M1 that is the Hal's bike. The last two pics above. And before that was Kosco's.But I'll bet they will both be running the same system this year.

But the top mounted one probably forces more air in the way it's set. If what I hear is correct about ram air being a real benifit when you're in the tripple digits that might be more of an edge than a slightly more aerodynamical fairing. Or maybe they'll just cancel each other out?

just thoughts to ponder. Make no mistake, I know not of what I speak.

Yup, the guages have to go to mount that induction system on an XB. Steve and I were talking with Hal's today about a mount on top of the duct for a horizontal led tach or one similar to what Big Dog Cycles is using on their customs. That would make it more saleable for "street" bikes.

"I think that aerodynamically the holes at the bottom of the wind screen are better than the Hal's setup."

Actually Hal's setup will flow more. It's hard to see in the pics, but those ducts connect to where the headlights used to be. So there's much more surface area open to increase the total volume being "induced".

>>>In the same box back in the shop where the factory front forks are sitting.

Well said.

I had dinner with Mr. Hayabusa last night who is headed to Pocono for his first track day.

I listened closely as he conveyed tales what he was going to "show" his experienced track riding buddies.

He kept talking about "130 MPH" and I sat quietly and patiently until I finally chimed in "if you KNOW you are going 130MPH in a turn, then there is likely something else, far more important you do NOT know". I think of it as the motorcycle racing equivalent Werner Heisenberg and the Uncertainty Principle. If you have taken your eyes, and total focus, from the track to the dash, you were never focused enough.

Sorry for the rant.....pet peeve. I'm a fan of completely taping the speedo and I also tape all but the "area of concern" on my tach.

The orange/white one is Hoban Brothers.
Did you happen to notice the "Buell of Appleton" sticker on it?

Speaking of pet peeves, where would someone mount "race" mirrors? It seems to me that race mirrors belong in that same box in the shop along with the forks.

Well, as I recall you would want to place the intakes at the point where the pressure is highest. After thinking about it a little more, that would probably by just under the hump that is below the wind screen. Pretty much where they are.

I don't see why they don't make them a little larger though...
