My head turns 360 degrees but really, that is a good question! I ordered bar ends about 3 weeks ago, I better call and find out whats going on... This is the third time CycleMall USA has been either out of stock or fumbled up my paperwork and lost the order. I think I'm heading elsewhere from now on! |

Where did you get the bungie net that is holding on your helmet? That looks like a handy thing to have. |

Mapes, you can get those at most cycle shops. It's a cargo net. Most have 3 hooks on each side, some have 2. They are also available in a couple of different sizes. They are more popular on jap sport bikes & subsequently, easier to find in a Honda, Suzuki, etc, type shop. Tail bags are even more handy. A number of different makes are available. Dave |

Dave, Thanks! I got the saddle bags for the Blast. They are nice for short trips. The cargo net (AKA "bungy netty thing") looks like it might be handy when the saddle bags are off. I bought the tank bag too, but I'm still not comfortable with it yet. I've heard that I will love it eventually, but right now it feels like a distraction. Thanks for the heads-up on the Leesburg thing. It sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately I have a prior engagement that weekend. Plus, I would really like to be able to RIDE there and I am pretty sure that requires going faster than 40 MPH which is my current max. I'm getting better though, two weeks ago it was 25 MPH. How's you wife doing with the Blast? Still liking it? |

Hi, All I'm new to the cycle world too. Just got a yellow Blast in Sept. I LOVE HER!! Yes, I've had that oil pukeing problem too. Yuck. Can I do anything about it? At my 1000mi check up the H-D guys said not to worry but I'd like to know what can be done, if anything. It gets on my pants sometimes. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to get any Buell posters? And, lastly, I was told when I bought my bike that the Blast is torquey and is easily wheelieable, but mine starts out slow off the line then picks up speed 1-2 seconds later. What am I doing wrong? Badazug - A company called Creative Cycle Products makes a product called "The Cure". It solves the oil puking. The kit itself is about $20, but to install it you have to pretty much dissasemble your engine. I have not installed it yet, but I plan on it once I get my tax return. (yay). As for the wheelies... clutching one is no problem, but a rollon still eludes me. Oh well, it's probably a good thing I don't try very often. Wish it would warm up here, last Monday it hit 91. Today, the high was 45. Grr.... |

Roll on is easy, you just have to be standing on the rear pegs. For example - from idle or about 5mph, put your feet on the back pegs and roll the throttle, as it "jumps", pull back on the handlebars and push down with your legs, the front should come up easy, just be prepared for it( EG, you do't have access to the rear brake peddle, which means if you roll to hard, you won't be able to stop the accension and roll the bike over backwards..) FRom that position it's eas to ride a Blast on the rear pegs and stand up, enough to see whats in front of you. Best I've done yet was a rollon from 30Mph, but I had to shift down to 2nd gear and clutch it a little bit to pop the front. **** Wheelies are dangerous, and the Man hates them. Do NOT do wheelies in the presence of the Man, or in a situation that may hurt you. Practice in a large open area with smooth pavement free from debrie like a college parking lot that you've swept up a bit. these tips won't save you from falling and getting hurt, but they will give you a heads up. **** [Ds] |

[Ds] - Was that with the stock handlebars? Cause with the lowered ones it seems like it will be harder.. I say "seems like" because I still haven't replaced the grip that I had to cut off, and the old one is just taped on (gonna replace it this week). Anyway, I'm going to complain about the weather here. It was 91 a week ago! Guess what the weather is like now? 3 inches of snow! GAHHH!!! |

Hello all. My wife has a blast with her Blast, but would like to get a few more ponies. She's an experienced rider (15 years, MSF, etc.) who just happens to be of small stature. She loves the Blast, and has already replaced the exhaust (V&H), the air filter (K&N) and re-jetted. It is now loud (!!!) and a bit quicker. My question: Is there a recommended overbore for the Blast? Can it be taken to 600cc and not blow up? I know that Honda's GB500 can go to 600, and my Yamaha SR500 is running a juiced-up 540 overbore. Please send words of wisdom. My M2 is just fine, thanks! Nataraj |

Mapes I have had the optional Blast windshield on mine for about a year, and I'm pleased with it. The only problem I've had was an annoying rattle at idle. If you have this, try rubber bands pulled tightly into the gap between the "L" rods that support the top of the shield and the ball joints that are screwed to the shield, then secure with a couple wraps of black electrical tape. It's hardly noticable and the rattle goes away. Cheap and easy. Ride safe, have fun! Dick |

Nataraj - There is a company that makes a big-bore kit for the Blast. Nallin Performance (or something like that). I haven't had any experience with it, but I'm pretty sure some people here have.. I bet they'll pipe up here shortly. How long has she had the Blast? I know when I first got mine I felt like I could get of and push it faster. After a couple days riding I got used to the way it accelerates and I'm now perfectly happy with it. |

Keep in mind that your Blast already has a cylinder and piston from a 1200 Buell on it. The reduction in displacement, from 601 down to 492cc, comes from the Blast's shorter stroke. Nallin Racing offers a bolt-on 3-9/16" bore kit (stock is 3-1/2) that takes it to 511cc. Look here to get an idea of the bike's potential with this kit. Stock they're about 27hp. If you're willing to remove the motor and split the cases, you can take these things all the way up to a 3-13/16" bore, which is 585cc. Several people make the hardware to do this, including both Nallin and Axtell. Axtell is famous for big-bore kits, they've been doing it a long time. They offer cast iron cylinders, which are a whole lot stronger and only about 6 lbs. heavier. Finally, Nallin is also developing a 3-13/16 stroke kit, which when combined with the 3-13/16 bore kit will get you about 713cc. Good luck! AW |

713cc's..... that just incredible on a bike like this. I'd have to double up my health insurance for sure, it'd be there every other week for being stupid. Dan - Yep, it was with the Crossroad's lowers, not the ones you have. I had to tug hard, and clutch it just a litle bit to pop the front loose, but once nailed, it rose right up. Try to stay above 4500rpm (just listen for the whine, you'll know) and it'll take off. It's a lot easier to do on the Kawak(that stupid thing will wheelie in 4th), but the Blast is way more fun! You can lowspeed wheelie for ever, just watch out for cars and open doors.. IMHO, I found it easier to wheelie with the stock bars, the leverage was higher, for stoppies, nothing beats the low bars, I have way more control, but as always, YMMV.. [Ds] |

mmm.... 713cc blast... I think I just wet myself. [Ds] - Do you have to lean way forward to pull a stoppie? Seems like the suspension is too soft to be able to bring the wheel up unless your hanging off of the front of it. Of course (If you haven't guessed from all my questions yet), I really don't have much experience with this sort of thing. dan |

oil appears on jug can this be the RockerBox? two three hundred miles Any advice? I bought the gaskets but I'm not sure how much non-engine disassembly has to be done to get the job done. BTW, yes, the bike is under warranty. However, My insane (mis)fortune with HD mechanics and my previous Blast make the warranty repair a non-option. -Saro |

Mapes, Lisa is still loving the Blast. I put on her saddlebags this weekend & installed some bar end mirrors. Great visibility & more attractive than the mirror stalks. The saddlebags will work good. For longer trips I'll lug most of the stuff. We'll be having the new running lights, tailights & a tach installed on Friday. She's still learning too & getting used to a different bike. She's much more confident on the Blast than her other bike, however. 25mph to 40mph, that's an improvement. If you continue at that rate, you'll be up to 95mph (about top speed on the Blast) in less than 6 weeks! Dave |

Saro, Most likely it is coming from the rockerbox gasket. Starts on the front and will weep oil onto the cylinder cooling fins.(Which is how I discovered mine, the smell of burning oil)Mine started weeping at ~3400 if I remember correcty. Do you have a set of metal gaskets? Unfortunately mine started to leak about 2 weeks before the notice of rocker box gaskets being changed at the factory and at the dealerships. So my replacements are paper also. Not sure how much is involved on the replacement. (mine was under warranty and I didn't have the time, so the dealer did it.) If you need any guidance from the service manual let me know. I'm pretty sure the tank needs to be removed and possibly the motor needs to be pivoted down.(I will have to look at the manual tonight) If I recall correctly, Phillyblast did the change himself. Philly? Of course you could always ask the "King Blastard", Mr. Wilson. Jerry P.S. Glad to here you and Loli are O.K. after your run in with the moronic-kind. Bikes can be fixed. I haven't had nearly anything that close happen to me, but I can understand where you are coming from getting upset with yourself. The couple of times where I have had an almost mishap, I have yelled at myself a lot. |

Everytime I hit a dip or bump in the road (usually at 30 mph or higher) my speedometer takes a nose dive down to zero and then back. It wouldn't bother me too much except for when I'm heading into a twisty, hit a dip, don't know how fast I'm going and then into the turn! anyone have this problem? |

Does anyone use the trigger on the left grip to flash the bright lights? What is this intended to be used for. Is it something to use to modulate your lights and make you a little more visible? Just wondering... |

Mapes: I usually use it(headlight trigger) to warn the oncomming traffic of speed traps. As for a pratical use, every now and then I use it when I don't want to switch the brights on for a moment.. Saro, I had the dealer do mine under warrenty, but if it's anything like a car, it can't be that bad.. Dan, as for stoppies, there are numerous web pages around that will teach you how to them. Just remember, if you get nervous, let the front brake go, don't grab hard. If you grab hard, it'll come over on ya (ouch..) and generally put an end to your fun for a week or so. Make sure the surface you're practicing on is clean, and your tires are hot (run zigzags in the lot for a few minutes, hard turns etc..) get up to a good speed, (about 25-30) and do a progressively harder grab on the front, the bike will dive on its own, you don't have to help.. at it's lowest point, grab a bit harder, and the rear should come off the ground. Practice this slowly, how hard you brake determines how high your rear raises. the first couple of times try for about 3-4 inches, once your comfortable, go higher. Keep in mind though, Stoppies put undue amounts of pressure on your bearings, and aren't as nice on your suspension as wheelies.. and yes, the ticket is more, don't ask.. Kyruss, thats a new one, mines never done that.. [Ds] |

I usually use the passing light (trigger) to light up a corner before I get to it. If I turn the brights on I almost always forget that they're on and get honked at like crazy. |

Ramon- Here's what happened at the end of December... I called up the 'principal' of the particular dealer. We'll call him John. "John, it's Saro again. Bike is unrideable again. I bought a new bike and got anything but. I want a new Blast. I don't care how. It doesn't have to be tomorrow or next week. Call me when you have my new bike. Oh, Happy New Year." No arguments. He knew I was at the end of my patience. The next phone call I received was to tell me that a new Blast was waiting for me. It took 8 days for me to ride the new bike after that call. If I understand correctly, they bent some rules and did the Blast trade-in thing for another Blast... I wasn't told much but that's what I suspect. I asked Buell CS if I'd still be elligible to trade up and they claimed I would. I personally don't think - I know they were tired of hearing my voice. This wasn't a California Lemon Law thing. If they Lemoned the bike (still not TOTALLY sure if it can apply to bikes) the bike would carry a Lemon title (kinda like a salvage title) for the rest of its life. Most of the problems with my bike were due to severe dealer neglegence and / or incompetence. The Original problem that started the bike down a path of ruin was, however, a manufacturer problem. If anything would've made it a lemon, it would've been that. 30 days in the shop for any single problem (even if it's multiple visits adding up to 30 days). I had OVER 30 days in one fell swoop. When I got the bike back ofter the 30+ days, the motor made a terrible racket. I told the factory I'd stop using the word Lemon if they packed up a new motor and sent it to the dealer ASAP. They did, so did I. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop. The dealer kept screwing things up. I had to look out for myself. From where I stand, HD shops have an awful lot to do before I'll ever let 'em even change my oil. If Buell CS EVER raises a stink about me doing all my own work, all I've got to do is point to my old Blast issues. Buell, regretfully, didn't make a dime on my bike. 1 top end plus 2 complete engines on top of the boat anchor of a motor that shipped with the bike. I'm much happier being the mechanic in charge. Erik - if you or your people happen to read this, I know that everyone breaks a few eggs when making an omlette. You were just 'helped' by a particularly bad service department. I understand what is under your control and what isn't. I did have to do what was best for me. I just wish it weren't so easy for monkeys to become 'Buell Certified'... -Saro |

Dan, you don't have to be a StarBoy to use those tricks, they come in handy when you least expect it.. eg, you're at a stoplight, first in the gate, and some cager comes barrelin down on you. You check both ways for crosstraffic and nail it to escape getting rearended. You will wheelie, I guarrentee it. On the other shoe, you are approaching an intersection while comming of an exit ramp. Just as you are about to shut it down, some cager decides his lane isn't good enough, and switches to yours. Depending on distance, the first thing you will do is nail the front, hard! Thus begins a stoppie... Knowing what the movements feel like prepares you to start reacting to the situation. How you react could mean how much skin you have on your bum at the end of the day. Neatest trick I ever learned was to slide the rear wheel in a turn. In racing it gives you a better exit, on the street it helps you regain your balance after going through water/sand/oil just a tad to fast and at the wrong angle. Knowing is half the battle (Tm* GI-Joe) [Ds] |
