Tools is a pretty strong word for it... more like "badly angle grinder cut chunks of steel from Home Depot". Hoser was the one making the "real" tools. That being said, they worked great, and the pile of parts is available to anyone for the asking... |

Suggestion, maybe this has been approached. How about either breaking the Knowledge Vault in to subsections. Tubers, XB's, Blasts, Fabrication, Electrical, etc.., or creating a KV under the XB Board, Thumper Board (I believe there is already, or was), KV under Tubers section, etc.. It's pretty close to that, but could use a little improvement. By the way, thanks for the great work on the site. |

Marine -- there's a project afoot to re-org the XB threads along those lines (see the thumper pages for a good idea of what's in store) -- I sustpect that, as time goes on, the KV will be re-titled Tubers, the Thumper page will continue on in the grand style it has assumed, and the XB pages will to similarly in short, great idea! it's underway |

If you want a real challenge, edit out all the garbage posts in the KV and turn it into the "Reader's Digest - Condensed Version." Fortunately, the X1 Files did this for the X1 and a good portion of the info applies to the other tubers. |

Totally love the "Machine Shop" thread. It's really inspiring to see what you guys can do with a little imagination & metal. It also gives me ideas about future projects and undertakings: not that I have the equipment (and skills to use said equipment), but it's OK to dream, right? Now, for a more bold undertaking; How about a "home shop" thread? I've seen some pretty tight set-ups scattered throughout this BB. Or just little pieces of them in your pix. How about some ideas from you guys that are either pro's (or have a shop like one) on setting up the ideal Buell shop? I've got my Handy Lift, compressor, and toolbox; the rest of the garage is still clay for molding! What works, what doesn't and WHY? What tools are the most valuable and which ones hardly get used? I know a lot of you guys have answers (and pictures). Let's see 'em and maybe we can get a thread going. |

Thats a good idea, I can't decide if it should be a subthread to the machine shop, or a seperate topic. I am thinking machine shop subthread.... |

That would work! One thing about most Badwebbers is that they are home mechanics, most of them VERY talented, with lots of pretty cool ideas that are as good or better than most of the commercial stuff out there. I'm all in favor of supporting our sponsors, but also love creating stuff, and being *different* than the bike next to me (duh), as are most of you, no doubt. As a professional maintenance technician I know the right setup is everything. I've learned from my mistakes, and don't want to have to experiment with my Buell Garage in the same fashion. Ideas???????????? |

How 'bout a "Library" section? What this would really entail is a sort of book/article/video and DVD review. I recently agonized over buying a couple of books. They both sounded familiar, (as in) I'd read reviews about both here SOMEWHERE but couldn't remember which book was better or whatever. I took a chance and bought one of them, as I couldn't afford both at once. It would be nice to just drop in the "library" and check real quick! My idea goes something like this: 1)Title and author, and brief description of the contents 2) Publisher's address and where purchased 3) Price 4) Poster's review of the book 5) Additional BWB ratings (just because one guy liked it doesn't mean everyone will) 6) Anything else anyone can think of. If you set something like that up, I'll even review the first couple of books (after I finish them!) This would save potential buyers the headaches and heartburn of buying books that either aren't very good, don't pertain to subjects that BWB members would be interested in, or are confusing and wandering. It would also tip off BWB'rs to books, etc they might not have even heard of, and would give everyone a quick reference to what's out there, and what WE think of them (not some motopublisher's paid-off opinion on the inside of the dust jacket or back of a DVD case) Personally, I really miss Battle2win. It was an incredible publication with high standards, excellent tech articles, and very high quality photos of all of us and our bikes, all wrapped up in a package that I wouldn't hesitate to leave on my coffee table. I wish somebody would revive it(HINT HINT) I don't subscribe to any of the bike rags because frankly I'm not interested in every new bike on the road.I'm a Buell rider/owner/mechanic. I could give a rat's azz about the new Vulcan...really! If there's a magazine or a particular issue that highlights Buells I'd love to know about it because I don't have time to thumb through all the magazines at the newsstand (and weather the dirty looks if you don't buy one)What would be REALLY cool would be for some enterprising individual with a complete collection to copy all the back issues of B2WIN to the library so they could be reviewed as needed (with Reg's permission, of course) Just a few ideas. Opinions? |

Add a Racing Topics area. The Thunderbike Series, Hal's Performance Racing Buell, AMA Racing, and US Pro Marshall threads for corner workers could be posted. Thanx |

BIG BROTHER- I was thinking a real time chat room would be cool for badwebers? To expensive? To technical? I don't know just thinking out loud. |

Ted, We have that capability. Will keep it in mind. Thanks for the suggestion. Jeremiah (Hanses25), Cool, I've always wanted a brother. Thank you for the thought. That seems to be a recurring suggestion, so maybe it will have merit at some point. I guess I wonder why we need one here though when there already exists plenty of chat rooms to choose from plus ICP and aol/msn messenger type utilities. And do we really want to lose some of the great information and stories that would otherwise be posted on the board for posterity? Thanks again for thinking of ways to enhance the board and for taking the time to offer your thoughts here. There are no bad suggestions when given in a constructive positive spirit. Bro. |

I agree great discussion would be lost, unless thier was a chat log, but that brings forward more complications, I do like what we and you guys have going here already. |

Maybe not an open chat, but scheduled times to discuss specific topics of interest? i.e. expeditious brainstorming from badwebbers to organize an event, etc. |

Would anyone be interested in a collated version of our perpetual tire discussions? Since my bike's been in the shop for two months waiting for parts (to be rebuilt after being hit by a Ford F150, and I only put 5K miles on it in the two months I owned it prior to that) I haven't swapped tires yet, but my head's swimming from all the raw info re tires. What I envision is a table that breaks down tires by sport vs sport-touring, brand, bike model, and users' comments/mileage. It would make it easier (I think) for those of us newbies to glean valuable info from those of you who have more experience with different tires. That said, I think the hard part is getting it started. If there's enough interest, I'd be willing to manage the database and web table generation (yes, I have experience in these areas) as a grateful contribution to a site that has taught me quite a bit about this little XB I've grown to love. What think you? |

Ethan, That sounds like a worthwhile endeavor. It is simpler than you might think. If you can put it into a spreadhseet form, you can then merely cut and paste it into the board table formatting tag as follows... \table{paste spreadsheet contents here} To learn more about the various capabilities the board offers for customizing posts, please check out the board formatting help page. |
