Yea Ray I still have your directions from building your version two. I haven't made up my mind of which variation I'll use but with either I'll be supporting the Carb |

Hey guys has anyone in here used the adjustable rear shock from ASB? I had just gotten their catalog and it was in the price list. Any feedback would be great. also i'm looking at more options for intakes. is there any made that aren't going to cause issues with knee clearance? i havn't seen anything that even comes close. Me being 6'1" doesn't help either. Is there anything that can be done to the stock box to increase intake? |

My Wife has hinted strongly that my Vance & Hines is TOO LOUD. So I'm looking (not real hard yet) for a replacement. What I need from anyone who has the following BUB's Kerker White Bro's is what the sound like and if you know how it compares to the V&H (sound and furry). I know already the the Force is not an option as it is louder than my V&H. If anyone knows of another pipe not listed I'd be open to that as well. Thanks Tony |

Stop by Walmart and get your lady some of those squishy pink earplugs, VERY comfy, VERY effective. |

Tony- NOT Bub's... Makes the V&H sound like a purring kitten. It makes my teeny little Blast bark louder than the VAST majority of Harleys and other American Iron types. TOO LOUD. Don't wanna lose any more hearing than 2 strokes and stage volume have already stolen. People talk about hearing me about 3/4 mile from someplace. LA, Ca types of non-quite someplaces. I'm actually looking forward to hacking up the Bub's and grafting on some sort of SuperTrapp muffler. Check this out at Summit Racing. Here's SuperTrapp's Universal stuff. Chaparral seems to have everything from SuperStrapp. Add an S to the ST part number and Chaparral should be able to cover it. I'm looking at s317-2000 and s310-0400. -Saro |

Tony, I'm waiting on the D+D exhaust from Sportwin. I've read good things about their systems for the twins. Reminds me, I should drop them a line for their expected release date. Jerry |

I wrote them (Sport Twin) this morning. I hope they do a black header pipe. As the silver/chrome/stainless justs rusts for me. The pipe I'd like to see is a Borla. They have the sweetest sound |

Hey everyone. I have a question everyone seems to want more power out of the blast, that is great. But, I want to know if anyone can help with the front and rear suspenion. Does anyone make anything for an upgrade? And what about a taller seat that stock. Putting it up around 30 or 31 . |

What's the part number for that shock? Where is it on the ASB web site? I tried looking for it when it was first posted but no luck. I'd probably get in line for one... -Saro |

OK I'll bite I looked long and hard on the website and I couldn't find it I still have some extra cash to spend. Are you sure you're not looking at a shock for the X1/S1/M2/S3? |

I should probably post this in the Luggage forum except that it is specificly Blast related. I just replace my BMC tiny Tank Bag with a Chase Harper Model #650 3 clip tank bag. This bag rocks It fits well on the tank and hold about double what the Buell bag does. It did take some fiddling to fit the strap and I eventually sewed them so I didn't have to constantly adjust them but that is minor. If you are in the Market for tankbag I highly recomend the 650 from Chase Harper |

xgecko...yeah its not listed on the site and it isn't listed in the catalog. it is only listed on the latest price sheet. when i get home tonight i'll post the part number for both of the shocks with their discriptions. i beleive they were around $600. i only found it because i noticed they had all the blast parts grouped at the end of the list. |

Yup I found it the "new price list" isn't the same as the one that comes with the catalogue which i find strange but I do like the fact that they have brake pads available other that the way over priced OEM ones. also nice to see the Kerker exhaust their if I decide to go that route when I replace my V&H. $600 is beyond my budget right now but something to think about in the future. I wouldn't want to do just the rear anyway as it would make the bike unbalanced especially if it's just the rear. |

yeah i know what you mean. any ideas on new springs for the front? there has to be some that will fit. i would love the new rear but $600 is out of my range right now to. gotta get the new pipe, jets, and the rest of that good stuff first. the bike is still relatively new to me. think there are any other options for rear shocks? |

I'm sure there are options on a more specialized level (for both front and rear shocks) and with the Blast becoming a posible race type bike those are likely to come onto the market this spring/summer. I'm leaning towards the WhiteBrothers pipe the idea of tuning the sound has become decidedly more important now that I'm riding with my wife (her on her quiet Ninja 250r). I figure I can pose the question something like this. Honey you really don't like the noise from my bike right? Well I have the money can I buy a new quieter pipe? I still wish Borla made a Blast pipe. |

I found an ad in this weeks ad bulletin that said "Buell Blast motorcycle, new, selling price $3500. Full warranty. Won by mistake." Its in Scott Depot, WV. Thats the same price I paid for my used 2000! |

Hmmmm - I picked up a "used" 2002 grape juice at a dealership, with the Vance & Hines Pipe, 1900 miles on it, extended warranty and walked out the door for $3600. I wish I won something by mistake. |

ok here is the info i have on those shocks part# 6759 rear shocks, works, adjustable pre-load, rebound, compression $699 part# 6760 rear shock, works, adjustable preload and rebound $609 one thing i had thought of was i was at a local race shop the other day and there was a guy buying parts for a carrera race shock. the shock was around the same size as the one on the blast and can be setup in an infinate ammount ways. only thing would be trying to figure out how to mount something like that... i like your idea for getting a new pipe. thankfully my girlfriend likes the idea of my bike being louder. how many miles on you v&h? is your only complaint on it the noise? that is the pipe i was considering. or has anyone used the force drag pipe yet? i'm curious as to how loud it is. |

I have around 13000 miles on my V&H my only real complaint is the sound and it has gotten louder with age. It is a Drag style pipe; no baffleing at the end just open an insulated tube around the end. Hot gas, the exhaust flows through it and sone of the sound get stuck in the insulation. though the gas does pack out the insulation making it work less efficently. Both the Kerker and the White Bro's use more back pressure, and in theory you can control the sound by the size of the opening you allow (number of disks) this also has the effect of tuning the HP/torque to some degree as I understand it. The Force pipe is likely the loudest out ther with the Bubs not far behind. A race shop that deal with smaller bike would likely have suspension part that would work on a Blast. I was suppose dto be moving to the land of small motorcycles next month but alas that will have to wait until October. I haven't heard anything about the Daytona Boss pipe though since they make Harley pipes I'm guessing they'd be loud as well |

yeah i was kinda guessing that on the force pipe. the thing i didn't like about the kerker was the fact its so much bigger then the other pipes. white borthers may be a goood option then. ok here is another question. a friend of mine that rides a buell (m2) had his belt break while he was off on vacation. long story short there was no place near by that had a belt in stock. anyway after that he switched to chain drive. anyone here do this with a blast yet? any benefit? any issues? |

Even if they had it in stock, it would have been a pretty big job to get it in... You have to remove one of the engine mounts and work it through. I have looked at it, and can't figure out how it's supposed to work, but the manual says thats how you do it so it must be possible. He may have switched to a chain just for that reason. It has a master link, so all he had to do is swap the front and rear sprocket for chain units, then use a good o-ring or x-ring chain with a master link. Could be done in an hour or two with simple tools. I think there are interfearence issues though where the chain rubs stuff, but cutting up one of those white plastic cutting boards could address that problem as well. In general, as I recall, a chain gives about 5% better power transfer WHEN NEW. Thats the plus, and why you will see them on race bikes. The downside (which everyone probably knows already) is need for very frequent oiling, an ugly mess everywhere on the back of the bike, and it is hard to see when they are starting to loose it... I had a Yamaha that I drove for a year with regular chain inspections (by me)... I eventually replaced the chain just because it had stretched so far (though I could see no stiff links), and after replacing it there was a world of difference in the bike... I'm sure before replacement it was loosing more then the 5% a belt would have taken. I love the belt drive on my Cyclone... I never want to go back to chain... |

Is White Bros. the "quietest" pipe out there as far as aftermarket pipes? If so....in a scale of 1 to 10 (White Bros. being 10) how loud is it compared to stock? Vroooooommmmmmm. |

Zandro, I'll be able to tell you soon enough I'm ordering one today. The D&D exhaust, though it may be quieter, is beyond my price range at $295 and the Kerker is just weird looking to me (though it may be as quiet). My wife bought off on the muffler without even a hitch, I guess she really doesn't like the sound. I've told her that it won't bring it down to the sound of her little I2 but as far as she's concerned anything will help. Chain drive. I have only seen chain drives on Blast's with 17" wheels I have no idea if it could be done with the stock wheels. At a minimum you would need to alter the swingarm to add axel adjusters to account for chain tensioning. Chain alignment is also an issue though with the use of spacers that could be solved |

I'm already running a V&H and I've rejeted my bike. I'll be doing the install myself (can't see paying someone to do what I can do) the pipe and muffle was $250 insluding shipping. To those who are thinking of doing their own header/mufflerinstall remember to get a new header gasket (about $7). |

Rebeldude: A broken belt on an M2 is virtually guaranteed to be due to improper tensioning (a too tight belt is WAY bad on the V-Twin Buells). This is due to the fact that as the rear suspension is loaded the belt tightens significantly. The Blast is imune to such a problems by virtue of it's preset and non-adjustable belt tension and also it's superior swingarm/drive pulley geometry. |

HAH. I've had TWO belts break, one at 2700 miles, and one at 3500 miles...so much for "superior" swingarm geometry. The manual rates the belt to about 15k miles. Ed Aherns(rip) at Shreveport HD actually talked to the man who designed the drive train about my bike, showing him the broken belt, and said he'd get back to him with the answer...but then Ed dropped 53 feet off an overpass at 45 mph (hit a pothole, which broke the rear suspension on the bike he was the test riding) hoping this belt lasts better than the previous 2. |
