Oh Holy One, I had your phone number when I was in Connecticut, now it seems to have vanished from my belongings. I am in Staten Island and could not find you listed in the phone book. Went to Lombardis Harley Davidson, they said they know you and do not have your phone number. Now I am trying to send you an e-mail with my phone number here and the hotmail must be really slow in NYC because I am having a problem getting your address out of it. It is almost 3 pm on Thursday... we are going into La Guardia to get my best friend in an hour. Tommorrow looks best for breakfast or sight-seeing. I will e-mail you my phone number here if I can get my hotmail un-constipated. Otherwise you will have to send me your cell # again, unless I can find you on the contact list. Will keep trying... Do not feel comfy posting the phone # here where I am staying, as it is not my # to give out, I am a guest. I SUPPOSE I REALLY AM A GOOFUS, or else the Universe is just conspiring against me to visit with you. New Elf, Charlotte |

You guys know you miss me... I bet you do !!! Henrik came to the rescue with CC's phone number so we will raise some havoc... (such a gentleman, that Swede is). Is it snowing yet back there ? I fly through Detroit Monday morning and they won't let characters like Spidey into airports so it sounds like it will be an uneventful return... Still wondering about the ice racing that Wes was talking about, maybe a Buell gathering then ? Alrighty then, bye bye now... |

He's Danish, not Swedish. Bad mistake to make. There's a lot of rivalry there; soccer matches, the 100 Year War etc. Otherwise ... well thank you Henrik |

Oh oh, another night of dumpster divin' for dinner. Even I know not to confuse a Dane with a Swede. I've got a little Swede in me, with some Swiss too so I can be somewhat neutral as well. Somehow I think Charlotte may get the "alternate" NYC tour map.

A person from Finland would be a Finn ?? Gammel Dansk (CJM, I'm impressed) directly translated means "Old Danish", which I realize doesn't sound terribly appealing But it really is a very good "Bitter" - herb flavored alcohol. We drink it with breakfast, after a long day in the woods hunting, telling lies at the fireplace at night etc. It is supposed to cure hangovers and stomach pain. Many retirement homes have replaced sleep medicine with one or two shots of Gammel Dansk or Aquavit with very good results. AFAIK Salmiakkikossu has a dose of liquorice (sp?) in it, which brings it closer to what we call "Små Grå" ("Little Gray Ones" - Vodka with a lot of amonia-based liquorice candy in it. Not quite as stylish, and not nearly the health benefits of Gammel Dansk. Although, knowing the Finns - they take their drinking very seriously - I'm sure Salmiakkikossu is quite good as well. Aquavit,my father used to bring that out just when my brothers and I were home for holidays or special occasions.Since he passed we carry that tradition on.We just had it at X-MAS time, harsh stuff and if you never had it you would most likely not like it. Dana aka BadS1 |

Henrik, now that I know what impresses you, I'll have to try and do it more often !! Very good info, thanks ! I actually had the chance to meet some friends of friends, a couple from Finland. We had some discussions of the similarities and differences in Finland, Denmark, and the States. They were very funny, nice and intelligent people and he had some stories that had me laughing my A$$ off !! I only hate that I didn't meet them sooner so only had a couple of opportunities to visit with them before they went back to Finland, they were here about a year and a half. She wanted to go back mainly because she's a lawyer and the differences in the law in Finland and the States were too different for her. Apparently Finland law is based on only the law, and trials here are based on past cases which she just couldn't get used to. His company in Finland is the parent company of the place he worked at in Milwaukee. So I'm trying to broaden my world a little !! CJM |

Well ! Sorry about that Henrik, me being Norweigan and all I actually would be a little PO'ed if someone wanted to call ME a Swede... but thanks for giving me the phone number. There was only one very quick ELF sighting in Manhattan, way too short, Court. BUT I had a blast down there...Chinatown and Little Italy (the Village was a little too yuppified for my taste...) I just wish I could have taken all week to explore the city! Henrik, tried calling you before going downtown Friday, but your phone was busy... was held up that morning, etc etc etc. By 7 pm on Friday we got to Times Square and my friends were all pooped out, I was just getting all wound up and ready to rock and roll... so I went back and tore around Manhattan Saturday also by myself. I had a really good experience near Ground Zero also, which totally made my trip. May tell some of you about that some other time... Firemanjim, I want to mail you something I picked up down there if you would like... that is if you are not afraid to give me your address... I fly home tomorrow and am really looking forward to the peace and quiet of the northwoods. Not much other than that. Happy New Year all you latent Elves !!! Charlotte |
