Got another question.. From what I can see, the Crossroads rearsets eliminate the passenger pegs. Had anyone heard of a set of passenger pegs that is compatible with the Crossroads? | ||

I could be wrong - but surely you could use the passenger set with the Banke set up also -but as earlier said why bother if your toteing passenger. Keep Blastin - my ride home took over an hour and I only live 15min.s away - fun,fun, fun! | ||

Hey everyone I finally put the S-1 bars on the bike and they are wonderful. They are a little lower than stock and put you more closer to the bike and your hands farther out on the bars. These are the bars that should have been on the bike in the first place. The bike feels more in control at all speeds. They cost $49.00, you will need to buy a grip for the left side (note: the best way to put on a grip is to run very hot water down the inside of the grip, this makes it bigger but it will shrink when it cools down and it fits very tight). $5.00 for the grip and you will have to drill a small hole in the ride side of the bar for the placement of the clip that holds the contols on the bars. All the cables on the bike will fit so you do not need to buy longer ones. It took 30 minutes and the best investment so far. If anyone needs pictures or help let me know... Total $54.00 | ||

The biggest reason I want the rearsets is to change the seating position. I am much more comfortable with my feet back, the ground clearance is an added bonus. Most of the time I ride solo, but every now and then (read: always), the girlfriend wants to ride with. Maybe eliminating the passenger pegs wouldn't be such a shame...  Guess that mean's she'll have to get her own. Which Banke set fits the Blast? I've looked at the website, but none of them say they fit. (I've put 1000 miles on in a week. The temperature hasn't been above 50. This bike is way too much fun.) | ||

check the custom portion of their sight and you'll have to contact them on price but the high end crossroads are only $50. more and they look nicer - keep Blasting! | ||

is anyone here biding on the crossroads bars on ebay??? i don't want to compete against anyone. But those bars are making me dream  Not only are the custom rearsets better than stock but the added clearance is so much that I can get more lean than the tire has tread for. The Corbin seat is heavier, I think maybe a pound or two but I'll take the weight in exchange for the added comfort. | ||

Tony: You will LOVE the Crossroads lowerbars, I am 6'1" and usually rode on the passenger pegs, they pushed me down nicely. Unfortuantely the GF snagged them for her blast when i went to clipons ( Hey, it was a cheap Xmas present).. Best of luck to you friend, just don't put too much money on them, if I had to do it again, I wouldn't spend over 110$ on them... Dansherman: That's what I did, I just kept riding on the passenger pegs and scooting back till my backside was on the "firm" section of the seat.. eventually she figured it out and got her own Blast.. I just spoke with James at Banke performance. Apparently the rearsets he made were a one-off for a guy who wrecked his blast a short time later. He was, however, willing to set up to make more of them if there was a demand for them. He indictes his design does involve moving the rear brake master cylinder and installing a longer brake line. The design is not currently set up to have rear pegs installed, but he thought perhaps coming down from the seatrest for rear passenger pegs might be a better/different option. He was willing to give a quote based on interest, so I guess the question is...what is the interest level in these things? I told him I would call hiom back in a couple of days if any interest was shown. If there isn't, well, I will pay the $625 that he did the one off for the other guy for, I like the look, but he indicated it would be cheaper if others were interested. Jim | ||

Well, I took the new bars for a quick spin during the short break from the rain... I must say, they are superbly comfortable, as long as my feet aren't on the standard pegs. Mavinwy - I'd be interested in a set, as long as they included passenger pegs. As you said, it looks like it wouldn't be too hard to make a piece similar to the stock footrest assembly (link to picture). If the arm for the control pegs dropped straight down instead of sweeping forward, it might be perfect. I don't know a whole lot about the billeting process, but I could make a nice set out of wood . Dansherman, I was just looking at the pics of your Blast! The clubmans look sweet. Do you have any problems with the controls hitting the tank before full lock? When I tried a set of those it seemed that I couldn't make'em fit no matter what.  maybe I'll give it another go. Jonny Z | ||

Thanks for the compliments! Jonnyz - If the middle section of the bar is placed horizontally, you can go into full lock. The way mine are placed, I can force it into position, but I really never lock my bars so its not much of an issue. [Ds] - That is the correct URL, but when I purchased mine the price was $14.95 + shipping, looks like they've gone up to $24.95. Still worth it, considering Crossroads are $190. The bars are designed so that the middle U shaped section is on one plane, and the grips sweep down from there. I found that tilting the U shape a little bit up from horizontal (15 degress or so) made everything work nicely. I've added a quick step-by-step on shortening your front turn signal stalks to my page. It's nothing groundbreaking, but I hope to add more of that stuff as I get ideas for things to do. | ||

Oh, I forgot to mention it.. The bars that I have sit what looks like (from the pictures that I've seen) a few inches lower. Still comfortable though. | ||

So I rode out to Crossroads today (50 miles from home, beautiful country). I went out there to ask them about rearsets with passenger pegs. When I asked Brandon (a X-road guy) about it, he got a funny look on his face and said that nobody has ever asked that before. We spent a half hour or so talking about possibilities of cutting the existing Y frame that the pegs are mounted on, and installing their Custom Race Rearsets. Decided that it was a possibility but not very likely. Brandon called Mark (the boss) over and they came to the conclusion that it wouldn't be a very good idea to try. HOWEVER they said that they would do some brainstorming and possibly come up with a new design that would allow for a passenger! So, I should be getting a call from them in the next week or so. Grips come down to personal preference. Personally I hate the spongy soft foam grips, and don't care for the floppy-ribbed versions. I usually go for firm rubber grips as they seem to provide a more-positive feedback to the grip. Choose what feels good to you, and worry about the cost later. Anything under $20 comes in under the "cost of a dinner for two" price decision factor where you decide that if the price makes a difference in your wallet then you eat at home one night instead of eating out. Anyway, just an opinion. Take care. |
