Well my little pony is in the shop for its 1000 mile service. They said it "could" be up to ten days, but they would try to have it out before then. I sure hope so, as I miss my Blast from a practical point as well. I can't go on the HOV lanes in my "cage" (trying to be cool here) and the commute is three times longer. My wife and two visiting grandkids followed me to the shop Saturday, so I did look cool for the grandkids! The folks on the show room floor were also cool, as the let the two grandkids, six and three, sit on a big Harley. So I really can't complain. I just hope they do a good job first, but hurry second. I want to drive on the Skyline Parkway with "Granny" on the back. I have a friend who gave me a t-shirt which says "If you can read this, my Bitch fell off." My wife doesn't think it's funny. She doesn't like the term "Granny" either. Life is good! |

Just got a call that my pony is ready! I'm on my way to pick her up now. It wasn't 10 days after all, just three. |

I have a 2002 Buell Blast with the Vance and Hines SS2R exhaust. The exhaust is about two years old.. Yesterday afternoon the two mounting bolts on the can let go. One completely fell off and out while the other was barely attached to the bolt bracket in the can.The bolt that fell off left a hole in the top of the can and the other is ready to go. Any suggestions ? |

Gansett- I had a V&H that I re-built and re-resurrected countless times. Forget about it. Once it's gone down the road of destruction, life gets dicey. If you really want to repair it, just put a backing plate on the inside of the pipe and bolt it back up to the bracket. FYI, the rear cap (with the exhaust) will easily unbolt. When you reassemble it, make some things better than factory. Threadlocker or (preferrably) safety wire those bolts. Might I suggest replacing that V&H with a Pro Series pipe? I think they're the best all round street pipe. I also think you'll find less failures stories and generally better quality / design with this unit along with a nice, matched up package with the Pro Series Intake. Let us know what you do & how it goes! -Saro |

BWAHAHAHAHAHA Better quality on the pro-series pipe? I got mine and the two exhaust outlets were welded on crooked, so it wouldn't slide more than a quarter of the way into the muffler. I'm waiting on that pipes replacement.....quality control what? That said, I can't wait to get a set of pipes that aren't janky on the bike. Haven't ridden in 6 weeks |

Sarodude, I tried to take the tip off, but the screws on the bottom are rough from smacking the can on bumps and I could barely move the others, I got one off. I would like to keep the pipe on, I have it wrapped and it looks really good. I am trying to come up with an idea to put a new can on. Would anybody know the V and H pipe diameter? |

Gansett: I think the pipe diameter is 1 3/4 inches for a Vance and Hines. For a muffler try this one: Shorty Seamless Megaphone Muffler Part number ZX017567P will work from JC Whitney. I use this muffler with my Vance and Hines when it needs work done. Bolts right up to the pipe with the adapters that come with the unit. The muffler is not quiet and do not bother repacking this unit after the packing blows out. If you do repack expect to do it once a month. If you do not like chrome I believe EZ stated in post once get a universal supertrapp with some discs get good performance. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/20164/112722.html Posted on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 11:18 pm (Message edited by mmelvis on July 22, 2005) |

Yes on the universal ST and you can get it either in black or chrome - use longer cap bolts and 21 discs. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

PS: If you get the shorty muffler from JC Whitney it will cut your horsepower back down to stock (or worse)! It is a good replacement for muffler maintenance though. |

Jug, are you changing the tires yourself ? If yes then call Dave S in sales at 1-866-757-1651 (Appleton, Wi) or look in the sponsor section, be sure to tell them you saw the information on BADWEB. If not going to install them yourself, ask your dealer what the price would be if you ordered the tires from them and brought in the rims. See if you can get free install, my local dealer will give me free install when I purchase the tires from them and bring in the rims off the bike. The price from the local dealer is fairly close to what I get them on the web for with shipping. |

My local dealers suck, I went down yesterday for a rockerbox gasket, told them to make sure it wasnt the paper one, and had a confused parts guy for half an hour looking up parts. I try not to deal with the local dealers if I dont have to. I will check with dave, I was just trying to get some prices right now. I will be changeing these myself. |

Jugallo, I usually use my independent bike shop for tires, If I buy the tire from him, and bring him the rim, he installs the tire for free and balances it. It looks like MAW http://www.accwhse.com/ has pretty decent online pricing. James |

Is it me or do I not find the Pro Series Exhuast on Buell's web site I hope that that is an accident, that is a great exhaust. Maybe Buell is coming out with an improved version. Speaking of Pro-Series parts... When I was at Willow Springs a couple of months back and talking to Erik Buell, he agreed wholeheartedly that the factory needs to come out with rearsets, and that they need to cost less than $500. I hope that the Blast gets some more attention from the factory, but I'm not holding my breath. |

I would pee my pants if buell offered rear-sets for the blast; especially if they incorporated some kind of make due occasional passenger pegs. |

The rear wheel bearing went out on my 2000 Blast. Is there any difference in year models, or are the bearings the same? I was reading the knowlege vault. This bearing went out at 4200 miles. Is there any other suggestions you can offer. |

I am not sure if the bearings are different on the 2000 model. When you put your rear wheel back on, make sure everything is torqued to specs. Over torquing will trash a set of bearings. |

Hello folks. My short term relationship with my Blast has been put on hold for awhile. Last Wednesday, on my way to work, while merging to the right lane, the car behind me merged faster and hit my rear wheel sending me to the pavement. The Blast suffered scratches and a broken front left turn signal. I suffered scratches and a seriously broken left leg. The tibia and fibula were both broken. I was operated on Wednesday evening and they placed a permanent metal bar and screws in my left leg. I have to stay off it for twelve weeks. So be careful out there! I literally didn't know what hit me. I found out from the witnesses as the talked to the Police. Of course the guy who hit me didn't stop. I've been riding on and off since 1960. This is my first, and hopefully last accident. So take care. |

Glad you got away with only a broken leg. If they find the guy, he should be charged with 1st degree assault with a deadly weapon, 2nd degree attempted murder, felony fleeing the scene, reckless driving, and 1st degree being an . I'll bet it was a 19yr. old, thinks his peice-o-crap car is fast, lives with his mommy, unemployed, uninsured, loser blue-balled punk. Was the witness able to id the car?? |
