Three things, not intended to offend the admins... but since we have model specific boards, why a Knowledge Vault? If I have a question about XBs, I would naturally ask it on the XB board. The KV seems to be a mish mash that you have to search through. I do apologize if this is a topic already brought up, and do not want to beat a dead horse. Next, how about explaining the post ratings. Barton through Thunderstorm, so I know how close I am to advancing, please. Last, I see lots of +1s and +2s when someone makes a great comment. There is a thread feature on other forums (my sister runs two forums) known as Karma. I am sure you could rename it Octane or something, but it could be fun, and give some measure of credibility to a poster. Not to put someone on the spot, but Froggy has been especially helpful to me, how can a new person know that the advice he gives is more reliable than the advice someone else (like a newbie like me) gives. |

Mr Ninja, the KV thing has been brought up before. I 100% agree with you. I was doing some thinking, and believe that the Xboard and such should be broken down into a few catagories rather than having a knowledge vault. A general discussion, technical discussion, and possibly a super thread containing the most common issues, fixes, and recalls. Obviously there would be overlap, but that would be fine for a start. That is just my suggestion, after all its Blake's house and he can do what he wants. As for the ranks, I got no clue how it works either, it is inconsistent, as people tend to level up before and after others. ECM are the admins, and Barton's are the noobies. The karma thing would be cool, I don't know if Badweb can support that kind of system. Other than that, just stick around long enough and you will figure out who you can listen to and who's posts need skipping. |

+1,586 Froggy. I like the idea of dividing the XB board. I just want to know the order in which one ascends in rank... I can ask my sister about the Karma (Octane) system and see if it is specific to the type of forum software, or if it is a plugin. |

Any chance we might get the Southern California section of the forum to sort posts/threads by date posted, latest post first? Thanks for a great forum! |

Unfortunately the sorting protocol only lets us set it at the main topic level, thus all subtopics must follow suit. It is something we have on our list for future upgrades, but it won't be next week. Sorry. I feel your pain. |

A potential solution to the search function being a PITA: Have a "multiple choice" check box list for a couple of categories for every thread- There could be an applicable model selection and a type of post/ part of bike selection (tires, belt, bodywork...). That way the board sorts the threads, rather than relying on a search engine to find something that was spelled wrong or whatnot... |

You've just caused me to develop a worse headache than I already had. |

I think the fact the fonts are all different styles and sizes at the main board makes it hard to follow and their description are bad, like Rooster I think it said, why not just call it by the bike type the same way the buell web[page descrive them. like sport touriing, superbike, street fighter followed by the models. make it less confusing for new peopel joining the forum, thanks |

I noticed the same thing, but only since the server crash this past weekend, and now today it seems to be working fine. Let me know if you find the issue resolves for you as well. I too use FireFox. |

I saw it once around noon today, but wasn't in a position to do any debugging... |

Just happened to me, I was trying to search for posts by author 1313. (Yes I am a stalker) Opera 10 beta 3 on Win XP SP2. Refreshing and going back and pressing search again do not resolve it. |

How about now. Are you searching back just a few days or the entire database? |

I noticed the blank page too using search for messages since my last search and Safari on different computers. But when I immediately resent the page on Reload, the search worked but returned only a few posts from the time I sent the first search. I didn't think it was too important since this was right after the crash. It hasn't happened since then. |

Just happened to me again, but I wasn't able to view source to see if there were any hints as to the problem... as that would have required I re-post the request, which would of course have worked the second time. I think there is a timeout triggering somewhere... I'll try and remember to fire up the sniffer before I search tomorrow and see what is going across the wire when it burps. |

I've been getting the blank page more often lately not only from messages since my last search but also from the Last Day Search. I have Block Pop-Up Windows enabled. Should I disable that before trying a BadWeb Search? I can't recall this ever happening before the crash. |

We're still trying to resolve the problem with the search by date. It's nothing in your browser as I'm seeing it too as is I'm sure everyone else who is using the search by date feature, which includes the search for new messages feature as well. I've been unable to contact the discus support folks, namely Kevin W. Paulisse of www.discusware.com. That is entirely uncharacteristic for him as he's always provided excellent customer support. I fear he may be suffering some personal/health issues. Hope not. Will formulate a plan of attack after talking to more knowledgeable folk. Thanks for the update. And thanks for bearing with the inconvenience. Blake |

What's with all the downtime/unavailability? All day today (since midnite last nite until about 20 minutes ago) and the crash last week. Any chance of an upgrade on the site to different forum software? |
