Thanks for not bidding against me!!!!! The forks being sold by the same guy went for 2/3 the price of new (or for the price of just the legs, complete, new). Go figure?! |

Erik, glad you got the frame. The secret to Ebay is to "watch" the item until close to the end. Then WAM! you can get it cheap sometimes. Perhaps one of these years we shall see your project. LOL |

WHOOOT here are the real life pictures. I've only done the first coat of paint, so if you see some yellow peaking through, don't worry, I'm not done... I just couldn't wait to put up the pictures |

I love that tail, it really looks GREAT Naustin ! So I'm guessing the LED functions both as a tail light and brake light ? It doesn't look very bright in the photo in the dark, do you think it will show up well from afar ? And what about DOT compliance ? |

Thanks! It doesn't look that bright, because the angle is off axis. It is focused to the rear, and if you look at it from directly behind it looks much brighter. And yes, it is dual intensity, so when you hit the brakes, it over-doubles in brightness. Here is another picture from behind. This is still the dimmer of the two intensities... This light is not DOT approved since it doesn't have a reflector... But oh well. (Message edited by naustin on December 07, 2005) |

It reminds of a funny thing - a guy walks up to me and asks - 'Where can I buy a bike like that?' - I said - 'Buy a Buell Blast then Build from there!' - he reply's - 'What I can't get it like that?' Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

Here's a daylight shot of the new tail light. I'll have more when I finished the rear-turnsignals off - which should be delivered today. I ordered them from Dennis Kirk, and their location is only about 150 miles from me, so standard ground shipping only took 24 hours. I'm using K&S Flush mount (with bolt option) LED marker lights. Black body with clear lens and Amber LED... I'm not sure bright they will be, which of 2 possible locations I'm going to end up using yet.

I got the LED marker lights for the tail. They are smaller, and better looking than I thought they were going to be. I'm really pleased so far, and I can't wait to get home from work and hook them up to power to see how bright they are. I still haven't quite decided where I'm going to mount them. The fact that they are smaller than expected helps a lot though. |

New Blastard (and new rider) here... I've been lurking a while - thought it was about time to say "hi" and post some pics. The previous owner emailed these to me a couple months ago, just before before I bought it. It's a 2000, with about 4500 miles on it. It had the 2-tone seat, low bars, and kerker pipe on it when I got it. I took the strap-thing off the seat, thinking that it was keeping the back of the seat from laying flat. It wasn't, but the look is a lot "cleaner" without it, and since my wife holds on to ME (not the strap) when she rides back there, I left it off. I added a "metro" tank bag - it looks a little metrosexual (LOL) but it's very handy for carrying things! (and easy to remove when not needed) I also put on a pair of "chunky" billet levers, which look pretty tough, IMO. I definately like the feel of the shorty brake lever, but the jury's still out on the clutch lever. I'm having some clutch issues (i think), and also haven't figured out the technique needed for dragstrip type launches, so it will be a while before I know if the shorter clutch lever helps or hurts. I've got some bar-end mirrors on the way, which I think will help "locate" my fingers more consistantly at the end of the grip, which might make it easier to work out a fast & consistant launch technique. I used to bracket race my Mustang, and I'm sure the Blast will eventually make it to the track as well - it's hellaciously fun, and also a great way to tune & test mods. I'm planning to change the jets and to "do something" with the intake very soon - I really like the "open" look of the pro series intake, but it looks like it would get in the way of my leg, so I'm leaning more toward putting a K&N in the stock box. I found a sweet deal on a SE adjustable ignition the other day, so that'll be going in soon too. For now, I'll just play with the advance and see what that gets me. When funds allow, I'll probably upgrade the cams and valvetrain, and put in a high compression piston, so then I'll be able to go up on the rev limiter as well. maybe put on some shiney pushrod tubes too! The tires are OEM dunlops - they have decent tread left, but the back is starting to show a little wear. I'd like the fat juicy look of a 140/70 on the back, but traction and handling are my main concern, so I'll be going with the stock sized Pirelli's at the first sign of dry rot. I'll definately want a tach - probably the $70 JC Whitney special, with some kind of fabricated dash, and either a cut-down stock flyscreen or a cafe style fairing. I'll probably try to rig up some kind of rear pegs & controls too - the stock setup seems poorly suited for brisk acceleration, but I can't see myself paying the going rate for one of the off-the-shelf kits - there can't be THAT much to them! I'll post NEW pics when I have something to show - of course, my plans will probably have changed completely by the time I get around to DOING these things! LOL thanks for all the great info, tips, tricks, and of course the pics! Keep on thumpin'! |

Nice bike - Enjoy! When launching the bike at the track, I get the engine to about 4500 rpm, ease the clutch out until the bike starts to creep, pull it back in a little, then when it time to go, let the clutch out quickly and smoothly while rolling on the throttle. James |

Thanks Spooky, I thought I'd seen that one before. I'm getting a little tired of seeing photoshopped Blasts. More tooling, less keyboard, please! I would like to know however where extended 37mm Blast fork tubes might be found? |
