Thanks, Court This entire thing with the automated links is a bit much . . . geessh. (Message edited by court on August 29, 2007) |

Would a catalog pic from the '00 parts book suffice for the tach kit? I can scan and send to ya if it will, just let me know. |

That's be cool . . . I have the 1995 accesories catalot and the Buell Touring catalog but not the one for the tach kit. . . there was likely a desciption and photos in the dealer accesory package for 1997. I'd still want pics but the catalog would be good too. Highest res scan you can get. |

I'll snag the book tonight and scan it at home for ya. Since I'm the "keeper" of all things Buell here at the dealer, I get to have the catalogs in my office. Biweekly checks on S1 rearset availability until I get the cash together? Don't know what you're talking about, LOL! |

Court, I have a 97 M2 with the Buell billet dash and chrome bezel speedo/tacho combo. (97 was Chrome bezel, >98 was black bezel). You want a picture? (Message edited by steveshakeshaft on August 29, 2007) |

IF you do, it's wasn't stock and it sounds like that is precisely the one I am looking for. . . . it'll be a fun story! |

Would a better closer more direct zoomed in pic of this dash do anything for you, or is it too new? 5 or 6 mpeg pocket camera and a tripod I can get pretty creative with if I have to so there'd be no blurr. Beyond that and I go back to film stuff. |

Dana: BINGO. . . can you e-mail me the highest res you can get of that? I have samples of all the ones that did NOT work (they make great picture frames when you have two kids) but I didn't have any shots of the one that DID work. One of the funnier Buell stories. . . likely needs told. |

Court, I dug around on the net looking for that pic. I didn't even resize it. Sorry but thats all I could find. I need to look in my old BattleTwin Mag's because I know there was a write up about the kit in one of them. |

Hey. . thanks all . . . lo and behold I found, late last night, the Buell book that listed the part, as well as all the luggage for every S-2 and S-3 ever made! Eureka! Thanks for the help. |

That looks like a 1999 Cyclone, guys. Court asked for a 1998, and from what I recall, the instrument cluster looked quite different... |

I thought the first tach kits were the aluminum machined ones like on my bike above, then later tach kits had the plastic dash instead of the aluminum ones. |

There was a tach kit for the 1998 and earlier Cyclones, and a tach kit for the 1999 and later Cyclones, but the two were not interchangeable. The first ones out were in brushed aluminum. When they became standard equipment, they were plastic. The plastic and aluminum ones for the 1999 and later were interchangeable. For the 1998 and earlier, the ignition key was not in the center of the instrument panel; probably the biggest noticeable difference. The ignition key was moved to the instrument panel in the 1999 model year (along with the wider tank and more human saddle). |

I have a write up in a Battletrax mag. It states that Buell finally makes a a Tach kit for the Cyclone that fits from 97-2000 model years. Back in 2000 I cut the frame on my Cyclone to duplicate that of a S1. I also did the fork's. At the time the dash kit was not avalible yet. So I used a X1 dash and tach. The low fuel light would not work on the account my bike is carbed. I used a X1 dash and screen because the instruments are larger in diameter then that of the S1's. Mikej, The medal dash back then if I remember was the Buell pro series dash. |

Buell had a tach kit for their 1998 M2 Cyclone. I purchased one but never put it on. I traded the motorcycle away. I even gave the dealer the tack kit but they never installed it either. |

the pictures shown on the previous post were for the 1999 and later models M2 Cyclones that had the key on the dash. The 1997 & 1998 models had the key located under the left side of the motorcycle's gas tank. here is a link with a picture of a 1998 M2. http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/buell_m2_cyclone_ 1998.php |

There was a tach kit for the 1998 and earlier Cyclones There must have been two kits available since the 97 bikes have chrome bezels (that's what I have). All the later M2's have black bezels. |

The 97/98 also had mechanical speedo, the 99-up had electronic (hence the gauge size change). |

You guy's are both correct but when did you's buy your kits... what year did you purchase the kit?? If not mistaken the kits were not available till 01. |

I bought one for my 99 M2...but don't remember when. Maybe a year after bike purchase? It was aluminum with ignition key. I polished it, rode it once, took it back off, scuffed it and painted it black. Too bright, and it only took one sun glint to send me off-line in a turn. Whoops, heheh... |

Actually, the Cyclone was introduced in 1997 without a tach kit . . . .in 1998 there was a fascinating story about how the tach kit came to be. It's in the 1998 catalog. |

Court, I have the 99 and 2000 catalog and looked at both. Neither has the kit. As you know when I did my old Cyclone/S1 I had to use a X1 TACH because nothing was available in 2000 when I did mine. Please post pic's of what you have.....I'd like to see that?? |

You don't have enough catalogs. |
