One other thing, it made no noise. When it disengaged, it felt like I missed a shift (even though it was already positively in gear). I could feel it reengage a moment after I back off on the throttle. |

Yup thats about what it feels like only it's not WOT for me but about 1/2-3/4 then again it's easier for the bike to have more torque in a lower gear |

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a tall seat for the Blast? After another hundred miles on the stock seat, I think I'm ready for an upgrade. I was thinking if I could find another tall stock seat, I could have a custom one done by Sargent and still have the original. I missed one on ebay a few weeks ago. |

I love my Clubman Bars, the look and feel in the twisties is definitely a plus! BUT... I did a 180-mile round-trip ride on Saturday and after 45 miles or so I thought my wrists were broken!!! I could hardly light my cigarette the pain in my wrists was so bad! ... I'm hoping that I might strengthen a muscle or adjust in time because it aien't looking like I'll be riding to Laconia with them on! |

Kyuss - I know what you mean, that's why I spend most of my time in a tuck (going distances anyway). If you put some of your weight on your chest on the tank you can give your hands a break. -- dan |

Pillow on the tank works wonders. You look a little silly, but it's a lot more comfy for long hauls. Ever seen a squid pop off a gixer from a 300 mile ride? I've never seen one taller than 4 feet... try not to put all your weight on your hands anyway, you should be balanced between your body and your extremities. Read an article on that somewheres and can't remember where it is... [Ds] |

Took a short trip with a pair of flip-flops in the front of my jacket (couldn't find my backpack). It was the most comfortable ride I've taken. Out of the wind, padded, comfy hands... it was great. Maybe I'll see what I can do about sewing some foam in the front of my jacket. -- dan |

Is the Corbin seat worth the money? Does anyone have one that would strongly suggest to or not to buy the seat. Thanks |

My setup works very well for me with the Clubman bars. I have a Chase Harper Tankbag that I lean against. Couple this with Crossroads rearsets and a Corbin seat and I rarely have any pain. Granted my abs get a workout now where they didin't before and I hold the tank with my knees more but that's not really something I care a whole lot about. |

"WOT" means Wide Open Throttle. Most tankbags are also pillows. Some better than others the Buell tankbag is a pretty lumpy one my Chase Harper is a very good one |

Well my wifes blast is only just over a week old and is back in the shop for the second time. The first time was the first day when it was found the cam seal was missing.Oil was coming out of the timing cover.Today it went back to the shop gas is pouring out of the carburetor venturi into the air box. Apparently a stuck needle? My wife said she thinks she bought a black lemon (its a black blast) hopefully they will quickly rectify the situation. This is her first bike and it would be nice if this was a positive experience. scot |

Rob, same thing happened to me when I got my bike. Turned out a faulty electronic "safty" sensor went out, and the engine turned off for safty reasons. I checked everything out, and I knew it was electrical, but couldn't figure out what happened. After a call to the dealer, they explained how to circumvent the safty circut and the bike roared to life. Mine turned out to be a bad connection on the clutch, but it happened again later on the kickstand. Once you know what to short, it's easy to turn the bike over.. don't know if that's whats wrong with yours, but hope it helps! [Ds] |

thanx dust, i'm not sure what it is either but i will be taking it back to the dealer soon to have them check it out. it's not really safe to be doing 60 mph and have the engine just stop on you! maybe it's just a thing with black blasts...hahaha...actually the bike was purple and i had them change the palstic out for black. my dealer claimed they don't make 2002's in black , so they used a 2001's bodywork, are they lying? |

I was thinking of a blast for my first bike. Are there any reasons that this is or isn't a good idea? I'm signing up for the motorcycle safety course in my area today, and its held at a harley/buell dealership, so I may be learning on a blast. |

Scubasteve... I think the blast would be a great first bike in general, and a perfect one if you like to tinker. In general, I think the bike that is right for learning or as your first bike is probably different then the bike you will end up riding long term (in most but not all cases). The few times that I have seen someone try and get one bike to address both phases, they had too much bike to learn with, and not enough bike when they were done. Take into account how good your dealer is. Without a good local dealer, the ownership experience suffers. My closest dealer that I still trust is now almost 70 miles away, my two locals have proved to be uninterested or unreliable. I'll go get parts from them in a pinch, but they are not touching the bike again. There are some great blasts used for some great prices. Bikes REALLY depreciate quickly, the blast is better them most (because it starts out cheaper then most). If you buy used, this is a good thing. If you buy new, its a bad thing, but either case you are talking a $1000 to $2000 difference over a couple years, so its not a huge deal. Same deal with dealer prep... a good "previous owner" will do a better job of getting everything set up and working right then a bad dealer will... The MSF class you signed up for is GREAT! Excellent decision to start with that! If you have a Scuba background (duh!), then you will take to motorcycling like a fish to water Do it right and follow the rules, and it is pretty safe and very enjoyable. Do it wrong, you die. Nothing to it. Another dive buddy of mine who also rides, we use the expression "I called the dive" regarding riding the bike to work... for example "I was already really late, and there was fog, the road surface was wet, traffic was going to be heavy, and I only got about 4 hours sleep the night before, I "called the dive" and brought the car in". I would like to see more of that penetration of the "call the dive" concept into the biking community... Anyone can call any dive for any time for any reason and not get abused for it, and in fact may get some grief from his/her buddies for NOT calling a dive when they should have. IMHO |

Thanks for the ideas everyone, I'll try the suggestions but I'll probably leave my pillow with the smurfs pillowcase at home Xgecko - which tank bag did you choose from Chase Harper? Buellblast - I'm in Lake Placid, NY... about 260 miles northeast of laconia. And I hope I can keep up with the crazy kneeburning speedbarrier-breaking jap-riding bikers I'm going with! we have a campsite about 20 miles outside of town... |
