Court: Perhaps I should have given you the full story. In order to "pull" barbed wire, one must first have fence posts in the ground from which to suspend the tensioned strands of wire. In order for said fence posts to stand up straight, they must be inserted into roughly cylindrical holes oriented vertically in terra firma. Said holes do not dig themselves. This is where you come in. You are, no doubt, familiar with manually powered post hole diggers? You know, long wooden handles with steel shovels on the ends, connected by a hinge pin? Picture a set of these tools of the devil with the ranchito on one end and you on the other, and you'll be far down the path to understanding my modest proposal generous offer. rt |

I'm sorry to hijack this thread but.... It seems like that on a monthly basis someone posts a question on XBoard about Buell reliability. In addition to that, I'm dead tired of people I meet talking trash about how reliable Buells are. Court, or anyone else, do you know or can you tell me where to find actual hard warranty claim data for Buell, and exactly where they stand vs. other manufacturers? I mean hard data that I could print out and show to people. I would appreciate it. I'm a facts-and-figures kind of guy, and I would love to have some hardcore impartial data to show people. |

>>>Court, can you tell me how many employees Buell had in...say....1991 or thereabouts? Smart folks can't quite agree. . for now, lets call it "12 or 13. . thereabouts". You've prompted me to, while working on another project, to pull out the old files and build a "# of Elves" timeline |

That'd be neat if you could put the timeline into a dyno-graph torque line format or something. |

Cool thought Mike. Also cool would be "Yearly Horsepower per Elf" timeline. Plot the number of employees in a year, against the number of horsepower shipped in a year (# bikes times HP per bike). It would be interesting to see how many horses an elf can make in a year |

Sir Court, My high beam indicator and the left blinker indicator are inop. I'm guessing the little bulbs in the instrument cluster are bad? The actual high beam and blinkers work fine. I have pulled it apart for access and can't figure how to get the bulbs out. They are recessed in this plastic housing. Can I pull the individual rubbers out and have the bulb come with it? I'm sure someone else has done this. I just don't want to break it. |

If this is the 1998 S1 in your profile, you can pull (gently) the bulbs out. I think there are a couple white tabs that press together to release a collar. Confirm the year and model and let me look. |

Yup, 98 S1. The bulbs just pull straight out? With care I mean? John Thank you Court. |

I got these bulbs from a local auto parts store for a few pennies. They are the capless type. Just take along the failed bulb and compare it to the new ones. They can be a little sticky to get out of the lamp cluster, but a little bit of a wiggle and patience gets them out OK. HTH. |

I cut a Q-Tip in half and superglued the non fuzz end to the top of the bad bulbs and pulled them right out. Installed two fresh 68024-94 bulbs from my local Harley dealer and works just fine. Thanks all for the help. John |

Mr. Court, Is there any log or page being kept about all of the limited edition bikes that came out in the late 90's early 00's? I am the original owner of a carbon fiber extreme and am curious as to where the others are. Might be something neat to start up if there's not one already. Just to start things off no. 205 is in Mt. Sterling,Ky |

Check her post on the General Board earlier today: >The prize for the (chosen)T-shirt design that flips my lid would be: A free T-shirt(of course) and idea/designers name in a discreet location within the design on the shirt. Or you never know what prizes I might come up with |

It'll be a bit. Lots of work to be done. Talking with 3 publishers who have the outline. It's gonna have to be, needless to say, "different in every sense". |

When do you plan on taking this tour? How long do you plan on taking to do the whole thing? Is this a contiguous trip or will it be done in sections, with plenty of butt resting in between? jimidan |

>>>>When do you plan on taking this tour? Not sure. Last time I took 31 days, traversed 37 states, gave a couple hundred "unofficial" demo rides and introduced a Buell to some places that had never seen one. . . Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Lakes, Sedona, Wilson Observatory, Palomar, Mt. Saint Helens, Grand Canyon and so forth. It was "continuous" but I didn't get in any hurry. |
