Saro, I love my rearsets, No I don't find it an issue but it's there. I don't mind vibrating though some do. As far as the ergo's go it did take me some time to adjust to...at first my knees were none to happy but within a week I was very happy with how they felt. My longest ride was about 3 hours some of which was in traffic. My rear was much more uncomfortable than my legs were. I'm 6'1" and have a 34" inseam (roughly). My plan when ever I can finally get out of the USA is to have the rearend cut off and a new rear subframe welded on. once that is done I should have a more comfortable seat made for it as well. |

Hey all, some info for ya - Got the bike back from HD after it went in for the rocker gaskets, turns out everything was torn up. They had to replace all the gaskets (head, rocker etc..) and switched them all out the new metal gaskets. Makes me glad about the warrenty though, all I had to do was sign the sheet, everthing else was covered (including labor!). That made me happy, even more so with the one day turnover. Got to talking with the head shop guy; turns out that Buell recalled al the paper gaskets, and ordered them destroyed. All gaskets from now on (actually, as of 6 months ago) are required to be metal. He did say that some dealerships are "selling" the paper gaskets to other stores to pick up extra cash, completely against policy though. That makes me nervous, just check and make sure that your dealership isn't sketchy. Bike runs, but for some reason it just doesn't "sound" right, I feel a lot of hesitation where there wasn't any before, I'm going to have a once over on it in meantime. I know it's been said a thousand times, but even after you get your bike back from the shop, check it out. Tony - got your email, I just can't send out. Don't think I'm being ugly, but there are much better alternatives after I've been looking around. Check out Airtech for clip-ons, they had a set of steel 37mm for 70$, a much better deal if you ask me. If you want to go Aluminum, check out Graves, they dropped the price on theirs (37mm - 7/8") to 140$, and the replacement bars are 10$ a set. They fit snug on the turning radius (about 3" shift either way, but I lean hard in turns so I only use about 1-2" of it). It's only a pain if you got to walk the bike (read as a LOT more see-saw to get the same turn) as the Crossroads. My sig-other want's them so I'll be remounting them on her Blast. Got a rearstand welded up by some guys in Mexico for 30$ with materials, so the subframe should cost around 80$, not bad, just need to finalize a design for them. My roommate just got a Blast because of mine.... ....I think I've created a monster... -=]D_Storm[=- |

Sarodude, Good to hear that your fourth break-in is going well. Sounds more like most peoples' experience. Are you serious that the tranny shifts w/o clunking from neutral to first? Many Blast owners have to hold the clutch for 3 seconds and blip the throttle to acheive quiet shifting from N to 1. Watch out you don't overfill the oil. Check it after the bike has been run, like right after you get back from your ride. I try to keep the level in the middle of the dipstick marks. I hope you continue to enjoy your "new" bike. |

Prof- I didn't say it doesn't clunk. I said it doesn't GRIND. Engine #3's tranny was terrible. It sounded like - well - a relly grindey tranny. I have no problems with the clunk. Doesn't bug me at all. The #3 tranny also had issues downshifting at times. #1 & #2 were decent trannys. My new bike - not as good as #1 and #2 on the old bike but nothing to complain about. I do check oil after every ride - usually after I pull off my gloves. Got no other choice since I've only had NEW oil hungry motors! Anyway... |

Kyuss, That bike was in one of the issues of Battle2win. The seat was hand stiched to fit the bike and rider. I'll try and let you know what issue it was in when I get home. Jeffw |

Tony, I thought you were in Japan now, no? If you are there in June, enjoy the crowds there for some big football tournament I heard about! |

Yea my boss had a Brain Hemorage a week ago so I'm stuck here for another 6-8 months (I was supposed to transfer at the end of Feb). Yes I know the World Cup Soccer matches are in June/July. Which will make things busy...to say the least |

Refering to above, I don't mean to sound heartless about my Boss. He's a good Senior Chief and after brain surgery is doing fine (they took out a couple of clots). The problem is with him out for the next month or two that leaves only me (the new office Tech God) a guy that I have trained, and a new guy. Hence the need for me to stay to train the new guy and take any trip to cool places like Singapore/Perth that come along. I was just looking forward to going to sea this summer (and saving money). now it looks like I'll be there after thankgiving. On The Buell front I got my Saddlebages today; sold the car for the impending move and bought the wife a Ninja 250R, so I need a way to transport stuff. Since they were designed to attach to the passenger footpegs and I don't have them I had to get creative in attaching them. Eventually I strapped them to the battery holder and tye wrapped everything to make sure it stayed put. The bike looks cool with them on I'll have to post some photos. That however will have to wait until the end of the month ASB is supposed to be send me photos of their new intake so I can make sure it will work with my leg position. I hope it does because I have the spare cash to buy it (ahhh per-diem). |

Groan!!!man if I was tranfering on time I'd be able to do that this year. Oh well I guess I'll have to make do with the ASB intake. Bars are 7/8's and you can install either EMGO (cheap) or Napolean (expensive) Barend mirrors. Or you could do what I did and get S3 Plugs and use Bug Eye mirrors |

Xgecko; Have you any idea what the cost of the ASB intake is going to be? |

They told me roughly $200 I just received preliminary photos and I know it will not work for me I have the Xroads rearsets and the intake location will be right at my right knee. so I'm off to order a new brake rotor (from Buell) and a fork brace and pully skin from Xroads. I'll post the Photos when I get home in a few hours. I may try and creat an intake like others here have done. |

oops, I guess I was misunderstood. My bike has no mirrors on it. I have a single bar end mirror that I attach each year at inspection time. Otherwise I use my BugEyes which are attached to my helmet (see helmets forum for example photos. I came to this end because I couldn't find any option that gave me vibration free visiblity in traffic. BTW the Bugeyes survived my trip over the bars with no ill effects |

sorry about that myself, i misunderstood (and sorry about your trip over the bars i suppose!!) - i'm not sure i could get used to those guys attached to my helmet. it looks like i'll go with the napoleon bar ends - for now thanks chris |

You don't have to go to Hawaii for 75degree riding. It's been like that in Florida for a while and with no rain. Lovin' it. I have the napoleon barend mirrors and they work great. They look good and I can see behind me. I also have the lower handlebars (like a 2" rise). When installing the barend mirrors, make sure you trim about 1/8" off the end of the throttle. It it is too long, the mirror will affect the throttle movement. -rustr |

I found this this a while ago but it looks like they have expanded the line. if it didn't require me to start from scratch with a new fairing I'd buy one in a flash. I still may use one when I change things around up front |

Hi - I got a set of J&P handlebar clip-on mirrors - 2" cones that have 3/32 black rubber gasket linning them for fit and to dampen vibration. Works for me. ;0) They were made for 1" bars. |

Tony, The spacer I used 3 1/8 O.D. & 2 1/16 I.D. by 3/4 thick. I have found several advantages to my second version over the first which I will attempt to explain in the following. 1. I have about the same leg length as you and although I haven't poped for thr xroads rearsets I do alot of my riding with my feet on the passenger pegs which would be simular angle. I find the second version of the air cleaner much more comfortable than version one. It only sets my right leg out about an inch were version one forced it out 3-4 inches. 2. When riding in the rain with version one the bike had a tendency to want to run rich with version two gravity helps to keep the water from saturating the whole filter. VERY IMPORTANT make a bracket to support the carb that little rubber boot holding the carb on isn't as strong as it looks (I won't go into how I know ) but a little aluminum will save alot of heart ache. Version two envolved shaping a 2 inch PVC elbow to the angle desired and so that it will fit inside the spacer a little elbow grease and time makes it very pleasing to the eye. The was a smaller K&N filter than I chose that I considered for version two but I wanted maximum air flow so went for larger amount of filter area than stock. Hope this helps, Ray |
