I figured I'd share a few of these among all of us who are enjoying our Buells. I gotta tell you. . . it just gets better all the time and I constantly wrangle with was it more fun "then" or now. Everytime I think the "good ol' days" were, Buell up'n tosses on brand spankin' new Fun Fodder. As the saying goes....if you have to ask what is so thrilling about these pictures, you are very likely wasting your time. If you are considering delaying the purchase of a mini-van by about a year to "carpe diem" on that RSS-1200, you'll understand with no help from me. Here...wanna totally Jones out? Take a look at where I was and what I was doing while you were waiting, in 1996, to see what Buell had up it's sleeve. Found this in some old stuff last night. Some folks here my recognize the location. I was chasing a test rider from Honda who was on a bike that would be seen as revolutionary for Honda, the CBR1100XX, which they'd be introducing several months down the road. Do NOT ask me about trying to get "home" that night. I took, well.....a bit of a wrong turn and being a bit hard headed and "geographically challenged", I refused to ask directions and just kept going and going (this is a place where you can REALLY just keep going and going) until I saw the "Welcome to __________" sign. Oooppps....wrong state, do a 180o turn and ride for 2 hours. Fortunately, without my heated gear, I was able to ride close enough to the Honda to warm my left hand on it's right pipe and alternate my right hand on the cylinder of the Buell (Do NOT try this at home). I've grown up now

That looks just a little bit like the Mojave desert region. I might recognize the dirt road down there in the valley. If it is where I think it is then California City isn't far away, nor is China Lake, nor probably is Ferris. There's also an old semi-caved in mine shaft with the roof made up of old soft crystaline structures. Wasn't about to go down into that shaft, but would like to ride that bike. |

Court, 'I've grown up now ' ????? I did the same thing outside of the Grand Canyon on my SECA years back (1995?), if it makes you feel any better... I ended up in an entirely different WORLD... the Navajo nation... trying to find my way back to Flagstaff... but I froze everything trying to get 'home' that night !!! I hope you NEVER EVER grow up, I know I won't !!! Charlotte |

Daves, Might make for an interesting t-shirt, but probably wouldn't make it past the camera lens. I'm guessing it starts with "know the product line" includes some "know the customer" and probably ends with "have sufficient inventory of appropriate items and have the infrastructure to replenish stock and order requested items in a timely manner". These seem to be the biggest three complaints I hear if you don't consider the service department issues. The service department issues probably takes up another three or so items. That would leave three items which probably includes a statement to pull their heads out of their posteriers and the instructions to clean the crap out of their ears with the Q-Tips included in the dealership kit. Oh, if you didn't get Q-Tips in your dealership kit then it probably implies you are on the "A" list, which is a good thing. This editorial was brought to you by me, an unknown, of little significance, in the world of Harley. (Why is my phone ringing all of a sudden, oops). |

Funny thing about living on an island you can drive for a few hours and hit the coast, if you don't know where you are drive for a couple more and hit more water, keep you travels till you get home. How does one go about getting some classic Buell stuff?????? ieosters, caps etc, etc, |

Newf: You got it. . . I live on an Island, squished between TWO other islands.....every sunrise is more beautiful. I've got all the old posters in a barrel full of cardboard tubes and the old literature, pictures, production stuff in about 5 legal file boxes. I've started sorting and one of my goals this year is to bite the bullet and pay to have all the posters (many never actually made it o production) professionally framed. Constraint, for the time being, is lack of wall space Ride safe, Court |

Court, The next time I am at my folks place I will take a shot from the deck off the front of the house. They live directly facing the shoreline in a little spot on the Southern Avalon Peninsula of the Island. Sometimes I would go down early morning at sunrise and watch it rise over the cold, cold Atlantic Ocean. Its so peaceful to stand on the cliffs, breath in the salt sea spray and hear the waves crash like thunder off the rocks. Up here most of the beaches are covered in rocks that are about the size of your fist that have become rounded over time and with each wave they roll back and forth along the beach. It really is someting everybody should experience at some point in their lives. Not to mention that there is a spot about 3km along a trail where the cliffs tower over the ocean about 100 feet. In late July/early August of each year the Humpback Whales chase the caplin near the shore and round them up into large schools for feeding, this particular place looks directly over the whales as they jump and play in the ocean. You really feel small when your next to one of those giants. Enough of my rambling for now. Those pics of New York are interesting, would like to visit there someday. |
