I saw a pair of Laverda bars (4 point adjustable bars) an an actual Laverda today. They come stock with the cutout on the joint for tank clearance (the part I had to cut off on mine for tank clearance). Nice looking bike and they looked good on it! | ||

Do you have a picture of your bike with the 4-ways installed? I've seen them installed on other bikes, but never on a blast. | ||

The position of these brings the controls (grips) closer to the driver?? Without leaning forward or having rearsets? Just curious.......thanks Kat | ||

Thats the beauty of adjustable bars - they could be brought up to superbike height or down to clubmans, but you can adjust angles to your comfort level for least ammount of wrist pressure etc - a lot like my clip ons but a bar mount version - very nice! GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

Kat--Not without leaning forward. And rearsets aren't necessary (if you're at least somewhat flexible), but they help a bit. But, you do have to lean (and sit, for that matter) farther forward. | ||

They can & will move the controls closer to you if adjusted that way. I personally sit close to the tank, in an upright position, because the low seat is too uncomfortable to sit that far back on it. The riding position is not much different than stock if adjusted back (but no baby ape hangers). Rearsets will only change the riding position and it is very different from stock. Sorry Scott to disagree, but having tried 3 seats, multiple bars (and adjustments) and rearsets, I have found a great degree of comfort difference in set ups and it really depends on personal tastes.It also differs in comfort a lot between someone who is 5'2" & 6'. | ||

No worries on the disagree-ing. It's true, it comes down to personal taste. And height. (At first read, I thought you were talking about me being the one who is 5'2. Was confused there for a minute. lol...) On a second, closer look at those pics, it looks like the bars are farther back and maybe a little higher than mine. I have to sit close to the tank, and also lean forward. My control setup will actually get slightly more comfy with rearsets. | ||

Raask - Sweden - I ordered them from "buster's Motorcycle Accessories" and it was listed on Raask's web site as one of their vendors. Omar's was also listed, but he just calls them 4 way adjustables, and they are listed on a different part of his website than his other Cafe handlebars. Same as mine! I couldnt read the whole brand name anymore, but I can still see the 'made in Sweden' part. Definitely a better deal than Omars! Nice find. I still cant decide whether to re weld and modify mine (for tank clearance), buy another set or go with something else. As I said before, you can twist those bars up, but the joints and welds will stay intact! | ||

That's good to know. The total charge ended up being $107.00. But, I think my CC company charged me a fee for the currency conversion. Still a better deal than Omar's though. It only took about 10 days to get them from England. Yesterday it was 58 degrees here. (It's in the 20's right now BTW - damn minnesota march weather). Anyway, everybody and their brother's kid was out riding, including me. It was the first time I got to ride with those bars, and the first time with the low seat. I love the bars. And the low seat was OK, except I'm 6'0 and I have long legs for a 6'0 guy, so I was feeling a bit cramped in the leg. I gotta get rear sets.... | ||

Naustin, with that low seat and rearsets, your legs will be even more Cramped !!! Try riding with your feet on the rear footpegs and you'll kinda get a feeling what it's like. A dude your height should NOT be using the low seat, use either stock/tall, or a Corbin ! As I always say, Tall guys aren't really meant for a Blast, and rearsets(IMHO) usually make it Worse ! How EZ can ride like that -just amazes me !? | ||

Yeah, I know. I'm going back to the tall seat, even though it chaps my •••. Actually, and even with the low seat, when I put my feet back on the pass. pegs, I'm quite comfortable. Except that since they are so far behind me my feet fall off them if I don't press backwards on them. | ||

Naustin-go with the Corbin. Firm like the low, but as high as the tall seat is after compression.Also comfortable if you sit back (further back than able with the low seat) or close to the tank. At $225, they are a steal right now! | ||

Btw- you guys that like riding with Rearsets and /or your feet on the back pegs.....Doesn't it hurt you guys to be sitting on your family jewels ??? The Banke would probably be ok for me, but after one hour with the Crossroads- I just had to yank 'em off...and sell 'em to Saro  I was exaggerating about rearsets being like riding with feet on the rear pegs. But sheesh, older tall guys (like myself) must not be able to fold up like you young guns do !?  | ||

When my feet are on the passenger pegs, most of my weight is actually going toward the back of the sitting section (I'm running the low seat). I end up sitting more on my butt than on the boys. My legs may be more folded, but it actually feels more comfortable. EZ had a good example: It's like those ergonomic chairs. Looks pretty cramped and uncomfortable, until you get used to it, then you wonder how you ever got along without it. YMMV... | ||

I like the low seat and the cramped leg style for corner carving and around town, but after 100 miles on the freeway, its just painful! I'll be trying out the Corbin this weekend, long distance, for the first time, so we'll see how it goes. Heading out to Death Valley and putting the break-in miles on the new top end (and my recently mended body). | ||

I've yet to actually 'break in' any of my Corbins.I dont weigh enough! I like a firm saddle anyway and would be just as happy with leather draped over the frame rails! | ||

Just finished putting the Crossroads Bars on and now I see this. I think Angela will like it but my gawd did it feel weird, slightly more aggresive than my SV. Maybe it's the height thing... I hope she likes it! | ||

Erik O, are ya speaking to me yet ?  Erik- I know this is off-topic thread, but about your top end....how easy did it go together ? Any problems with the XB head -etc ? And what cams did you finally decide upon using ? | ||

The XB head install was easy (used adjustable pushrods and collapsible tubes). Fabricating the new mount for the center tie bar was easy, but the clearance is really tight so you have to be careful or the mount will rub through the gas tank. I have the SE '04 cams (XB grind for an XL) waiting for installation as I needed to make sure the bike was up for this weekend.Also due to the long assembly time I piecemealed it together to make sure there were no problems.I also do not know yet if I'll need to be pressing gears off the pinion shaft, so I'll wait for confirmation of that need or until I have the extra time to get them pressed on & off (if needed). I like the idea of being able to use a stock (off the shelf) XB head which is one reason I chose the SE '04's (even though I no longer have a stock XB head, but the SE/XB cams are supposed to be better than the B70's anyway!) Thats the short story! | ||

MyGsPT: The Crossroads are definitely a radical change from stock. If shes not happy with them for about $23 (shipping included) you can get a set of Superbike bars from Chapparel.Almost as low as drag bars, but without the clearance problems and not as radical as the Crossroads. PS How about joining us for the SLO (California Blastin) ride April 2,3,4? |
