alright I have a serios question. I'm in desperate need of an exhaust(currently running open header). Everywhere I have tried says that D&D, V&H, and Jardine aren't availble yet. I would like to purchase a Jardine but every place I check says not available yet. Where do I purchase an aftermarket exhaust? I need one so freakin bad!!!

Best bet, try the badweb sponsers first. I know jardine is available, unless they discontinued them as they have had problems lately. I dont remember where I got mine from. If I figure it out I'll get back to ya tho.

Have you contacted D & D, V & H or Jardine directly?
Have you tried Dennis Kirk?


PS We hadnt seemed to have heard of stock exhausts going bad (breaking) until recently. Before the last few, they seemed indestructable.

Well just got a V&H. The local harley dealer had 2 in stock and I said give me one. Already got it installed and it sounds 200% better than open header. Now it sounds like it should.

I've had my pro-series exhaust on for about a week now and I LOVE IT!!!
Simple test to see if your exhaust is too loud: ask yourself one question, Does it stampede cattle? If answer is "no" it's not too loudLOL!!

The Kerker on my Wife's Blast sure scares the poop out the horses next door. I just got the muffler repacking fibers today. It'll have to wait until the week after next since I'll be out of town for a week.

Hi, i am looking for an affordable upgrade on Horse Power & Torque. Seems like the exhaust is a cheap way to start and i guess the actual craftsmanship is ok to do for an amateur.
Besides the change of the bike sound (which i don't care much about), do you actually experience a performance boost? D&D claims additional 4HP / 6ft.-lb. gain.

Double Yes! Changing the exhaust on a Blast is the single best,and easiest by far, performance boost.Unless you do headwork & cams or big bore kit, nothing else comes close.

Caution: While loudness may be of no concern, its a shock to your ears because that loud exhaust is now right underneath them!

Exhaust-the gateway modification!

Question: Does wrapping the exhaust in ceramic tape or getting it ceramic coated really affect horsepower on a single cylinder?

I can see how on a multicylinder engine it could increase the scavenge effect (hotter exhaust gases travel faster?) and possibly reduce back pressure.
On a single would it just depend on how much overlap the valves had to get any real effect?
Or have I missed something and its just snake oil technology?

Ceramic coat is tougher than regular paint, so thats a plus and if it speeds up scavenging even a little - I'll take it.

I put on the Jardine Exhaust today and re-jeted my Carbs.

Man....this Baby is Loud..! I may need to get a silencer to calm her down.

So I reject her to 45/175 and reset the Idle mixture Screw to 2 1/2 turns, but my questions is how do I know she is running at her best..!

Can you tell by the sound, and what does it sound like...!

Check her out..she is really sweet looking.

The easiest way to tune it is to get it on a dyno with a good operator.

Go out to 2 3/4 turns out on your air screw from soft bottom - you should be good to go. Rustolleum Flat Black for the pully will work fine - use a foam brush. Looks like your projects started - sweet!

Ok repacked the Kerker with new fibers from Racetools.com. The verdict.... I think I got about a 15-20% in sound reduction. It is still too loud in my book, but it doesn't make my teeth hurt anymore. I also believe I got a bit more low end power, with a slight sacrifice at the top end. Could be my imagination, I'm not sure. I am still going to explore making my own core and experimenting with different packing densities. That'll be a winter project.

So, over the past couple of weeks I'd been hearing this weird rattling noise. Then the other day as I'm giving my girlfriend pointers on riding, i.e. watching her ride it, I spotted what was making all that noise. The fricking left half of my Pro-Series exhaust is loose and bouncing around from the rear bracket back. There's insulation hanging out and you can see like four inches of this perforated cylindrical thing. WTF?
Aggravation. Now I'm looking at the V&H b/c American Sport Bike has it and that's an easy fix. So I'm wondering, is the V&H worth the $200 American Sport Bike wants?

Jonny-

The Pro Series pipe isn't prone to constant breakage - though they're NOT perfect. I'd suggest you go to the Harley dealer and order just the muffler. There is a seperate part number and I THINK it's 80427-02Y. It's about 1/2 the cost of the whole package - but I think for street use it beats the other pipes unless you're REALLY building for something specific.

V&H isn't a bad pipe, and $190 is about what it has always cost for the last 7 years. They don't crack or fall apart, and you can drill the rivets and repack them when the time comes. Keep in mind they are quite a lot louder than the pro-series.

Maybe the Pro series can be repaired?? Also consider that Buell quit making that pipe and no longer offers any aftermarket exhaust for the blast.

Whatever you do, don't buy a jardine. D&D, V&H, fix whatcha got, or try Sarodude's suggestion.
