Court, I have a quick question about the differences between the Ulysses wheels and those found on the other Buells. What are the exact differences between them, specifically, RIM thickness and SPOKE thickness? I was under the impression that the wheels were the same, except that less material was machined off of the RIM of the Ulysses wheel during its' manufacture. I can't find anything on the internet to support this other than when the original Buell Ulysses press release states;"Six-spoke, cast-aluminum wheels feature a durable rim design to handle the unique challenges of adventure-sport riding." Thanks for your time. Chadley

Having spoken with a guy who has XB-S wheels on his Uly - the Uly wheels have a metal "rim strip" running around the inside of the rim. Think of the rubber strip you put in a laced wheel to protect the tube from the spoke nipples. Make it out of metal. You have the piece that's in the Uly wheels. They all "fit" and all "interchange". The XB wheels are not listed as "fitting" a Uly because they are not as strong, for off-pavement adventures. This fellow, being a) a dealer employee and b) a total street rider, made his own judgement to use street wheels on the bike. Not recommending or endorsing...just giving facts |
