Fss,

Thanks for the e-mail. I archived it for the winter when I start the work.

As to the decals, yeah, I was going to give him pictures to work from but my digicam has been taken from me for a while. Hopefully I can still get that done soon. I wantd to do it yesterday. Just want something to distinguish my bike from the others, and everyone seems happy with him both here on the board and on E-Bay.

Rebel,

I've got one with the toe peg busted off from when I dumped my Blast. You're welcome to it if you e-mail me your address @ darthane@comcast.net

yeah I have thought of switching to race shifter configuation a number of times. I just just haven't found a shifter that I like the looks of that is long enough. Stock may work but I don't like the looks.

What kind of frame if I might ask

well i have had my eye on a couple frames actually. one cosideration was an old 2 stroke sport frame something like the rz500. need to get some measurments and all to make sure whatever i get the engine and tranny will fit with minimal mods. i even found an old xr750 road race frame but i'm thinkin that would be to heavy. there are a few other ideas floating around my head mostly limited by the bank account. still have to find a race bike for next year and do something with the cb450 i got for free the other day.

Had an interesting experience today, I was riding down the highway and went to downshift as I was approaching my exit. I still haven't quite gotten used to the rearsets, so sometimes it takes a second to find the shifter, but this time I couldn't find it. I looked down and the toepeg was gone. It had rotated loose when I'd upshift, and had finally vibrated itself off. After some tricky toe work I got home, found a bolt with the same thread and now I have a shift peg again.

:)

I could order a new one, but I think this will work pretty well as I put a stopnut on the backside to keep it in place. Loctite will follow shortly on all the bolts.

I use clear nail polish instead of lock tight on a lot of things because it is easier to remove. But I always use something on all bolts not lock nutted or safetywired

buddy of mine laid his bike down and tore off the foot peg. he found a big bolt and put that in for his new footpeg. so many uses for nuts and bolts :)

oh boy did I have an oopps. I didn't locktite my lower tree bolts because I was gonna get some on my way home from work I took a socket to work and checked the tightness before I started riding home. I stopped for locktite and went out to apply it only to find I had no lower tree bolts...none just an empty space. Well I can tell you now the bolt is a 10mm 1.25 pitch. I used a grade 8, 2" bolt with a 17mm hex head to replace the missing bolts. It was weird I didn't see or hear them go they were just gone.

My Bike

Well, here's my bike as it stands today. I still need to make my own intake, but that's kind of on the back burner until I can get some serious riding time in.

sweet blast dan! One question, my bars are an inch or more forward and straight down toward the ground? Is there a correct position or is it just a personal comfort level?

I believe I mentioned before to everyone about the 1 foot deep sinkhole in Central park I hit at 45 mph!

Well, one week later and now at slow speeds (1-10mph), there is an annoying squeaking noise coming from the front hub somewhere? any ideas?

Check and see if
a)the bearing spacer on the left side is properly lined up (The only way to do this is to lift up the front end a loosen the front axel if there is a gap, snug up the spacer to get rid of it).
b)you have warped you brake rotor (I did this in a similar incident) that is easy to replace ($80) but not neccessary though you will go through pads quicker.
c) bad bearing. I can't give you a how to fix on this one I have never done it on a motorcycle before but it's probably the same as a bicycle you just need to find someone to seat a new bearing (not a job to attempt without the proper tools).

(b) seems to be the most probable cause. I notice the noise more when applying the brakes (front).

Kyus,
Does the noise cease if you lightly apply the front brake?

Howdy,
I'm about to do the 500 mile service on my wife's Blast (part of it anyway) and I need to know a few things since I don't have a manual yet.

1. Transmission oil level
2. Engine oil capacity
3. The torque/back off "this" many flats spec for the primary chain
4. Anything else you can thing of that isn't common sense.

Thanks!

It's been way to long since I've played hooky from work and gone riding. I've spent the whole afternoon riding around town playing on cloverleafs (55-60mph entering speed) and
here map that whole section is a oneway business park ;) it makes for some relly fun riding.

kyuss - personal preferrence is the name of the game on the bars.

no pulsing on front brake and the noise is very random... sometimes its there and sometimes not. but always at very slow speeds (not that I could here it w/ the bubs blasting).

I've smoked through my pirelli and will be going to dealer for new mount soon, so I'll let all know what they conclude on the front of the bike. I must say the last hundred miles or so the pirelli seems to be melting. One day looked fine next it was completely bald? goes quick when iit goes.

Kyuss,
Get the front end off the ground and check your front-wheel and steering head bearings per your owner's manual.

How does it work when you replace the stock handlebars with a Crossroads piece because the wires and and cables will have alot of slack in them. Also how are the rearsets as far as cornering clearance goes? I hate damn near wrecking cause my pegs hit the ground.

Well Dan I have a fairing behind which I can hide all the extra cable. Nothing is "slack" and I am careful to route things so it all runs well without pinching anything. I have on occasion dragged a boot hanging off the peg but I've not run out of peg clearance. I did a lean test against a 02R1 and I had about 3-5degrees on him (I had been able to stuff a wheel under him in tight twisties). He laughed and then asked if I wanted to drag-race.

It felt like I was about to hit a peg yesterday on the cloverleafs, but I was waaaaay over. I definately scuffed my boot though. Now I see why race boots have that big piece over the toe...
