People ask why I enjoy living in New York City. I walked to lunch today. These are a sample of what I saw in ONE HOUR. What a town . . .

Court, I've been meaning to thank you for posting the New York pics. I grew up in New Jersey but haven't been back there in forty years. It's interesting to see that things have changed, but that somehow they haven't really changed. Kind of hard to explain, but it takes me back. |

My wife and me have a goal. Once the kids are out of the house (17 years!), we'll be able to afford to move to NYC, and live out our days. Part of this fantasy is to pretty much be able to move to the city with no budget. These photos are exactly why we want to do such a thing. Love New York. Could move there tomorrow. See ya in 17 years, Court! |

It's an amazing city . . . I walk everyday and generally shoot 100 -150 images. I hate cluttering BadWeB but sometimes it's fun to share the electricity that makes New York City so special. Last night I gave a speech to incoming Columbia students at the Times Square Hilton. I arrived about an hour early and spent time wandering about. Ohmygosh . . . Times Square NEVER ceases to be amazing. When I start teaching in January I'll be able to spend a lot more time on the Upper West Side and in Harlem. Should be fun. |

Amazing stuff. I realized when riding to/from Buelltoberfest that you must either a) allot twice as much time as "normal" people to get somewhere because I could NOT stop riding long enough to take pictures like that, even / especially when I was on the Blue Ridge Parkway, or b) ...um...well, I can't come up with anything. I think I got about eight pictures on the BRP. I'm just too "destination-focused", I guess. I need to learn to enjoy the journey more. |

Every day is a holiday . . . . this city is constantly amazing . . . constantly bombarding the senses . . . I went to Columbia yesterday to sign my contract, get set up with payroll and get my faculty ID. I was laughing when the gal in Kent handed me my ID . . . . she asked what I'd be doing on the faculty . . . I told her I'd been retained to "redefine the lower limits of faculty standards." She told me "sounds like a lot of work" . . . . I quipped . . . "it'll be a cinch".
