Chinese tires?!! Have some self respect. Or at least some respect for your bike. Or are they Korean, I forget. Either way, I'll not be using them. Dunlop all the way! |

Avon now makes tires for the Blast. http://www.coopertire.com/avon_motorcycle/frames.htm They are availible through Drag Specialties. Didn't see them until I had already purchased the Pirellis though. Darn. |

For pricing and ordering online you can go to http://directparts.com and part# search av011 and av013 for the Avons or mt7503 and mt7504 for the Pirellis |

Thanks Dann, I know know what my next tire will be...not that I don't like Pireli just that I want to try everything I can before I move to Japan. Glad to see another tire maker making tires for the Blast. Though that size is also the prefered race tire for the EX250R Ninja. As for the Dunlops that are made for the Blast...they are the most worthless tire I have ever owned, Cheng Shin(chinese), IRC(japanese) and Duro(korean) are the most available tire in Japan. |

Chinese tires are fine as long as you don't get any ideas about changing your religion. |

WAATCH IT...I'm already a Zen Buddhist On a seperate note my clutch has been bothering me as of late. It feels too tight. May have felt this way for 3000 miles but lately with all the trafic I've really noticed. So I spent some time adjusting the cable last night. May I love the ease with which one can work on this bike. I was able to test a half dozen different setting before I found one I liked. All of this only requiring a 1/2 & 9/16 open end wrench. I gotta stop and order those Avons today...the dealer is always freaking cause I find all the good parts before they know they exist, I never lay claim to it I just say I found it on Bad Web |

Just to continue the tire discussion...I ordered a set of the Avon tires on Saturday they should be in next week. I'll post my observations when I get them on. Wee I get to finish off my rear tire this week. Nothing like excessive trail braking to kill a tire. Though I'll have to be careful as the front is already way gone. |

In case some of you Blast owners missed it, I posted some Blast bodywork for sale. If it doesn't sell soon it's going up on e-bay for a sales attempt. If that doesn't work I'll take it in to the dealership and try making a trade. If that don't work maybe I'll try to find a crashed Blast to play with and ride. I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. |

Well, we are adding them in My father (60yrs old) decided that he liked my blast so much that he went down and bought one yesterday. a 2001 with 750 miles on it (somone who took advantage? of the trade in) The only thing he didn't like on it was the kerker exhaust (too loud), so we are trading pipes Too cold to really ride right now, so deals are good here. Which reminds me, anyone have good suggestions for jet sizes for high altitude? Jim |

Jim, I think Aaron might have posted some Blast altitude jet suggestions either someplace above in this section, or in the Blast racing section, or in the carb section. Or maybe he didn't and it just seemed like he did. ps, I owe you and your wife a dinner next time I'm in town there. Maybe in July, but not sure of schedule yet. MikeJ. |

Xgecko: How about a long-term report on the Pirelli MT75's? Did the traction seem to change over time? What psi did you run them at? ------------- Rode 101 miles Sunday in the sunny NW. 68 mpg. Perfect late winter temp of 55F. Rural roads were clear and dry. As usual, traffic back into Seattle was a pain. 50 mph in 5th gear is very relaxed riding, good rpm's with a great motor hum. No hurries, no worries. |

Tires...MT75's seem to last me about 4000 miles though that isn't really the case my first I had slashed in a crash and the second I burned out with too much torque. Anyway my guess is that under normal condition the rear is good for something between 4-5K miles the front however is onle realy good for about 8K I have serious flatspots on mine now. I do notice that I load the front a bit more right now as I am suspect of it's traction. as for pressure I check that about 1-2 times a week and usually about 32-35psi. I have a very good bicycle pump with a very acurate gauge. it's No effort to put a few pounds in every once in a while. My rear could have lasted another 400-600 miles but the front has had it so I've been killing it (burn outs, skidding, takeoff wheelies etc). I'm still working on my new intake I had no idea how time consuming it was going to be to sand down the ABS elbow to fit the CV extension. Anyway I work on it when I have time. I have all the other parts, including a filter so once it fits I'll just bolt it together. WEEEE |

Just a thought for anyone with a tinkerer's mind. There have been several Sportster/Norton featherbead conversions. That's great for a real vintage look, but has anyone thought of a Blast motor in an isolastic Commando frame? With modern tires and suspension (swingarm would have to be modified), using the Isolastic mounts, the Blast engine seems like a natural for the Commando chassis. The swingarm pivot is at the case, on the Commando, the motor/transmission/swingarm is attached to the frame as a unit. Any thoughts? |

Blake, BINGO!!! Just picture a hot rodded 50 hp Blast in a Commando frame with USD forks, alloy tank and 17" wheels. The Commando was the lightest 750 of its day. The Blast motor HAS to weigh less than the Norton motor/trans unit. That would just max out the cool meter. As a plus, the Blast would now fit a whole new group of riders who don't want to look like a gorilla riding a rollerskate. |

And imagine if you could punch out the Blast engine to oh, say 750cc's. |

>>>punch out the Blast engine to oh, say 750cc's. In the days when I was test riding BLAST's (about 2 years before you caught first rumors) there were differing sizes. A decision was made to go with the current displacement. Change is possible, perhaps inevitable. I enjoyed both models. Court |

Just guessing, but probably a 600cc (half twin) version. My comment has nothing to do with anything the factory may or may not be planning. |

Blake - here's a thought with parts out there - Polygon frame tank and swing-arm, 620cc(1/2 the Wiseco sportster set up w/head minus stroke diff.), Baker 6, FB's front end, and x-1 rear, Whi-tek FI and ign. and a few other goodies - into pricy fun - this would be it - weighing in at just a little over 260lbs(projected) - could you say weeeeeeee for me ;0) This would be the 'Atomic' Blast! |

seriously - I've finely talked my wife into letting me get a Blast for her - getting parts together now for the purchase(she used to race dirt-bikes as a kid- much more on hands time than me in the past)- she's been practicing on mine and likes how light and low it is - as well as the handling. The idea of rides together where we live broke her down;0). Keep blasting! |

Why not stroke her a bit to. Half an 88 incher would be killer. |

Remember - soon two Blasts -hands rubbing together in evil anticipation - gee Blake - I was only thinking around 70hp. 80hp would remind me why I used to hotrod my VW bug - to blow others minds and beat those Camero's on the streets. Blowing away some V's - seriously evil thoughts brewing;0)but I'll be happy with about 20 less - the kid in me hollers - 'NOT!' - Wink! |

I think you will be VERY fortunate to make 60 RWHP on a 620 cc single. You might get a reliable 70 out of a stroked 44 incher. You gotta consider that the 500cc configuration is maxing out at around 50 RWHP. Funny Bro - Aarons pulling over 60 on it and he's not even breached 6800rpm - lol - moderator |

Unless you add a turbo or nitrous. Hmmm, turbo on a single is a piece of cake. Now you got ME thinking seriously on this. |
