Well probably not your Gov. HR 2186 in Oregon. This was posted on the quick board also. It's beginning to start. I've not found the complete bill, I did find just a summery. Legislation to keep aftermarket parts off the market in Oregon. This Law is so poorly written. Just a thought, if a manufacturer does not make that tire any more does that mean you can’t get tires for that vehicle. Or do you have to buy the crap tires. ORS 825.005 also means motorcycles. http://www.leg.state.or.us/09reg/measpdf/hb2100.di r/hb2186.intro.pdf http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?id=62515 If you want to complain: Please e-mail a copy of your letter to stevem@sema.org. Will, I could not find the proposed bill online. However, I don’t think any Legislation to restrict manufacturing/sales in any state is a good idea in our current climate. It could always be worse though: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults /mcn/2009/February/16-22/feb1609-new-surveillance- system/ We have a habit of following the UK when it comes to these matters. I hope this is one we definitely skip. PS. I have passed on your post to a couple of friends from Oregon. |

Most of this Bill is on heavy transport. But one area that is stated in this bill. ORG 825.005 (8) “Motor vehicle” means any self-propelled vehicle and any such vehicle in combination with any trailing units, used or physically capable of being used upon any public highway in this state in the transportation of persons or property, except vehicles operating wholly on fixed rails or tracks and electric trolley buses. “Motor vehicle” includes overdimension vehicles or vehicles permitted excessive weights pursuant to a special authorization issued by a city, county or the Department of Transportation) The last section is what scares almost every one who reads it. The only ones that it does not scare are the people who don’t care. More than likely it is in a PDF file format so it will not be found. (Message edited by p47b on February 18, 2009) |
