I just bought my bike in July and bought the luggage with it. I had to do the install as the dealer couldn't for two weeks. The other day my mounting latch on the top case broke the cam bolt and fell off on my dirt road scratching the silver piece on the lid. My local dealer told me go away because I didn't by the bike from them. The dealer I bought it from is pretty far and seems to be confused about what I am talking about and keeps transferring me between service and parts. How can I get this fixed under warranty without so much hassle? Thanks, Joel |

Joel: Too funny. They really told you that? I'll be in meetings all day today, but send me all the info and I'll see what I can do. You'll be the 7th "currently active" Buell owner I'm working on right now. Egads . . . I may have to quit my job! |

Hey...if you feel bad. . . pity the poor guy the other day who had a latch break and the dealer told him quote:"they do that all the time, you just have to buy a new bag".
I'll continue fighting humor wherever I find it!

Actually my local dealer told me that since the bags were not installed with the bike purchase they are warrantied thru parts and accessories for 90 day only. Since my 90 days wasn't up, they transferred me to those guys who told me that parts and accessories are only warrantied by the dealer they are sold at. Sounded fishy to me but whatever. I called the dealer I bought it from which is about 70 miles from me and I really don't have the time to make a trip up to. Explained what happened to them and they said to bring the bag in to see because they have no idea what I am talking about. What information do you need from me to help out? Do I need to take it up to my purchasing dealer first? Thanks, Joel |

I'm biting my tongue while counting to 10. Send me an e-mail and I'll give you details of what I need. If any of what you say is true (and I'm not calling you a serial liar) thee dealers should be ashamed of themselves. The idea that Buell would sell you something, have it fail prematurely and BUELL would seek to evade responsibility could not be ANY further removed from what Erik Buell would want done.

Court, I just wanted to let you know that the dealer I purchased the bike from is taking care of replacing it. It took them a good 1.5 hours to decide they would, but they are doing it. Thank you so much for all the help. You are an amazingly helpful and thoughtful person and if there is anything I can do for you in New Mexico, please let me know. Thanks again, Joel |
