Hi Court, I have a 2007 XB12X and at the time I bought it, Buell was dropping BRAG and the Roadside Assistance program, but I thought the Roadside Assistance program was still going to be available for a fee. If it is available, how can I purchase it? I am planning a trip from Wisconsin to Alaska and back in June, 2008 and would like a Roadside Assistance program. I have Progressive Insurance with Emergency Roadside Assistance that states on the card “A service provider will be sent to your location to correct the problem or tow you to the nearest qualified repair facility or any facility you choose within 15 miles”. I am not sure how to read this but in Canada and Alaska 15 miles just will not do it! I have not used Progressive Emergency Roadside Assistance but have used Honda Roadside Assistance with my Goldwing which worked great. Thanks in advance, Dickc |

If you're a member of the AMA, look into MoTow. If you're not a member of the AMA, you should be. 1-800-AMA-JOIN |

Well I just checked. I am TOLD that HOG membership carries Roadside Assistance . . BUT there is absolutely no mention of it on the HOG website. As a Buell owner you can now join HOG. If I were you and were headed on the trip you described, I'd go Jaime's route with the AMA. Court |

According to my friends in HOG, Roadside assistance is NOT a "free" HOG benefit. Like the AMA, as a member of HOG you can get a discounted Roadside Assistance, but it is not part of the included benefits; there is an extra cost. Which reminds me... I need to renew MY MoTow membership this year! |

I just got some sort of renewal information for my came with the used Harley H.O.G. membership. There is mention of a graduated cost scaled membership and I believe it mentioned something about towing variables as well. Not motorcycle related, but in the past I did have two towing packages for a vehicle I had at the time, used one for the initial hook up and first set of miles, used the second one for the second half of the tow and drop off. Not sure if it was totally kosher, but the tow truck driver seemed like it was a semi-normal thing for him to do. Was also nice that he accepted that my nearest repair facility was my driveway since the policy stated the vehicle had to be towed to the nearest repair facility, and there was an acceptable repair facility within coasting distance down the hill from the driveway. YMMV |

Check with AAA to see if Motorcycle coverage is available where you live. I HAD AAA until I was riding my bike and got stuck in the middle of the night. I called AAA to have it towed. I was told by the nice lady from AAA that I was on my own because there was NO motorcycle coverage because of where I lived. I asked if there was an extra package that I could buy to cover my bike and she said no. Needless to say I have not renewed my membership. |

Thanks Court, Jaime & Mike for your quick response. Checking the AMA MoTow website info: Towing up to 35 miles by a vehicle equipped to handle motorcycles All dispatch and hook-up fees included MoTow pays; you don't have to pay first and wait for reimbursement. Emergency fuel delivery No exclusions for older motorcycles Up to five claims per year Have your disabled motorcycle towed to a shop or your home, at your choice Emergency Trip Interruption service: up to $100 in reimbursement for meals and lodging if your motorcycle is disabled in an accident 800# assistance available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from two national call centers It appears that it's 35 miles max... I'm going to be many more miles from a Buell dealer in most places! Dickc |

Check with your insurance company. I had Progressive and roadside assistance was only maybe $50 extra. They towed me 90 miles without any adders. AAA in CA requires "premier" with motorcycle/RV coverage to tow up to 100 miles. |

Dick, In that case they will tow it to the nearest licensed repair shop. The idea is to get you back on the road. Some jerry-rigging may be your only hope. I was in the same situation you'll be putting yourself in... there are NO authorized BMW dealerships in all of Newfoundland-Labrador, and only ONE in Nova Scotia. Fortunately, I never had a break down but if I did I would've been towed to the nearest independent shop. Just the chances you take when you suffer from the same wanderlust I do. |

Good info for the upcoming CityXSlicker Midlife Mayhem World tour. I always thought it was funny that my HOG numbers and BRAG numbers were the EXACT same. |
