I'll shoot a pic as soon as I get time to drag that baby out. . . I'll also run down the line on the Buell bike. I had the name of a guy who bought one and never took it out of the box. Talked to him several months ago and I have the number somewhere. Let me know if anyone needs any specific pics of the Buell bike. I have one hanging in the library. If you find one now, I'd expect to pay >=$2,500 for one in good shape. They, if memory serves, sold for about that new. I am working on another project that I'm going to be asking your guys' help on in the next week or so.... Ride safe, Court |

Court; At a SoCal dealer today, salesguy & I are having a discussion about H-D's support (or apparent lack of same) regarding Buells. He assures me good things are ahead, then casually asks me how I think a 750 V-twin Buell might be received. My comment was that it should be a distinctly different bike, as opposed to the Ducati M600 Monster being so similar to the M900. Seems like a logical way to expand the line; I was wondering if you could comment? Ed |

Ed: I can and I can't. To the extent, I can . . . my PERSONAL thoughts are.....
- Good things ARE ahead.
- Dealers are talking alot. One just told me about his BZM bragging about a HUGE number of new models on the way.
- Buell, at this years dealer meeting, revealed a palate of programs to INSURE there are NO 2001 bikes sitting on the floor when the NGB's (next generation Buells) are introduced.
- Timing is critical. The "target" is not only moving, it's moving fast. Slope is getting slipprier.
- Whatever comes will have to be preceded and accompanied by a HUGE PR campaign to convince us the good things ahead are HERE and for sale.
Just my $0.02. Court |

Court : From where I'm sitting, that sounds like more than 2 cents worth ? Infact, the palate of programs you mention, rather suggest it's a fact. Seems to me, you know the facts :') Care to share 'em ? No. Mmmm, thought not Rocket in England |

Rocket: Honest Injun' and just so you'll know . . even when I have a Buell employee or HD employee offer to "brief" me on a program, I ask them NOT to. I had a bad experience once where a guy in Portland guessed in almost PERFECT detail the very hush-hush program (the M-2 Cyclone) and my in box flag went up at 2am in Des Moines. Harley-Davidson (and Buell by inference) are very, very serious about disclosing info on future plans. I agree with this and assure you that no one is well served. I, personally, have found the greatest source of "leaks" to be a very well defined population within the Buell community. A touch of booze helps, as well. I have two good friends who are currently leading development groups for future HD platforms and all I know for sure is that they love their work and I love riding motorcycles. Ergo . . everyone's happy ! The "palette" comment was prompted by two dealers (one in CA and one in TX) who said, basically, all they could talk about was that they coudln't talk about anything and every other word was another program to insure zero inventory at the end of the year. I've got a pretty good idea where *I* think they'll be headed and I am thrilled. Don't miss my December column in ThunderPress for more of my thoughts on "Buell for Christmas". Court |

Court, Not to sound like a complete dolt, but where can I pick up current and back copies of "Thunder Press"? Is this a "dealer" thing or general press type publication? BluzM2 |

Court - I remember you talking about putting the Back-Off products on your KLR. How do they work in the most aggressive driving environment in the U.S.? Have you noticed a difference in drivers attitude or action towards you? Come on! Gimme the skinny ....er ..well ....information. |

Jason: Back-Off products are fabulous. I've installed:
- the headlight modulator (legal, by the way in all 50 states and comes with a copy of the USDOT letter saying so)
- The taillight modulator
- "Hot" lamps in both the front and the rear
- Stop Watch on the panel
- Bosch air horns
- Aviation style red gooseneck lamp
The KLR is without peer on New York City streets.....I almost bought a Duke within the last two weeks until my riding partner asked "why". Ride like someone is trying to kill you...they are here ! Suppose we need to do a column on the "creation and care of a REAL streetfighter ? |

KTM parts distribution is worse than Buell's. Does that scare ya away? |

Kawasaki parts distribution is incredible, as has been my experience getting parts for my BMW. Kawasaki, at this point anyway, is so far ahead of the game it's amazing. Ducati, based on the recent press releases, will soon follow suite with an online parts capability. We'll see..... Court |

Court, I mentoned that I was using Brain Nallin for my heads, piston, and barrels. Brain was great! Very informative, and helpful. I got my stuff back real quick. His head work is a work of art. The Hurricane pistons have several special features I have only seen in the magazines, great stuff! My buddy installed everything and the bike runs great! It's louder mechanically, cause of the forged pistons I guess. Brain was very specific about running the bike thru three heat cycles, then riding it for 350 miles below 3500 rpm to seat the rings. I have not had a chance to ride it yet but my buddy says it's real strong! Anyway, great service from Brian. I would recommend him to anyone. |

Steve: That's not only a pleasure to hear, it's kinda what I'd have expected. I was most impressed by the consciencious attitude of both Richard and Brian Nallin while we were in Bonneville. Brian was in constant contact with customers and his shop. I expect to have them do some work for me this winter and I'll be sending my $$ with confidence. Keep us posted.... Court |

Court, Just wanted to be the first one to post here. Quick questions, do you know what does Mr. Buell ride to work? Or does he rotate bikes? Always wondered. Jerry |
