I am building a supermotard style blast.I am in the process of wiring.I assume the diodes in the fuse block are for the safety switches. If I eliminate all the switches and run the tan/yellow wire from the integrated ignition module to diode#2 then ground the other side of the diode will it run? |

Why did you chose to do that instead of just splicing the wires together so the bike thinks the switches are closed all the time? |

Df: Welcome to the thumper side. James and I just went through this. Maybe he can remember how it's wired. I'm sure he'll post if he does. I opted to bypass (splice) because I really didnt want to pull all the wiring out as we're a little short on time to get the bike ready to race (stock class). I see by the pic of that fine ride, you'd dont have that option. |

I took a new king sporty tank($87 from Jihreh cycles)cut out the tunnel, welded in a new tunnel shaped to fit the backbone, filled in the bung for the petcock & relocated it.I cut out the filler neck & fit the buell cap with extra steel under it for tapped holes in order to screw on the cap.A little sanding, filler, epoxy primer, block sanding, base coat, taped off stripes, lay in stripes & clearcoat. There you have it,a tank with way too much time in it. |

Cool project. Re: Safety switches: It depends what you want to do. The easiet way is to ground pole 85 (the TN/GN wire) of the starter relay, and to ground the LTGN/GY wire going to the ignition module, pin 5. That will effectively bypass the BAS, the kickstand switch, and the clutch switch. Grounding the TN/GN wire running to the clutch switch should effectively bypass all the safety switches except the BAS. BTW, your way will work too (I'm assuming that you mean the TN/Yfrom the BAS) as long as you ground the starter relay. Otherwise the bike will run, but not start. This also leaves the BAS functional. I do believe that is the first custom tank built for a Blast, at least, that I'm aware of. It looks great! |
