Hi all,
This is my first post here and I'm glad that there is still some place to discuss Buell Motorcycle issues. When I purchased my 1999 M2 in 2012 with 45,000 miles on it, I knew then that I would be required to be my own mechanic, and the result is that I have done extensive work on pretty much every system on the bike. This problem is one I haven't seen mentioned anywhere. The symptom I am experiencing is that my neutral indicator light does not stay on when the bike is in neutral. It flickers as I shift into neutral either from 1st or 2nd, but doesn't stay on: I verified that the switch was good and that the shift drum was oriented correctly it is just that the neutral pin on the shift drum only grazes the ball on the neutral switch, as if the shift drum moved slightly towards the left side of the bike somehow. The reduced contact took place gradually over the course of a week, and hasn't progressed any further since then.
Functionally, everything works just fine. The transmission shifts smoothly and goes into neutral as expected, it just that the neutral pin doesn't make solid contact with the switch.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
