Hello Court, I have had the good fortune to purchase an S1W just this past weekend. I was hoping you could answer some questions I have about the suspension. First I have checked with Buell CS and am told that there are no open recalls on the VIN. That's good. I am needing to lower the bikes seat height however and reading past discussions about the shock has raised some questions. Could you explain the recalls? I am particularly interested in if the 16.5" shock with a rear aluminum eye I currently have is okay? It is has the covered spring. I am also wondering how the same bike can have two different shock lengths and still remain in spec. I did notice that the recall procedure replaced the front shock mount. Did the new mounts move the shock rearward so the shorter'01 and later shocks would work? Lastly, can I fit a shock built for the bike that is 17" how much would the extra 1/2" lower the seat? I know this is a bunch of questions all at once with little introduction, I just want to get this machine on the road. Thanks. james |

Well, Upon further investigation of the UK Buell Enthusiasts site, I happened on a thread that has answered my questions. It appears as if UKBuell was replacing recall Showa shocks FOC as of 2005. Shame that is not the case here in Buells home country. james |
