when replacing my rear wheel and belt, i noticed that the belt seemed tighter than i'd like. is there any way to adjust belt tension on the Blast!? Thanks... |

Kind of a strange question, but something I noticed following my roomie around on his Blast. As we were zipping along onto the freeway, I noticed a very slight "flexing" from the rear swingarm under heavy acceleration, like the power from from the belt was twisting the swingarm on the bike in a (uhoh, this is a 3 dimension description) left-right motion. (where front to back would be the way the wheel rotates, and up and down are the vertical travel). Obviously I don't notice it when I'm riding, but i wondered if that's normal do to the sprocket ratio's and amount of torque coming off the crank. The only time I ever really notice any left-right flexation is when I ride down a road with straight (HA! like those things are straight) "rain grooves", and then it feels like the bike is having difficulty tracking a straight line. I never decided if it was the smaller tires falling into the grooves or the swingarm/frame twisting. Am I crazy? Has anyone else noticed this? Just wondering.. [Ds] |

Twist from belt load? No. Flexion in isolators under acceleration? Yes. |

Dust_storm, The frame on the Buell Blast is almost as stiff as the X-1. The suspension is not the greatest and combined with the wind pushing on your shoulders you give small imputs on the bars at speeds and if makes the bike wonder around on the road. This is what you are feeling. As for the twisting you are feeling the isolators moving. This is why you bought the Buell. not a H-D. |

Thanks, I figured i wasn't crazy. Kinda spooks me though, now I wonder what a Harly would be like in terms of flex... [Ds] |

this is with fairing painted...(photoshop) also trying the clubman bars (only $25), if I don't like I can sell for 2 bills on ebay... I think the fairing will need more chopped with clubmans so I don't know?!

Anyone using the Blast windshield? If so, how is it working out? |

Kyuss - nice looking bike. I can't see very well from this angle, but it looks like the fairing should work with the clubman bars. Let us know how it goes! Mapes - Which windshield is that? It was 85-90 degrees today, and I managed to get sunburned putting 200 miles on! That brings my total up to 2000! This thing gets better and better! |

Kyuss, nice job! I think it'll look great painted to match the rest of the bike. Remember: Red is faster! But not as quick as Blue! Dan, watchout for sunburn, it's getting that way here! Lot of sunscreen is just the ticket, but I'm starting to look like a fruitcake from my half tanned arms (I usually wear short-sleeves and gloves). In the last month I've racked up close to 2000 miles, and it's not even June yet! See what happens when your commuter decides to do double duty as a fun bike? The ride home just keeps getting longer and longer... [Ds] |

Sunburn is no fun, but I'll take it over road rash any day of the week. It is no fun getting your wounds cleaned out with a toothbrush, even if you get some morphine. |

Mapes - My blast does not have the windshield, but my father's does. He really likes it, and after riding his, I have to admit I am considering one myself. He consistantly gets better mileage (5 mpg better) and his is a whole lot more comfortable to ride on the highway (he does 30 miles a day highway to work and back) Just some observations from someone looking at the idea as well. Kyuss, Blue is my "unoffical" color for Buell. All the Majors have they're own color ( EG, Kawak Green, Honda Red, Yam Yellow(turning blue though), Suz Whitestriped) Everytime i think of Buell, that metallic blue shade on the 2k2 M2 comes to mind, with white rims and an orange frame. Just a badass color, wish they had it on the Blast. Dan, that's why I buy the softbrissle ones. Easier on my gums and exposed tissue that way.. (scrub with the grain, hurts less) [Ds] |

Soft bristle, hard bristle; don't matter when you've got a 200lb Canadian nurse scrubbing away. |

Up here in the most northern part of NY 82°F Feels Like: 82°F UV Index: 5 Moderate Wind: From the West at 16 mph Dew Point: 57°F Humidity: 42 % Visibility: Unlimited Barometer: 30.01 inches and falling must feel like Hell's Kitchen down south of here... time to get out the shorty helmet |

Hell's kitchen was Minneapolis yesterday. If you weren't near a lake, the temp hit 90-95 in some places. I heard somewhere that once the temperature gets above a certain point the wind doesn't cool you down. It heats you up instead? Anybody know? |

Once the temp climbs above body temp, the wind does indeed heat you up! In Texas during summertime, it is much cooler to ride with a full face helmet complete with Quiet Rider. It actually gets so durn hot some days on the asphalt highway that the heat coming off the road will actually start to scald your knuckles at 70 mph. Doesn't stop me from riding though. Just drink LOTS of agua. |

Blake's got the ticket, also hot roads = sticky tires! Hold on to your footpegs, Dr. Jones, we goin fo' a ride! Dan, I know what you mean about those Cannuk women, my GF's from Vancouver(sp? Drat, I'm in the doghouse for sure now..), and has absolutely no problem with "helping out", be it medically or wrenching. Everything must be built like tanks in Canada, people included... Just windy here. On the Eastern mountain face gusts are around 60Mph, making sure you learn to ride at an angle. (Helps keep the tires round too, the flatspot's all the way around ) [Ds] |

Hey Mapes (Cindy) are you going to the Leesburg bikefest? A group of us are going on Saturday Apr 27. We've posted it on CFCYCLE on Yahoo Groups. It's pretty fun & laid back. A bike show, bands, & of course plenty of food & beer. Dave |

I had the same front-left motor mount bolt break off twice, the second one, being a stronger bolt, after a much shorter time. What grade of bolt should I have? Do I need to get a specific Buell Blast! bolt? That bouncing feeling can get downright irritating! |

Beautiful bike.. I like the stripe on the flyscreen. My friend teases me about my bike looking like a lop-eared dog from the front (once it has the clubman bars). I see his point. One question though, where are your mirrors? |
