Swampy - my wife actually gets literally jealous if I spend to much time on here. That's why I usually only come on while I'm at work. |

Just did 145 miles, the last 50 in the rain. A great time, but my boots are not waterproof. |

Wow, had an adventure on friday. Tore the top end down on my 2001 blast to do the rocker box swap, and found that there was a horrible leak coming from the PCV valve. I think this was the source of my entire leak, as the rocker box swap had already been done...crap! So I cleaned that PCV valve out, then used blue RTV silicone to seal it all up, hopefully I won't have oily residue EVERYWHERE now..... |

I may have trouble on the horizon. It looks like the slider bushing on one of my front forks has gone out. The right fork is just fine, but the left is pretty much usless, it leaked all it oil. While I have ordered the replacement parts already, something has come up. Anybody know of a temporary fix? I doubt I will need to do it, but I may have to ride the bike about 500 miles one day. |

Did the fork bushing go out, or the fork seal? I'd just refill the fork unitl I got around to fixing it. James |

While a 500 mile long wheelie sounds appealing, i am afraid that wheelies are what blew the bushing in the first place. No matter though, I managed to get my hands on another bike, so i wont need the blast. Thanks |

I met a guy today at the local HD dealer ONLY please! Just went in to check out the new bling bling (actually bought a spark plug across the street at the sportbike shop for the Blast). Anyways this guy has a Blast and is putting a Nallin 600 kit in it. I told him to check the Badweb out so maybe we will see a new crew member. |

Could anyone out there advise whether the ignition module or whatever controls the rev. limiter from a 2005 Blast (7500 rpm.), could be retro-fitted to a 2001 Blast (5500 rpm) If this is doable, are there heavier valve springs that should be fitted?? Thanks in advance. |

A 2005 Blast has the same ignition as a 2001 Blast - if you switch out to the Pro-Series Screaming Eagle ignition, and add some heavy duty springs, guides and seals then you could up your RPM to 7500 - however, unless your adding a cam different from the stocker, I wouldn't bother. while we are talking ignition modules...... The Big Kids Blast died on him again today, no spark. I popped the ignition cover off, and when crankig it the LED did not flash. I cooled the module down with a wet cloth and after a while it started up. Is there a way to check these? Or should I swap out coils first? Or should I start someplace else? |

No, however, it could well be ignition considering the year, its easy to chek coil - just see if your getting spark - if you are and it still happens - my bet would be the ignition - thats pretty severe though - I would check the deutch connectors first on the ignition first for looseness - a usual sign of a bad ignition is a hard backfire at a certain rpm area - could even shut ya down, but its usually just a single backfire, not a series, and really hard - the kind that make ya say - "Damn - what was that?!" - lol How did it die? - With a pop, or just stop working - there is a test procedure in the manual for the coil, but an old battery could shut you down as well - so make sure everything in that area is tight as well. The Big Kid said it only back fired 3 times on the way up to grandmas, 60 miles, then when he was waiting at a flagman for road construction it sputtered a few times and quit. Well to think about it when I had it out it backfired once on me earlier. That bike always did run along just fine then pop, pop, then go fine for a while and pop. OK - I'd check the ignition connection first, then if that doesn't do it (knowing you checked for other lean conditions - boot and loose exhaust and that air screw is 2 3/4 turns out and the jets are clean, and that the sparkplug and wire are tight) then I would suspect the ignition. I never checked - is there a testing procedure for it that is reliable - the dealer didn't know of one for the red but I knew of the symptoms from other folks - and in the end that is what it was - I would check everything else first though. I just went through the carb boot, tank vent, and checked the exhaust. All of the electrical connections have been cleaned, new sparkplug, and the wire and boots cleaned and checked. If the coil or wire were bad I would still see the LED flash when cranking, right? |

Yes - that is why I also suspect the ignition - the coil needs the ignition signal - if it isn't working - nothing else will - did you check the ignition wire connections - the deush connectors - they are a pain but I've worked on such before - if any of them are loose you could also get such symptoms. Ok, I swapped out coils, sparkplug wires, then the carbs and boots, and(For me when I ride it) it still pops along at 3/4 rpm range. I would guess....Ignition module? |

Well. Still waiting on my jardine replacement, after two weeks. Got tired and ordered the pro-series exhaust, how does it sound compared to the jardine? I'm hoping it'll be more throaty and less machine gunny..... |

Without changing your springs, guides, and seals - the Pro-Series/Andrew B-50 is as far as you can go, however, going to heavier springs, better guides (step Them), and seals for street - I'd recommend either the B-70 or SC E series - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |
