Has anyone had a problem with the starter switch. Most of the time when I start it is no problem. Sometimes I have to push it several times before anything happens. Sometimes I have to pull the clutch back and forth before it will make contact. Otherwise every thing works ok. Heat or lack of it does not seem to make a difference. Sometimes happens first thing in the morning sometimes when it has been run for awhile. I'm thinking dirty contacts or maybe the switch is going bad. Otherwise the safety switch for the clutch maybe going. Any ideas?? |

Sound like the clutch safety switch. Get a voltmeter and test the switch. Or reverse the diode for it and see what happens. You can easily remove the switch and check it out for debries, damage, or a failure of the plunger to pop out. |

If I can find it, or you can do a search, there is a diode u can flip to bypass the clutch switch, I'll try to find the link tho jd |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/20164/55319.html This should work. If you are still having problems, then check into the starter button. (Message edited by jerzydevil on June 28, 2005) |

Once again...the KV pays off with a solid piece of advice. This is the first time I've used the KV for the Thumper. Keep up the good work!!! |
