"The adjustments will be controlled and not abrupt, allowing the rider to maintain control as needed."

Who wants this? Who wants to pay for it?

ANY amount of unexpected acceleration or braking could cause a shift in lane, or frankly just fall off the bike if you're unprepared. Adjusting my visor when someone cuts me off (again, today) could turn a scary annoyance into me sliding down the freeway on my back. But even if it didn't, I'd hate the bike for scaring me.

RIDERS are NOT strapped into a bolstered seat with airbags and a headrest so the riders capabilities NEED to be in sync with the machine. That will never change.

"Adaptive" cruise control on an "adventure bike". Is there any bigger hypocrisy? Regular cruise control isn't good enough? A $2 plastic throttle lock isn't good enough for the Road of Bones? Starbucks posturing aside, it's still a pretty silly admission to who really buys them. The I-can-still-hit-on-the-22yo-barista-because-i don't-ride a-Goldwing-yet crowd.: )

Blind spot monitoring? Someone tell Ducati that motorcycles don't have those. If your neck is fused, you shouldn't be riding, for your OWN sake.

Sadly, most MFG's will follow this march towards cramming as much technology (and cost) into vehicles as possible 'for our safety'. Can't they spend their R&D budget for better reliability or even less maintenance instead? I'd buy that!

PASSIVE measures like ABS, rain modes, even wheelie control that only intervene when the rider is PREPARED for it are a win. So yay, score one for safety measures letting less skilled people do a skilled thing.

Haven't Ducati noticed the resurgence (and sales figures) of SIMPLE, CHEAP, SMALL, 'PURE' motorcycles? Sure, they need a flagship, but how far is too far when the market is shifting the opposite direction? (Ahem... H-D, cough)

\Puts on grumpy pants\
"Leave our damn freedom machines ALONE!"

TL;DR
NO. Just No.

I’m pretty much right there with you ....

In many respects your thoughts mirror what I’ve been posting on the Porsche boards about the lame job Germans do, on $150,000+ cars, with technology.

I’ve got quite a few cars and the Adaptive Cruise Control on the new Subaru is amazing.... the Audi and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit are pretty good. Someone pulls in front of the Porsche and it jams on the brakes ....any skilled motorcyclist knows to roll the throttle off gently. I can do a lot of slowing on a V-Twin without brakes. In addition, if someone leaves the lane in front of me, it’s like a shuttle launch.

The LKA is the same drill and reminds me of autopilots on the planes I flew in the 80’s .... you have to KNOW you are in charge and can override it.

To be honest .... I’m much more interested in finding a pristine CL77 than a Hugh tech Multistrada.

Even a convertible with a 2.6 seconds 0-60 time is less fun than my 60 year old favorite. If it has fuel, spark and compression .... it runs .... period.

But, it’s wild to watch the tech.

By the way ..... Carroll Shelby’s personal Cobra is fir sale.

:-)

Having technology is nice. It's the application of that tech that gets muddied.

My Joe Dirt set-up works VASTLY better than my friends 2020 Silverado that he can't even get his bike into by himself. And I'm not making the payments on a $80k truck: (

Radar? That might be useful if they could give it 30 dB of gain relative to EIRP with an an accurate targeting aiming system.

I won't ride a bike with an electronic throttle control for the same reason. It's insane.
