The stockers require us to buy the only tire made for the bike. Does anyone know if You can put a bigger rear tire or maybe the front tire o another bike? |

J10B Front tires run on the back of the Blast is a bad idea, according to the manufacturers and tire vendors. You might be able to fit a 130 Kenda, check out the airchives of the wheel and tire section of the knowledge vault for more. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/20164/20273.html?1105070000,http: //www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/20164/20273.html?1105070000 James |

Avon & Pirelli both make tires specifically for the Blast. Cheng Shin makes a 130/80? (not sure of size) that will fit the rear. Kenda makes a 140/70 that will fit (its technically a scooter tire, but can be run with no problems unless you're running 96mph all day).Quite a few fronts will fit but you may have to relocate the front fender upwards. |

Are scooter tires bad ideas? I dont want to sacrifice something for a bigger tire which isnt my goal. |

The Kenda's are a bit hard - great for commuting but not so great in corners, the Pirelli Scooter tire in the same size as the Kenda has been dificult to get in the US - even though I read that they where going to bring it to the US - when is the question - if the Pirelli scooter tire is modeled after the MT75 as it looks like then we would definately have a winner on our hands - the problem being to find a distributer in the US though. If you find one give us a shout! Till then I'll stick to the MT75 Pirelli. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Technically speaking anytime you increase tire size you will affect handling. Although the height may be the same, the width and crown will affect cornering. The added weight will eat up horsepower and decrease braking power. It will also add to unsprung weight giving a harsher ride and poorer handling. As always, trade offs! |

I've put together the beginnings of a comments/comparisons table. If you're interested, check out the new "Tire Comments" thread in the tire section of the KV and give some feedback. |

The Kenda worked well on the Big Kids Blast, he got about the same mileage as the stock tire. With the bigger Kenda on the back and the original tire up front there wasn't any handling problems that I could tell. I am going back to get the Kenda for the rear so the question now is what size Kenda should I put on the front seeing the front tire now needs replacement? EZ? |

That would be the 100/90 - 16 - the other tire is considered a bit squirrelly - you got to remember, they where made for scooters - lol - but if I could get hold of the pirelli in those sizes that they sell in Europe (not here though so far) we may then have a more interesting tale especially with the 110/70 Pirelli. Stock is fr - 100/80-16 - you can use safely - the 100/90-16 as well in front (the unobtainable in the US Pirelli 110/70-16). Rear - rr is very limited basically to 120/80-16 with the following brand exceptions the Chen Shing 130/80-16, the Kenda 140/70-16 (and the unobtainable in the US Pirelli 140/70-16). You could probably grey market the Pirelli's in but no one has so far;0) GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Swampy, what about throwing on a sticky Pirelli for the front? Since the Kenda, I presume, was only put on for the extra width. |

Kat: Ideally, you should have matched set of tires on front & rear (same brand, same design). It's really not going to matter much though. If it did, you'd have noticed it by now. I've run different tires front & rear for years. Now, mismatching non stock tire sizes and different brands may be a different story. |

Swampy tell me more.......have not heard of it yet... Erik, thks, the Avon is new last season, I just started riding on it, been taking it easy to "break" it in...I will have to be aware of how it is handling. I just got it all back together from replacing the stator and was listening to the primary, etc and everything else. LOL kat |

I wouldnt worry about it Kat.JProvo (James) is a big fan of Avons and I'm pretty sure he's run your tire combination. He can ride pretty hard, so If there was a problem, I'm sure he would have said something. |

When I got home from Cheboygan today the brown christmas van had left the Avon MT51. The Little Kid and I strung up the Big Kids Blast and pulled the front tire off and installed the Avon. I took it out for a ride and even with the square Kenda on the back it seemed fine. I can't wait for the rear Avon to show up. There was no light spot marked on the tire but it ran smooth at 75 MPH so I am not going to have it balanced. (Message edited by swampy on April 28, 2005) |
