Naustin, Thank you for taking the time to suggest improvements to the BadWeB forums. However, I'm skeptical that you are familiar with the workings and features offered by Discus Pro, the software that runs this board. For instance, Discus Pro does indeed support avatars; BadWeB simply elects to forego their use in the interest of conserving expensive bandwidth. Better organization? Please do tell. We are always interested in achieving a better organization of the forums comprising BadWeB. Can you describe how vbulletin would provide a better organization of the board compared to Discus Pro? You claim that vbulletin has "a lot more features." What features offered by vbulletin but not Discus Pro do you see as worth changing the board's parent software? I look forward to you helpful input. Thanks, Blake |

Kowski, RT, and others, Thanks for the support on the closing of the Political Thoughts" thread. Some have expressed opposing views. Are you surprised? So in the interest of fairness and democratic values, we have put the issue up for a vote HERE. Please cast yours. |

What features offered by vbulletin but not Discus Pro do you see as worth ... Polls! So you won't have to count them manually If it was up to me, I wouldn't change even if someone would step up and offered to pay for it all. I'm familiar with (read: installed, configured, administered) several forum/bb software (including vb3 but NOT Discuss Pro) and I'm simply amazed at the speed at which this board runs. I have no insight in how many concurrent users this board has to deal with and I don't have a clue as to what hardware this is running on, but asuming its similar to other large boards, this one is running at lightspeed. I'm online quite a few hours a day and have never found it to be slow or offline. Blake, if I may ask, on what hardware is it running? Shared server/virtual hosting or (semi)dedicated? How many concurrent users are we averaging and peaking at? Bandwidth usage per month? Although it looks aged, for its dedicated purpose this simply suffices IMO. |

>>>If it was up to me, I wouldn't change even if someone would step up and offered to pay for it all. Thank you, we won't be changing. To quote a wise man: for its dedicated purpose this simply suffices To quote a wiser man: if it ain't broke...... |

Please close the "War" thread. Recent posts are as politicized, divisive, and attack-filled as the "Political" thread's were. |

Whatever. It's a suggestion for a better BadWeB. |

The problem is this... the method of communicating that is used in those threads spills over to the entire board. It's hard to maintain decorum when it's ok in one room to attack and splatter another members guts. |

Tripper: Exactly! This is a motorcycle board. We're all friends here, right? I don't know a quicker way to lose friends than to argue about politics or religion. There's got to be lots of boards out there that cater to political discussion--why not take the rhetoric there? rt |

I don't know a quicker way to lose friends than to argue about politics or religion. I do. Call their bikes slow & ugly |

Dyna: Yeah, that'll do it, too. Trouble is, in the war and politics threads, we seem to have friends calling each other slow & ugly! rt |

Politics and War, etc do not belong here. This is a board for motorcyclists. In particular, Buell owners and prospective Buell owners. We grow together from our common bonds. Not apart due to our other beliefs. |

Right now, for me, there is little more important than our war against islamo-fascist terrorists. I'll try to not be so harsh on the naysaying ignorant defeatist types if that will make you sensitive types feel better. I grew up in a family where we could argue furiously without any hard feelings. I can take as good as I give. I sure don't care to "grow together" with anyone who is willing to state publicly that our President "lied us into war." Nope, such an individual would do well to stay far the hell away from me at all times. Other than that, let's ride! |

Nope, such an individual would do well to stay far the hell away from me at all times. Fact is he did lie, about WMD's being the primary reason for invasion \ liberation \ whatever, so why when the world now knows the TRUTH do you insist he wasn't lying. Worse still, you feel the need to castigate those amongst us who clearly have a better understanding of the LIE. Who the fcuk would want to grow with you anyway? You personally have done a fantastic job on your own PR. Count me as your ex-friend until you change your (on-line?) attitude, and not just on politics, you bull headed ignorant prick. Rocket |

Wow. Nice contribution to a better Badweb Rocket. I'm sure this will be a better place now we know that you consider yourself no longer a friend of Blake. |
