - lol;0) Just Blasting on the Dark side! Chaser The Stock X1 Bars are a bit higher than the X-Roads. The clips on are more aggressive than the X-Roads. Jeff |

Btw- Ed, I believe the PROS should be considered as the Factory Buell Racing Dept., Not Blake and Aaron (no offense to you guys....) I'm sure alot of designs(And R&D) were tried before the final decision for the Factory Blast racing pipe was put into production. Although they may have settled on a middle pipe for the broad range of the masses. (I.E.- best of both worlds). Also- IMHO.... if Racing is limited to a certain lower CC (like 505cc to 550cc) by rules.... then a Big diameter header may not be the best for all applications.....??? |

Ralph ole buddy - show me a factory race Blast running those parts ;0)(I'd love to see that (and not a dirt tracker either))- lol - experts - thats a sticky subject - I'll leave that part alone. With the smaller diameter you'll have a faster velocity and in conjunction with the cams that may help the torque number significantly - especially stepping the pipe, however, Plain old engineering math - as has been discussed on this board elsewhere shows that the engine will breath most efficiently at the larger diameter. So I'm just curious as to why they went with smaller? EPA or sound thing? Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

ED !.... I'm sure the reason had NOTHING to do with sound or EPA since it's a Racing pipe and not DOT certified for ON-Road use !!!! I'm guessing the Factory Buell Racing division knows things that we do not . And maybe there will be a future Road Racing Class that will Feature the Blast like the past "Lightning" series ? There has GOT to be a Bigger picture? So You're curious why they went to a smaller pipe, I'm curious as to why the slit exhaust ? To me the double silencer would weigh more!? Then again...why the Mild Cams ?...I know why, coz it'll bolt right in ! Maybe we've all been duped !? Maybe this is just a marketing gimmick. Sure the cams and pipe (like other various Big Buell Racing parts) are labeling for Racing use only... well they have to be -coz they void EPA regs. BUT.... we all know that Harley/Buell owners break the EPA laws and modify their machines ASAP. And in that context, maybe the actual Blast Racing parts are just mild/safe midrange power add-ons for the Blast geek who doesn't know enough to build something really firey...just make some noise and finally start behaving the way Warmed-over Thumpers are supposed to? *Smiles*... I guess it's a step up from Pegasus Axel covers...*laughs* |

Amen Bro - thats kind of my thoughts on it as well - besides those parts with a good intake should be just the ticket for sane streetable fun with our favorite bike. Now if the could only come up with a few more goodies - this bike rules about half the time at a battle trax - some rearsets, and just a few other things along with the factory stuff could hand it the crown (still depends alot on rider skill though - lol). And now that rally's are catching on for motorcycles (simmular to Battletrax but longer and usually local in nature) I see nothing but a bright future for this thumper - Got thump?! I have not measured it yet but after further inspection the pipe starts at the stock size and increases diameter twice before the y fitting. I wish I had a digital camera. |

Ralph, How can you not call Nallin Racing Heads which includes Aaron Wilson not experts. They both have many more hours of not only R&D, but also tons of hours of dyno time getting encredible power from the Blast motor. Not to mention the current holders of one LSR record(hope to be more after this year). I for one will not sell them short. Their efforts to produce quality speed equipment for the Blast is second to none. Ray |

28 lbs of boat anchor - lol - so they managed to trim off say 16lbs, my bub is only six and when I go to the universal it will loose another pound. Still Even though heavy, a lot of thought went into it and it has alot going for it. Not for me though - besides I'm already running their racing cam - lol - Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Josh, Thanks. I don't think that 13 Lbs is too bad. It's quite a bit heavier than the Bub or the Kerker system, but you have to trade weight for longevity sometimes. James |

Your right James - if you have that exhaust, stock jugs, ignition, and head, a very modified airbox/filter, and the new cam_a 36/36 top with a straight line of torque - not bad at all for serious Blasting in the turns - no more hesitation, and definate bang for the Buck - with factory backing - nice - would have been my first step if they had done that when I had first bought her. Yea its not Nallin however it is a nice set up using a majority of stock pieces. The Newbies have all the fun;0) - lol - Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Ray/Fssnoc2501, hey dude- Chill a bit. I didn't mean to ruffle feathers. And I'd have Nallin and Aaron on my Team anyday. But are they Factory paid Engineers making 6 figures a year? I mean the factory has everything at their disposal to even Cast NEW Blocks/heads if they desire... The Nallin and Wilson crews just modify what was made by someone else. It takes a bit less effort to tinker and blueprint an already existing motor, than to design and build a Engine from scratch the way the Buell Team did in the first place. But sure, it appears the "Guys" work wonders... but don't forget they started with factory produced/EPA choked parts and changed out for maximun output...Like you did(by buying and installing their reworked parts). I'm just saying, the Factory Buell Guys/Racing Team are the ones who designed the Original in the first place and also had limitations as to what they weren't allowed to do for production reasons. If the Wilsons and the Nallins were Gods of Buell Engineering, don't you think they would be working For Buell making 6 figures per year? Thats just My thought and I maybe wrong....(Btw, don't you at least think that Team Harley or Buell could use them with their racing efforts ?) I wasn't trying to Flame the Boyz...just stating they must be one (tiny) step below the factory Gods. :-) |

>>>>But are they Factory paid Engineers making 6 figures a year? Hehehehehehe....suggest you get out the Dr. Suess. It won't get you all the way, but it'll be a huge step TOWARD reality. >>>>I mean the factory has everything at their disposal to even Cast NEW Blocks/heads if they desire... <<See above response>>> >>>>The Nallin and Wilson crews just modify what was made by someone else. <<See above response>>> >>>>If the Wilsons and the Nallins were Gods of Buell Engineering, don't you think they would be working For Buell making 6 figures per year? <<See above response>>> I'll not go into addressing your concerns one-by-one, I'll just say that you need to step back and take one more look at the process. Think, for instance, for a moment if the "factory engineers" had a six-figure income from another source and no other internal developement committments to burden them...think what they could do, for instance, if they ferreted them selves away to a remote skink works at the foot of the Rockies, away from politics and competing programs and their only performance constraint was, for instance, performance. Aaron and Brian are limited in some ways; but empowered in many others. Based on thier reputation, experience and knowledge, I'd send'em my money in a heartbeat. By they way, I know many of the folks doing the same thing with Harley-Davidson and Buell and none of this should be construed as detracting from their considerable talents. Finally, if you can get them six figue income, I'll bet I can get you a fan club! Court |

Ralph - bro - Court's got ya on this one- My familly said to always look to the factory for reliability and to the aftermarket for power. People like Aaron and Nallin, Banke make power products that are actually reliable - a rarity in that type of market - makes for scarce true competition - and actually makes them a favorite of Buell factory suported teams as well as the privateers. Shoot - if those engineers had been told make it go fast I'm sure they would, however, that isn't the top directive (probably near the bottom of the list) so thank God we have gods in the aftermarket arena to smile and say nooo problem!;0) (though I'm sure its work;0))Just Blasting on the Dark side! I just installed a 45 slow jet and backed out the air screw and when I went for a test ride everything was running great with a noticeable increase in power. Then gas started pouring out of my carb and filling my airbox. I pulled of the airbox cover and when I look into the carb at the slide, there are 2 holes drilled into the carb body just outside the slide. The gas is pouring out of the hole on the right which seems to lead to the slide needle right above the float valve. If anyone can suggest a way I can fix this without taking it to the shop I would appreciate it. I can turn a wrench ok but am ignorant of carbs and the principles that make them work. Thanks, Jim. |

Well, considering that I've logged over 10,000 or so posts, you'll not get a medal for that. >>>>Liven the board topics We've not lacked for "lively" lately... >>>>Aren't Nallin Racing and Aaron's Crew your Sponsers for this site? They are. Not the first, nor will they be the last. Nallin has been a sponsor for some time now. In typical "parade and progression of the passionate" fashion, collaboative releationships have developed. This Badweatherbikers site evolved from a group of us who used to swap e-mails. Nallin got into business to provide aftermarket performance parts for Buells. Some of use here started TEAM ELVES on behalf of all of us. TEAM ELVES has become one of the most successful Land Speed Record racing teams in the history of Bonneville, receiving recogniztion for accomplishments both on and adjacent to the track. Points got connected and a business relationship developed twinxt Nallin (talented hands) and Wilson (talented mind) whereby all benefit. In all the years I've been doing this, since you could haul the entire years Buell production on a trailer behind a pickup, I've never seen better times. Owners include folks you simply can't wait to meet that range from the secret police in Europe to rock hound geoligists in Texas to grocery store execs, retired cops and active firefighters in California. The factory has set the motorcycle manufacturing business on it's ear with what is arguably the most innovative motorcycle ever to be MARKETED (not simply dreamt of) in the history of motorcycle production and is well on it's way to posting some figures I think you are going to be amazed by and that will make fools of a couple of "quick, pile on, it's all we know" journalists. Times are good and we are bearing witness to the ultimate WIN-WIN-WIN deal as Buell, owners and the industry are poised to simultaneously enjoy some fun! Six figures?....please. But, you may be comforted that a starter home nor studio apartment don't cost $3,000 per month in Mukwonago either. ALL the engineers at Buell are their (including Erik) aas a result of passion and love for what they do. ALL, including Erik, could substantially, if they wanted to, improve their personal financial outlook if that was their sole criteria; it is not. Some have grown weary of the long hours and moved on, having left indelible marks on Buell history the we will all enjoy for years to come. Some have moved on to bigger money, seen the "greener grass" and come back. Some have been shown the grass at places like Briggs-Stratton and respectfully declined. Buell was borne of passion, exists on passion and has a future based on passion and vision. I, having in the last 4 weeks respectfully declined an offer of employment from another motorcycle manufacturer, like that. Court |
