Got the screaming eagle module/ignition on today. Put the advance curve on 6 and the RPM to 7500. It pulls really strong off bottom and through the mid but slows on top end, remember the stock cams are all bottom end and are not a top end cam. The stock cams will pull to 7500RPM but not very fast after 6500RPM. I think the module starts to slowly shut off sooner than 7500RPM I am think about 500RPM before so I might need to push it up to 7800RPM or so. But you can tell that the new advance curve is sure helping this out and low to mid RPM. But if you really want to get some power out of this you have to change out the cams. I did find out that the engine was leaking out of the head gasket. Torqued it down. So maybe the engine was loosing some HP when it was on the dyno.. I will order the new cams B70 and put them in a few weeks. |

Carb in. I'm jet lagged from flying in from Japan this morning but much to my wife's dismay the first thing I have done since arriving home is to install my new carborator. Rather strange it came with a 170 main and 42 pilot I changed the pilot to 45 and installed it. It took me a while to get the throttle cables smoothed out and they still don't moove quite right. Then I had to get my support bracket fitted properly. For now it works but I still need to add a second support, probably going back to the rear subframe area. I mistakenly loosened the low throttle stop screw and after much airmix adjustment I noticed that it realy did have too much throw one turn and it idles quite well. A week in japan looking at all the neat bikes (and roads) has me yearning for some riding. However my current body condition is not condusive to functional thought much less controling a vehicle. |

Quick thought from my 1400 mile loop of WA state: In just 5 days I used a projected one-third of the tire tread from the Pirelli MT75's! Yikes! So, how are the Avon's wearing? |

I fly to Singapore all the time it's just a 8 hour layover in Narita, Nagoya or Kansai that is bad...though I have come back with a 23 hour layover in Bali that was awesome. My point about Baharain is the flight from here (Honolulu) goes to LAX to NYC to London Heathrow (layover) to Amsterdam to Cairo to Baharain changing at each. Our hope is to switch that to Tokyo to Bangkok (layover) Bombay (or New Delhi) to Baharain. That trip is tough no matter which way but going west for me leaves me much less depending on the weather. The trip took me 3 days going east last year...because of weather. BYW I'm halfway through my second passport in 3 years...I travel too much. I fixed my throttle cable stickiness when I got home from work today. And I got my bracket properly situated so that it supports and doesn't drag. I am waiting to get my travel claim liquidated to see how much I have to spend on "upgrades" I'll likely do the forks because that's cheap...easy |

I popped the front wheel of the ground today for the first time. I was at work, and my crew (painting) was moving job sites, they all pulled out while I was still putting my helmet on. Once I was set I pulled the clutch in and revved it up real high, planning for a strong start. To my suprise, but not discomfort, the front wheel rose up a foot or so and I took off. The next 10 times starting out I did the same thing, just for fun. I wish I could get it up (insert Austin Powers type joke here) in second, guess I'll have to Nallinize. -- dan |

They promise the float tommorrow,I can pick it up during lunch, jeez If I took this long to get a part in - I'd not have a job. Only HD can get away with this type of stuff. On to other things - Kyuss - swwwweeeet! Looks like someone is having fun! Looking closely - is that Blast set up for track? No light and a few other things make me ask? Nice paint from what the pics show (could use a few more). Blasting on the dark side! EZ |

Ezblast - you would think he would have rearsets for the track...no? I think it might just be for their show. There are a few more photos of him jumping something and lighting up the tires but they are even further away than the wheelie shot. here is the link if anyone wants to look anyway. http://community.webshots.com/photo/41438869/41440136bYBMny |

Up and running - cracked Direct Hits - next daying another - running the regular - just a tad less crisp - still rolling on the throttle all the way in fourth and letting off slowly did'nt produce the too rich surge that I was looking for. Will check plug during switch out.Blasting on the darkside! EZ |

I was thinking about changing out the front head light to the other Buells that let you change out just the bulb and not the whole light. It looks like all you have to do is buy the light from the other Buell line up.. Has anyone done this change? |

Yes I have. I know Candlepower makes a 7" lens that will go straight into the Blast housing. I know ASB sells it as but then again you can probably also get it from your dealer. As for which H4 bulb you use???? that is a Personal matter. On other Blast matters As I am right at 15,000 miles I'm starting the servicing. Today I changed the plug. NGK makes an Iridium plug for the Blast. Same pt# just ix at the end. I will post any changes that I feel. My plan is to do the tranny Friday along with the oil. Brake pads are to be ordered from ASB tommorrow. I'm only about 1/2 way through the one I have on there but I only have 2 months of riding left before I loose my bike for 4 months. Time to spend money. Works also gets a call tommorrow for the front springs. Though I can afford a new shock it isn't something I "need" yet. Probably something for next spring's (like the Nallinization) off bike cruise (USN). |

CUSHION TEST!!! I've had a set of Dr.Soles gel pads sewn into a pair of jeans I wear riding, one for each cheek. they're not visible from behind. I'm going to Manhattan saturday morning (380 miles) and returning sunday (380 miles). I will report the condition of my arse monday. different note: I filled up yesterday as usual at around 125 miles and noticed (never payed attention before) that I only put in 1.8 gallons... that would suggest that I had 68 or so miles left in the tank? why have I been filling it at 125 for so long? So I should fill at @ 195... that would be great. (b.t.w. - I weigh 134 and have a bubs exhaust) different different note: getting rejetted before my trip... Kyuss - The gas tank on the Blast goes to the reserve somewhere around 1.8 to 2.0 gallons. On your 380 mile (one-way!) trip you'd be safer taking a break and filling the tank earlier. Or you can have the fuel cut out like happened to me last week when passing a semi with another one behind me... With your 134 pounds, putting gel-packs in your jeans is not much different than all the burgers, pizza, and beer most of us put into our jeans over the years. Good luck on your 760 round trip. Let us know how things go. |

Tony, get/borrow a chain-stay/engine hoist and some heavy duty tie-down/towing webbing straps. The straps are thin enough to slide under the backbone frame near the steering head between wire and frame. Put the chain-stay on the rafters, hook the straps to the chain-stay and lift her right up. I did that a few weeks ago while changing out the front tire. Went very smoothly with just one person. (Watch out for the plug on the brake pad pin when removing the front wheel. Mine was frozen on and I actually had to drill it off with on of those reverse drill screw removal bits from Craftsman.) Another method that I have use to suspend the whole bike (thanks to MikeJ)is to use a engine cherry picker type hoist. Remove your seat and hook the hoist on the area where the rear shock mounts. Works pretty well. Ride safe, Jerry -off for a three day weekeng with the wife. |
