Court, any advice with a power comm and the Buell race ECM would be appreciated. Any advantage? What should I look for? I run the Buell Race pipe, ECM and now a Forcewinder on an 02 X1. Thankyou much......... Mattu (Message edited by wile_e.coyote on February 20, 2007) |

I bought a power commander and want to know how it will work with the race ecm. Are there any advantages with it and any drawbacks without it. Have you run one and if so how did you like it? Is that narrow nuff? Thanks any guidance is appreciated.........Mattu (Message edited by wile_e.coyote on February 21, 2007) |

I am sorry but I do not know the answer to that. I'd suggest you check with one of the sponsors. Many of them have extensive experience. |

way better! this is just me stating my opinion. i have never run a power commander on a buell. messed with some awhile ago on some harleys. honestly, with out anyway to get readings of what you have done it is alot harder to do a decent tuning job on it. not that it cant be done. just a fair bit more effort. you could make it worse before you make it better. i would think with the fact that you have the buell pipe and that you already have the race ecm, it would be a pretty good set up the way it is. i mean, they were designed to go together. |

Wiley: I have used the PC with the standard ECM and loaded a "factory map" to it, it did what I needed at the time, it has been removed and the standard Race ECM installed, If your sled is hevily modded and you are running FI it makes sense. If the mill is standard with a pipe and air filter the Race ECM may be the ticket, To use it effectivly you either must have an exact match on setup using a factory map or be willing to spend the time and money to properly adjust it. Our setup is quite close and the Race ecm gives better throttle response and low end operation vs the PC PS this question would be best asked in the old school section. IF you have time the KV is a worthwhile read as well. er and Welcome to Badwebb. |

When I put my race ecm on my X1 I had to have the PC removed so it would run correctly. Save your money, you don't need the PC imo just the Race ecm. |

Ditto on what most folks have said. The setup is likely best with just a race ECM. The forcewinder throws is off slightly from optimized, but otherwise, the race ECM was made to go with the race pipe, a PC isn't going to make things better and just adds more things to fail. If you had more mods, I'd say tune it with Directlink instead of a PC. But with the setup you described, a race ECM alone is the best bet. Al |

I have a Power commander installed on my bike with a Race ECM. Just so you know if you go the PC route. You're in it alone. Power Commander Co. Doesn't support their product on XBs so you'd probably have to take it to a authorized dealer to tune it. It's not worth it if you have the standard bolt ons. |

Thankyou all for an enlightenment. It seems its not realy worth it as I'm planning on NO engine mods until it needs rebuilt. Was wondering if I could get more of that awesome torque we all love so much. BTW Al, love those carbon parts, man are they beautiful and quality is unmatched. Thank you all for your help, yall are great folks. |

I know this is a late response, but the PC, when combined with the race ECM, SS2R can, and Forcewinder intake netted me 99.5 RWHP on an '01 S3. I did spend the time (and money) to have it properly setup while on a dyno. Some of you may remember the fracas that ensued when I posted my dyno results...look up my old name 'thunderbolt_dad'... |
