Well. . . live from the most touristy day in the world's most touristy town I was just getting my giggles from the photos of the folks standing in line at the Wal-Mart in Wisconsin for the $20 DVD Players. Then I realized that there are a world of folks willing to do the same drill for a Hermes tie on sale for $200 or a "steal" on Bruno Magli loafers for $450. I'll use this tiny space to share some of the scenes from Gotham as the holiday approaches. Also, if any of you around the globe want a "to order" New York City picture, just let me know. I'm here everyday marveling at these folks. Just a couple from yesterday..... This will be the world's most famous Christmas Tree next week. The scaffold came off yesterday afternoon and lighting and sound folks are everywhere around it - That's Vick's window 23 floors above Sak's in the background Kinda wondered if this was the genesis of the City Crosser? This wasn't...but I loved seeing it. Passed a guy on a concours Royal Enfield and missed the shot Yours truly wandered into yet another movie filming by accident and met a very cool dude who collects 60's hot cars and provides them for movies. I personally had a love affair with the Olds 4-4-2. Yeah....we got balls...why do you ask? This is the NBA store. Fifth Avenue and the Wisconsin Wal-Mart bore some resemblance to each other...we just had 2 million more tourists I am sorry to report that we only served to contribute to the crowd as we left Vick's office Oh yeah...if you come to visit from Connecticut and double park and....someone yells "when are you going to move that?" and you yell "I'm moving it NOW". Well...Tramp, tell the viewers what NOW means in New York City I don't make this stuff up...I just report it.

Great pics, Court. I always enjoy the slice of NYC life we get on this thread. Thanks! I've spent most of the holidays thus far internet browsing to determine what digicam to buy...and where to buy it. All of which reminds me. It must be about time to e-mail ol' Court another alluring Calif pic! Dino |

I was going to start a thread entitled "Holiday 2004" when I saw I already had one. Good. This year, at least for me, I have more to be thankful for than the days leading up to the holidays will permit. I know many of you well and suspect I am not alone. I thought it might be nice to have a little place over here in the corner, free from controversy, to sit, talk, tell stories and share the excitement about the upcoming holidays. In my own case, I'll scratch a bit of the surface here ... the last couple months have been more emotion compressed into a short time than I am quite sure I am capable of assimilating. As some of you know, I got married in October and the event, above and beyond the joy that accompanies such a thing, was augmented by many of the friends I've met through motorcycling traveling great distances to share the celebration with us. This means more to me than I will ever be able to convey, in words, to these folks. Our common bond ensures they needn't be told to know. Suffice to say, all the things that are good about life, can be found in the faces of the friends I have made through riding Buells. My world is brighter, barriers, both political and geographic, diminished and my mind is able to process thoughts and be broadened by dialogue that include insightful thinking from a range of intellect that includes firemen and scientists. We are smaller, yet more important, in this universe than I first thought. During the marriage celebration, there were several things that some folks here would be entertained by. First, there is tremendous entertainment in having people like Blake, Paul and Henrik join Vinny, Pauly and Joey from Brooklyn for a Bachelor party. Toss in my two sons, ages 23 and 25, and the mix gets even better. One PAULY, from Bedford-Sty and one PAUL from Australia. Can you say cultural shock. Guess which one is named Blake and is an engineer from Texas and which one is named Joey and was President of Bear-Stearns? The next moment that refuses to leave me be until I share my gratitude is the one during the days leading up to the wedding that actually brought me to tears. The folks at Buell are dear to me, I confess to a bias based not on bikes, but love of people. During a dinner at the house, Jack Reinhart Chief Buell R&D Fabricator stopped the evening to announce there was some "Buell Business" that needed tending to. Jack, on behalf of the folks from the factory, had an entire box of wonderful gifts. The first, a thinly veiled brush with "truth", from the test riders and R&D folks is a toy motorcycle which Jack demonstrated by launching it across the table. The moment it hits the slightest obstacle it jettisons the rider and explodes the bike. I am assured that Jon Bunne, Wes, Abe and the guys in product development think this was very funny. We'll be visiting next time I am in East Troy. There's is, I am told, a message here The gift that reminds me each day how wonderfully blessed my life has been by my association to Buells, and that moved me to tears, was when Jack presented me with a book of business cards from the admin, engineering and factory staff at Buell. On each card was a short note, many a reminder of, you guessed it, yet another story, from the past 20 years. These were folks ranging from Erik to the folks in the back of the building who dust your bike off before it goes in the crate. It was a reminder that each and every person who touches your Buell before you see it, has a stake and their heart in it. Most people try to like the folks they work with, you can see why I love this bunch. Notes from Henry Duga and Kimmy get read weekly and the one that sticks out is Dan Lang (who has saved me from myself and set up many a test bike for me, over thousands of miles) who put his new AND his old Buell business cards with a "something old, something new" note. Words like "Thankful" and "Grateful" fall woefully short. While we are on the "old Buell" people, part of my holiday introspective thanks will be for having met Dave Gess during this lifetime. Dave couldn't be in New York, but sent a card that has been read a hundred times. I remain in awe of the people that the Buell dream has brought together. I've so much more to say and only so many "Thanking Days Until Christmas". I'm sitting here today, eschewing work, caught up in trying to balance the "must do" things with the "need to say" feelings. I am determined to take sometime this holiday season to express myself, including offering thanks and prayers for all the Badweb members in the armed forces. Ditto for Tom Anglim, one of Buells finest, who pulled what sounds like a moment from a WWII recruiting film by requesting to be activated and sent to defend his country. My prayers (and 8# of M&M's) are with Tom. Anyway....I made the mistake of sending my wife to get a wreath. I'm a smart guy and knowing her penchant for shopping have armed her with a very small car which I thought would protect me from her....turns out, and FMJH and Paul could attest to this, she's MUCH smarter than me. See what I go through....({yes, the lions are still there) I hope this thread remains a very positive one for some of us to share some of the things we're thankful for this season. Court |
