Time, boys and girls, to break out those card guns again. Jack Rinehart, gallant protector of all behind the black curtain projects at Buell, is going to be in the hospital for about 5 days. The Docs will do their parts, but we need to do our...this guy, a confirmed workaholic, suffers poorly being off his feet and can use some cheering up from his friends. Basically, here's what happened. Jack was driving home when he saw a 6 month old baby crawl onto the train tracks as the Amtrak Silver Bullet approached at approximately 86MPH. There was no time to slow the car, so Jack sped up, pulled alongside the moving train and jumped from the speeding car, rolling in a tucked position and slowing himself, just alongside the baby, by gradually extending his arms. Bruised, battered and clothing torn, Jack snatched the child from the tracks and began to run. With fences blocking his escape on each side of the tracks, he had no choice but to summon powers from deep within and outrun the train. Jack, reaching speeds exceeding Florence Joyner's by in excess of 30MPH, successfully dodged the "Silver Bullet" and jumped from a trestle, landing in a hay stack in rural Wisconsin. The child is fine and Jack will be too with just a minor tune-up. Fact of the matter is....none of that is true, but the part of Super-Jack and his dedication to Buells. Truth be known, folks smarter than us found a little bug that needs attention to bring him back to full speed. This is a guy fueled by enthusiasm and I knew you guys/gals would want to know and lend your encouragement to a speedy recovery (I for one am not willing to have the 2007 Buells delayed until 2008 due the personal health issues of an aging Submariner . . . I want it NOW!) Cards and threatening letters may be sent to: Wilbur "The Hammer" Rinehart F6/554 University of Wisconsin Hospital 600 Highland Avenue Madison, WI 53792 Get'em out on Wednesday and he should get them before he leaves. And the moment he returns to full throttle I'll be taking up the issue of this "Wilbur" name and starting a contest to assign him a new moniker! Thanks ! Court |

Dang, I didn't see this until just now. Maybe Jack will be able to peek in on the thread? Hey Jack, Don't get too accustomed to all the special treatment. We'll send nurse Canfield to help speed your recovery. I hear he is keen on demonstrating his newfound computer prowess, something about a deep digital exam? Thanks for all you do and have done and will do. Blake |

Members: Thank you so very much for your Get Well Wishes, it helps. I'm feeling much better but giving myself injections in the stomach is not fun. My eye balls are larger than Kristy Alley's bum and I'm always thirsty like a new puppy. How was I to know that it was a rabid Skunk instead of the babies pet cat. Its not easy being a model citizen and a pillar of the county while going 85 MPH in a tuck and roll next to a speeding Locmotive . |

Dick Dale rides, how cool is that! I have been a fan since I first heard him. VERY cool. I would make this trip, but we have a baby due pretty close to that date, and I can't burn THAT much karma. Get well Jack! |

Get well soon, Jack-son!!! It seemed kind of odd to read this as the last E-mail I got from you (Sunday night?) said you were just getting back in the swing of things. Maybe I have an E-mail waiting in my other mailbox? You can't keep a good horse, err...I mean...man down for long! 1313 |

Get well soonest,Jack--though how you intend doing that at Canfield's is anyones guess. And what sort of recovery will it be if you end up "Normal"?Will you then be driving a minivan, watching Oprah, and deriding motorcycles as "death machines"?Shudder---give me "Abby Normal" anytime. |

Boy - I'm really glad everyone's recovering nicely and Mr. Hammer is going to be OK! I, on the otherhand, am suffering from a bout of confusion from trying to figure out who is sick from what and what's Dick Dale got to do with all this and at least I know my skunks from my cats, not that it matters. It would also seem like one of my legs is longer from all the pulling it's getting. Whoever you are, get well soon, it would appear that us Buell affectionados need you at your best. I'm going to bed now. AL ps- Mr. Dale isn't hydrophobic, is he? Probably not - rats- I'm still confused. |
