hey, these sponsors are paying for advertising, i would hope the least that could be done is that when i click on their name in the sponsor section, it will link me ot their site. also, it would be nice if there was a quote button on the screen instead of all the admin crap. |

Mookie, In the sponsor topic you can click on the banner to go to their BadWeB page or you can click on their internet address to go to their site. Quoting text is as simple as cutting and pasting the text you wish to quote into the \quote{paste quoted text here} Discus formatting tag. Or, I like to simply use a different color, usually blue, within quotes to set apart quoted text. The automatic pushbutton quote feature is nice, but it also adds a lot of bandwidth to a discussion board. Take a look at the board formatting features via the "Help/Instructions" link at the bottom of any page. |

i know how to do it, but not everyone is as literate as me. as as far as the whole sponsor thing, i seemed to remember going to a sponsor page and then after clicking on the link, i was taken to a forum for them. i think working 100 hour weeks lately just has me a bit menstrual. How 'bout a general topic along the lines of "Help! My bike is broken"? The KV seems a little less traveled than some of the other areas, hence help questions being posted in the XB and QB to illicit a quicker response. |

I love the new articles since last searched feature. But I just did it and there was a network problem, so I didn't get to see the page, but the search date did get reset. This also happens if you hit reload on the new article search page, or if the computer gets turned off. How about this. If you search for new articles and check the "do not remember this search" box, then when the results page comes up, there is a button on it that says "do remember this search." That way I could all my searches w/o remembering, and press the button once I was done with the results. |

Just tried a Recent Posts search for the previous 15 hours and got the same error. Tried one for 3 hours successfully. Tried one for 10 hours and got the error. Tried one for 5 hours successfully. Tried one for 9 hours and got the error. Tried one for 8 hours and got the error. Tried one for 6 hours successfully. Tried one for 7 hours successfully. Just tried another search for 8 hours to double check the test and got the error again. So it appears that if you're doing a search for messages older than 7 hours the system has a glitch currently for that option. Gotta go dodge the browser snooper again, bye for a bit. |

I got the same problem here. My initial search using the "messages since last visit" failed to load, but then loaded in a second try showing only one message (the only posted since the failed search) None of the "search for messages in the last X hours would load for me. It seems to have functioned correctly this time, although it was only pulling up messages posted in the last hour. Hope this of some help in figuring out the problem> Don |

I have the same problem. Am on it. Did an upgrade to Discus last night and apparently it is problematic with the search.cgi we are running. Thanks for the heads up. I need my search utility! |

Interesting...I haven't been able to access the "Last Day" feature for two days now. If I am doing something wrong, please advise via email. If this is something that Blake is working on..."Go Blake, Go!!!" I am suffering from BWB Withdrawl. |

See my post to the quick board. We are experiencing technical difficulties. Not just you, everyone. Thanks for the heads-up though. |

Blake, Would it be possible to reconfigure the length of time someone is able to delete his or her own postings? Maybe lengthen the duration to at least month or something. I know I've been trying to delete my trivial non-important postings. I like to go up to my place in the mountains for a few days as much as possible when I'm not teaching and I don't have access to the Internet or even a telephone up there. Don’t plan on it either. Would appreciate you considering this matter, -SD: |

Important people in my life: Blake, my wife, and Erik Buell. Without them I would less entertained, lonely and underfed, and bored silly. Thanks to Blake for all he does to make this such a pleasant and useful place to visit. That said, I have a suggestion for the KV - Add a "Start new thread" link to the KV topic pages. Comments: At least two of the topics on the Topics page, The Quick Board and Old School Buell, have current threads at the top, archives at bottom, and links for starting a new thread. When I go to the Knowledge Vault there is a list of topics that are logically arranged and very helpful. If I go to one of the KV topics (for example, Bad Weather Bikers' BBS » Knowledge Vault » Electrical - Starter, Lights, Switches, and Guages) I do not find a start new thread link. I find 5 running threads with subjects relating to the primary topic and then the archives. Below the archives are a number of posts (without subjects) on more than one subject but all relating to that KV topic. Discussions there can be hard to follow as exchanges on more than one unstated subject are interspersed chronologically. If there was a "Start new thread" link on each KV topic page, it would give posters a chance to enter a subject and keep all the posts on that subject collected in one thread. As a P.S. of sorts, it may be appropriate to have a "Start new thread" link on this page too. I noticed that as I was posting this. Please don't take this as a criticism, it is a suggestion and I'm open minded on it. So any and all can fire away at this, I may have missed something here. Jack |

hey i just thought of something that would make life on badweb a little easier. for the long boards for sure. if the posts that were new since the last time you logged on were somehow marked or different it would be a lot easier to scroll down and figure out where you need to begin to read again. just a thought. thanks admins =) |

Mou5e, Click on the first name in the (sub-)topic: Then you get the message, being the first new one, on top of your screen. Hans |

Mouse: Are you using the "Search" board and the "Messages since I last searched for new messages" option? That's the best way to see what's been posted since your last visit, in my opinion... rt |
