Did the isolator - Scott came over and gave me a good helping hand - speeding up the process - so far the Isolator hasn't re-torn after the test ride of looping the city - so I consider it a success! Thanks Scott and the folks here for the help, hopefully this one will last a bit longer and if not - its not that bad an item to change out and the next time would even be more carefully done - if there is a next time - soooo guys - How was the racing????????? Well Folks, My last post was 01 August when I told you about my wreck on my month old Buell. The Blast was totaled by the insurance company. On close inspection, I broke the frame. This Wednesday it will have been 12 weeks since I broke my leg and had a 10 inch plate attached permanently with 10 screws. This Friday the Orthopedic Doctor will allow me to start putting 50% weight on that leg with a big knee high orthopedic boot. For the past three months it has been a wheel chair experience. I now have a greater appreciation for those who are permanently disabled. Some things I never thought of. For example, many stores have complimentary electric wheel chairs. Ever wondered how a handicapped person gets from the car to the store where the wheel chairs are? Ever wonder how you get up two flights of stairs to your apartment? Ever wonder how you get up a curb? Now before you think this is becoming a pity party, let me tell you this. As a military retiree I get my medical treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. I have seen many many young men and women with missing arms and legs, casualties from Iraq and Afghanistan. My leg will get better. They won't grow back an arm or leg. After these young heroes have sufficiently healed they will be medically discharged from their respective service and sent home. You will see them at Wal Mart or McDonalds. Don't avert your eyes from them (another thing I have noticed) It's not catching. Help them enter the store. Doors are difficult. Give them more time to get to the counter or wherever. Don't be in such a hurry that you crowd in front. Thank them for their sacrifice. They were winning, until they were wounded, regardless of what the press says. And remember Al Queda wants you dead, not converted or reformed, but dead. These fine young men and women were keeping the bad guys at bay, and we should thank each one for their service. I'll get off my soap box now. Be careful out there. I hope to see you on the highway soon. |

Get the hi comp piston - 10.5 - rockercover gaskets, damn Dan - that far in I'd replace the head springs with heavy duty units, also the seals and guides(step the guides if you can afford it) and add either the SE550 or B70 cam and really enjoy that rebuild! Concur with EZ-that some of the parts you're replacing may be replaced with Hi-po parts for the same price. |

I wanted to do head springs, but I have too many hobbies to buy the tool to compress the springs and take everything out. the oil pump is getting replaced because my cam that regrinded itself had a few metal shavings run through it. my dad paid for cams and the oil pump, so whatever he got is fine with me. I really just want to get this beast back together though, i'm so sick of paying $40 every 3 days for refilll that beast. I have a loooooooong commute. |

The hi comp piston is the same price as the stocker, damn for the price of the stock cam you could have got the Andrew B50/proseries style cam, those together would really increase your grin factor - even without anything else - lol - definately get the pro series oil gear! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Does anyone know what happened to the Blast engined flat trackers? Are they still competing? Who could sell me one? Here in the UK they have just started a short track series for the first time and we wouldn't mind running one of those |

All I know is it is by long beach. I dont know yet if I am flying down or driving yet, and this morning I was told it might be delayed a month or so. I will only be down as long as the company allows me, or till wife says its time to come home, due to baby on the way in spring time. |

I am really pushing to drive down there so I can bring the blast. That way I can work on it while I am not riding down there. Although I know with the weather down there that will be little or no time not riding. Plus I would like to show it off in person to all of you. And hopefully pick up some more parts while I am down there. But if not then I will figure something out. Maybe pay to have it shipped. I will let you guys know when I find out for sure when and what is going to happen. I do plan on making a trip down to lake isabella while there to see Ferris weather I have a bike or not. Other then that I am up for any rides you guys want to plan. |

Ez, it will be my first time to cali, I dont know where anything is, so how far are you from cypress, and which direction? If I have weekends off out there I am willing to make a trip somewhere. I rode from detroit to appleton in a day that was 464 miles out and 550 back and that was going through chicago so anything is possible given enough time on the blast I guess. But like I said everything is still up in the air, now they are saying the trip might be postponed until February. |
