Those of you who have had bolts break off in the head: What can I do to keep it from happening a third time? |

Prof, The White Bros. Pipe and Jet Kit made a noticeable difference in the way the bike rides. The midrange dip in power has been cut and I feel more power on the low end. The White Bros. E-Series pipe is tuneable through the discs on the end; I'm running 7 and haven't tried anything else yet. But, the pipe sounds great and looks good too. I haven't had it dynoed. As for the rest of my broken bike, I'll keep ya'll posted. |

Mikej . . . can't find one that'll read a single w/out a bunch of bench-top wonder electronics interposed between the scoot and the tach . . .. I wouldn't mind on my own bike, as I could always jumper any troubles out of the way on the road, when and if . . . .my lovely wife, on the other hand, expects things to work right the first time, all the time (don't ask why she married me ) see ya saturday |

Bomber, Check some of the dirt bike shops and ask about enduro-type tach's. I don't know why that verbage pops into my head, but it does. Uh, how about the TorqueCenter up this way? If my jacket comes in this week I'll swing by there to check. Deciding if I put new brakes on the M2 prior to Saturday or after. If prior I have to remember where I put them. |

Front Tire Some friends of mine borrowed my Blast over the weekend and well lets just say that the front tire does not hold air anymore, Nice hole in it. What would be good to replace it with, other than the stock tire...and where is a good place to buy from? Any ideas. Jeff |

Circlip, Stock Blastdyno 27 RWHP after optimizing static timing and carb jetting. The good news is that with some headwork, a new piston and cams this engine can get close to 50 RWHP. Nallin Racing sells a bigbore kit that will get you 50 RWHP. So buy a used one for $3K or so and spend another $2K on Nallinization and rearsets and you will be one happy thumper pilot. Saro, Nallnize! No question. Get some cams too. Unfortunately that may entail some down time. Not sure what NRHS turn around time is right now. Check our sponsors, they may have kits in stock. Joey, I assume you are referring to the header studs. If that is correct, be sure to avoid over-torquing the header nuts, spec is around 8 FT-LBs I believe. Also ensure that your header and muffler are securely supported. If they can flop around and vibrate they can stress the header studs. |

Blake- Depending on how life and the bike stable progresses, I'd like to go BIG with the Blast - do the 3 13/16 bore. Not sure about stroking the thing yet. However, that's not in the cards right now. I'm just fixing my bike and was looking for some guidance on free-ish HP. In my case, there's massive port mismatch between the intake and the head. I'm just looking for whether or not to address any of it while it's apart and HOW to address it - like fill, grind, both, niether... I've gotten some offline input as well on some inherent unhappinesses (for which I'm grateful!) and would like to do SOMETHING before I slap things together. Also #1: Why does it take me like 1/2 hour just for a couple of allen screws on the rockerbox? Am I missing something? Should I somehow pivot the engine lower than the manual suggests? Also #2: Nobody answered the black pygmy condom question last time. When you go to remove the tank, there are two rubber things on the frame that must be removed to yank the tank. I had to cut mine. How should I have yanked 'em? -Saro |

Bomber, Look at Lockhart-Phillips at the daytona digital tach. Just purchased one for my Blast and looks great. Can't tell you how well it works but it is programable and works direct or induction through the plug wire. After many hours of looking it was the only one that I found that will work with a single. Saro, A long 3/8" extension along with a gentle tap will remove those very nicely. Ray |

Jeff, Look ay Perilli much cheaper and my opinion better than stock. Might also look at Avon but you will have to get Tony's (Xgecko's) opinion on those. Ray |

I was reading Aaron's and Ray's suggestions on how to remove the allen screws holding down the rockerbox when I realized it would also be a great technique for pulling the pygmy condoms. Seriously, I thought you guys were answering the rockerbox question! I was really perplexed until I realized I'd asked more than one question. Somebody get me a doctor... -Saro |

Saro, LOL, I thought the same thing for a second or two. Thought AW had finally lost it. I'm not sure I follow your comment on the rockerbox screws. "Why does it take me like 1/2 hour just for a couple of allen screws on the rockerbox? Am I missing something? Should I somehow pivot the engine lower than the manual suggests?" Are you not able to use a 1/4" socket wrench with a bit driver and maybe a swivel joint? Is it an access/interference issue? |

Blake- The only thing I can put over the left side rocker box screws is a plain Jane allen wrench as the frame interferes. Goings are slow because I get between 1/4 and 1/2 turn - depending on which one I'm struggling with. -Saro |

Tony, I will finally get all the parts for the Nallin project this Firday (if UPS can deliver on time) I should be able to put the bike together this weekend. So far from looking at the head work from Nallin this thing has some serious work done to it. Chamber has been redone, head shaved, bigger valves 1.890 and 1.845, ti collars, heavy duty springs, stainless steal valves, serious porting work, and the special drain port. I am going to run it first with stock cams and see how it goes. I am guess with the stock cams this thing should give a hugh amount of bottom end....(Note: I am thinking that I will have to jump to a 170 since it will run lean with all the air flow) I will run the stock exhaust with a modified stock airbox and K & N. I will try to get it on the dyno. Then work up to exhaust and cams. |

New Pirelli MT75 rear put on the Blast today. Although I prepaid due to the shop having to order it, the shop (not HD/Buell) wanted to double the labor from $20 to $40 cuz they not only had to remove the wheel from the bike but also had to remove the sprocket. The manager, who couldn't find the tire when I came in, prevailed and said NEXT time I would have to pay $40 to have the rear tire replaced. $65+20 labor is what I paid this time. New tire is on and ready for a 800 mile trip next week. So, who has good ideas on a good quality bike stand that will secure the Blast when I remove the wheels and rear sprocket and bring them in to have the tire put on (for no labor cost)? |

I got that e-mail about the BuellsBlast yahoo group too. What's the deal? I though Ralphthe3rd was the mod/owner of that group, who is onelazyhog? I know posts were kinda slow, but I wouldn't think someone would turn on the Blast that quick and that severe. Must have had a real BAD experience recently. |

Blake, I am referring to the bolt on the left of two bolts that connect the top of the engine to the front of the frame through the bracket thingy. It broke of at 6K, then again at 7K. The second one was a grade 11 bolt, or so they told me. Prof, I don't know why they would have to remove the sprocket. When I got my first MT75, the dealer charged me $11 to balance it (this was St. Jo, MO) and that's all. I brought the wheel it, sprocket and all. I suppose some machines may not be able to get around the sprocket... |
